I think it’s useful to note, that this will do nothing unless the audio you are playing is that high-res. If you’re listening to any streaming service (tidal is an exception) the lowest quality audio is already more than enough to play music at full-res.
The only reason you would need to go higher is if you are listening to uncompressed audio that was recorded at a higher sample rate.
Also, setting it higher can cause popping and stuttering sometimes, depending on what device you have. This audio popping bug seems to be most common on Realtek HD Audio devices, like my laptop for example. My desktop on the other hand (Creative Sound Blaster SB0880), doesn’t have this issue.

IMO, you should NEVER go above CD quality, unless your mic says you can. Windows for some reason shows the DVD quality option on all input devices, even if it doesn’t support it.
For example, my mic (Zoom H1), defaults to 44100hz CD quality when connected over USB, but if you set it to 48000hz DVD quality then the mic input becomes higher-pitched, there is a ton of popping, and the audio stutters constantly. This is because the mic can only capture at 44100hz, but Windows thinks it’s capturing at 48000hz, therefore making it glitch out because the options don’t match.

when i set my audio quality to 192000 24bit studio quality i cant hear people in discord how do i fix this?

  5. sunstep on August 7, 2021 at 9:30 pm

If you are gaming, then do not change the quality to 192000 hz, because most games use 44100 hz (24 bit). This causes the sound to convert to a lower quality which only means you’re losing sound quality. Keeping it on 44100 doesn’t require any conversion.

Why does everyone think this is a function built in to windows, this is a driver enabled function. That is linked to the adobe or realtek sound stage.

  33. Trilleman on August 7, 2021 at 10:03 pm

Hey! I can’t find the enhancment tab under my mic, and I thinks it is because of me having a sound card being connected to my pc through usb. Any tips on solving this issue? I’ve already tried reinstalling the realtek driver, but it did’nt work. Thanks in advance!

In Sound Effect properties below ‘Description’ I have ‘Setting’ option and it is set to Hangar mode. There are multiple option if I want to change it, e.g. Mountain, Concert Hall, Living Room, … Which should I set it to get best sound quality. Thanks.

Do you know of any software that can give me smart sound control on my computer??? I am looking for something like what many televisions have, that keeps all volumes at the same level, so that, sudden loud events are kept at the same level that everything else is at.
