I’ll admit, I expected Pokémon Gold & Silver to be on this list.

Not a bad year for gaming, but 1998 easily blows 1999 out of the water! Dare to compare!

Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings is one of the PC games that I first played when I just had a PC, and that was my old PC that still used Windows 7 first. And I often play the game, even almost every day, it’s really the most fun and memorable times, and makes me feel nostalgic again, bro, great.. 👍

  8. Moraduke on December 9, 2022 at 12:45 am

Ahh memories. Phenomenal list of games. It was an awesome time to be a teenager playing video games. Seeing the Dreamcast and Soul Calibur for the first time was MIND-BLOWING. Age of Empires II will always be one of my all-time favorites.

  12. MD on December 9, 2022 at 12:48 am

Since this video shows this channel is at least aware of Homeworld’s existence, why is it never mentioned in any other ranking?!

  13. Amy Geer on December 9, 2022 at 12:49 am

  21. Roboshi on December 9, 2022 at 1:04 am

Fun fact, the millennium bug WAS real, we just dud all the work to make sure nothing major went wrong.

In the process of updating some systems there were plenty of real disasters that were averted.

  22. Tsjuun Tze on December 9, 2022 at 1:04 am

I feel so old. Still have most disk with the PC games still laying around. I was 17 in 1999. (Old millennial and still a gamer haha)

  24. Britney Haag on December 9, 2022 at 1:05 am

Not to me soul Calibur it’s not the best game of 1999 in my opinion it’s up there top five maybe but not the number one game Star Trek: Starfleet command for the PC 1999 in my opinion is the best PC game of 1999 and the best fighting game of 1999 is a toss up between Street Fighter alpha 3 and Tekken 3 PS1

  25. Lasoli Ribelsson on December 9, 2022 at 1:06 am

Just waiting the one guy with "honorable mentions", and then there is like 40 mediocore/shitty games 😀

  26. IRDeady on December 9, 2022 at 1:09 am

oh man, mashing buttons in soul calibur. my friend and I were big into soul edge, but then he got a dreamcast and we started playing calibur. we would get high and play the game and he would always get so pissed because I would just pick whang and essentially mash buttons and whoop his ass over and over again. I had general ideas of what I wanted the character to do in terms of direction and attack type, and if I mashed them out it just worked. I don’t know if that is good or bad game design, but it was supper funny watching my friend get worked up over it.

  27. chumpyman on December 9, 2022 at 1:10 am

I Rember that Sony dropped their prices for 2 weeks to £29.99 for all ps1 titles for driver and street fighter alpha 3. I bought alpha 3 due to the price point .

  28. Britney Haag on December 9, 2022 at 1:10 am

I played just about all these games in 1999 I was like between 13 and 14 years old

  29. JG2 on December 9, 2022 at 1:12 am

I was born on 1999 and I can’t believe many of my favorite games and movies were released in the same year.

  30. Nbflowers1989 on December 9, 2022 at 1:16 am

    Ah yes, ’99.

  32. wanderesq on December 9, 2022 at 1:17 am

Crazy thing is SoulCalibur 1 isn’t even the best SoulCalibur game to many of us fans (some of whom would claim SC2, 3, or 6 are).

  33. Benjamin Kellogg on December 9, 2022 at 1:18 am

I rented THPS 1 from Blockbuster 3 times before I bought it

  34. Matty Maniac on December 9, 2022 at 1:18 am

Super nostalgic list. Those old PS1 graphics have a real charm to them now

  35. D Bone on December 9, 2022 at 1:19 am

#3 – Can confirm the awesomeness of said game. And I didn’t even have a gaming PC. I went to an internet cafe style place to play it. So much freaking fun.

  38. tilaron on December 9, 2022 at 1:20 am

UT, THPS will both always have a special place in my heart, lots of great memories playing them, and I don’t know how anyone could have a problem with UT’s music! <3

  39. Britney Haag on December 9, 2022 at 1:22 am

Age of empires II the age of Kings was a Microsoft game

  40. Drizzt Do’Urden666 on December 9, 2022 at 1:22 am

I’m glad that the best fighting game of all time isn’t a street fighter game(those are so overrated like everything else from crapcom)most of the list were strategy games & other pc games but in 1999 I wasn’t playing on pc(back then I was playing PlayStation, nintendo 64 & game boy)a few years early into the 00’s I played a few pc games but I never left consoles & I still play on consoles nowadays.

  41. Jack Wilcox on December 9, 2022 at 1:22 am

I had homeworld as a child and just wasn’t old enough to understand it at all.

  42. allercon on December 9, 2022 at 1:26 am

SFA3 is still the best SF game I reckon. It also served as a direct sequel to the animated movie of SF2. Vega survived his battle against Chun-li. He then defects from Shadowloo, frees Cammy and they go on the run together. This was later hinted at in SFV, where he helps her again. Another bit of useless info, the sound track to SFA3 was composed by The Edge.

  43. ViolentLee on December 9, 2022 at 1:27 am

My 2 favorite fighting games came out in 1999 (SFA3 & soulcal). Plus Tony Hawk, an all-time classic.

  44. Britney Haag on December 9, 2022 at 1:29 am

Not to me soul Calibur is the best game of 1999 it’s up there but not quite up there in my opinion Star Trek: Starfleet command is the best PC game of 1999 and one of the best PC games or games ever and the best fighting game of 1999 to me is Tekken 3 it came out on PS1 in 1999

  45. Chalice Of Immortality on December 9, 2022 at 1:29 am
