Perhaps you should have the category Home theater package of the year or Speaker package of the year for home theater or both. There are different types of packages on the market

I have never seen such a diversity of products arrive at the audio universe with such clever design signatures. This is where my curiosity begins – always, and then I delve deeper. I think your considerations for a best of designation were sound. And , of course, we are the winners when we find our best choice.

Hi, would you recommend the Q Acoustics Concept 50 over the Polk R700 for listening to dialogue in movies? Most of the speaker’s I have listened too I end up turning to the person next to me and I ask them "what did they say". HELP…

You are 100% right 99.9% of people will not pay for calibration. This is why I returned the LGC2 and purchased the Sony A80K cannot compare of box picture quality. Sony set to custom expert 1 and done, or Cinema or even I Max done. A few settings like motion and reality creation and you are done. Colors pop, skin tones look great, the XR processor gives the image depth instead of flat like the LGC2, and specular highlights like lamps on in a room or a car driving at night with the headlight on just look real and lamps in the room all have different intensity. The C2 could not do this, having said that the C2 is a great TV also, just different even its white balance is warmer and more pastel which makes the picture brownish, but if you own a C2 use filmmaker mode, turn off all the auto-dimming settings, motion set Cinema and your good to go. But the Sony looks better for movies, HDR and Dolby. C2 overall picture can look brighter but it cannot do the specular highlights as well for details.
Hi Andrew, I have to tell you that you have a great job and I think I envy you a little 🙂 Thank you and Kristy for all these comparisons, information and recommendations. I have a question, what power cables do you use when you test individual devices? Are they standard or custom? My question stems from the fact that while looking for an amplifier to power the front speakers in my Denon AVR-X3700H while testing various amplifiers such as Naim Uniti Atom, Audiolab 6000A Play and recently the Marantz 40N that you suggested. I was recommended to try the IsoTek Evo3 Premier power cable. I am in absolute shock how it has improved the sound quality of my Denon in my opinion! I bought it right away because for 150 euros I have a class better! So the question is how are you testing?

Surely you have a different kind of "budget" in mind unlike the most of us plebs 😂 to me the arendal monitors 1961 (which I own) are the most I allowed myself to spend and can spend on audio 😅

I sure wish there would have been some benchmarking with some Harbeth products. I am thinking of building a new system around new Harbeths C7ES-3XD upgrade. But I don’t know how you feel your award winners would stack up against them. Your B&W’s are a lot more money in the unlimited category for about the same sized speaker. Music has a wide frequency band. Majority of the movies have this band. Below 80hz is not mentioned at all.
I want t know what system each of you would put together either stereo and cinema, speakers amplifier DAC TV projector etc, personally for Andrew and Kristi. Doesn’t matter what price category the components come from.

Love that the Polk R700’s are winning so much fanfare. Feels like Polk is getting back to their roots of making products that get you 95% of the way there at a price point more people can afford. I’m sure there are better speakers out there, but the value of these cannot be ignored.
