Top 10 most common washing machine problems. Washer not working and the top 10 washing machine problems. I go over 50 different washer issues. Whether your washer is not turning on, not spinning, not draining, not agitating, not rinsing, wont fill, or not working at all… This video is bound to cover the problem that your washer is having. The stats for this list were all taken from my own call logs, out of 373 washer house calls. I mention quite a bit of parts in the video so I will also include a list of parts that can be used as reference to see what the parts are called and what they look like. But if you will be ordering a part, make sure to confirm that the part will fit the model of washer that you have.

  3. kiril mihaylov on October 23, 2021 at 8:57 am

Why would washer fill in and water goes out at the same time like it is going right trough it and won’t do any thing else, wii light fill light and that’s it(is that control board?) would post the video but don’t know how

  4. Andrea Olson on October 23, 2021 at 8:59 am

I only get hot water when I run my washing machine. I’m really confused by this because I would think how it works is when you have it set for cold water the hot water valve wouldn’t even open at all and only the cold water valve would open. Maybe my assumption is wrong

Very good video, informative and easy to understand.

I just had to call a repair specialist because my Whirlpool washer is acting up. I tried to start a load but the panel didn’t light up and then it started humming. I tried a hard reset by unplugging it, but it just goes right back to that humming sound, like it’s trying to drain. I’ve only had this washer for a few years, so it’s quite frustrating that it’s acting up already. It’s even more frustrating that the repair person can’t see me for an estimate until next week. Here’s hoping it’s something simple that won’t require any additional parts, but I’m not holding my breath.

We bought my old Estate by Whirlpool washer in 2003 and we had it for over a decade before it started acting up (first it was the lid switch splitting, then it was the motor dying). We just bypassed the lid switch entirely (which I don’t recommend) and then a few years later had to replace the whole washer.

I have an Amana NTW4516FW2 washer, no start, all green lights glow, red light flashes, will not reset using large knob. The lid won’t lock, either. Can hear water sloshing around beneath drum. What could cause these symptoms? My guess, computer control board (?), can’t imagine a clogged or bad water drain pump. What s neophyte to do?

We had electric trips, after that my washing machine stopped working , i tried to change it to other switch board but still not working

It was not running but plugged and switch was on

One time my 20+ year old front loader was draining slowly, and barely completed the spin cycle. Removed the front panel and disassembled the hoses from the tub to the drain pump. Quickly located a nickel directly in the pump inlet. Removed it and rejoiced. 😀

This is an amazing piece of careful, beautifully presented work. I’ll be looking to see what else you’ve done on YT. Thank you so much! OMG was sitting here and saw one of my favorite sights in the world, the approach to Honolulu.

I have a strange trouble on a Inglis. Everything ok until it reach the " Rinse " . It take forever to fill like if there was no water pressure anymore.

  17. mary duckworth on October 23, 2021 at 9:17 am

I put 4 afghans in my washer. I heard a loud screetching for 2 to 3 seconds. Did i kill my washer.? It will not drain or go to wash cycle. Repairman just replaced the control board.

How do you get parts in a hurry? And are customers generally willing to wait for a part?

  22. Richard Segui on October 23, 2021 at 9:23 am

Back in the good ole day’s I use to get washers that the filter and pump would get clogged with cloth diapers that were not rinsed out before putting into the washer. The tub is full of water to the top and had to come out. The only way to move the water out was to crawl underneath and pull the drain hose off. If you weren’t quick enough your day became rather uncomfortable. Of coarse no one washes diaper today. Good videos!

How about washer Kenmore washer shaking alot and changes oready 4balance still shaking what is the problem

  27. sonia warner on October 23, 2021 at 9:28 am

Very impressed- I typed out my problem which began with a tinny noise then noticed the lint bag had no lint at the end of the wash but the .machine worked perfectly, It has only been used by 1 older lady for it’s life. I wash on average 3 times in a 2 week period, The next wash same tinny noise but again worked perfectly. The next wash the final spin did not work at all. I found on youtube a solution (the one where you lift the lid up and down 6 times in 12 seconds etc. It didn’t work.SHIVERS! Back to youtube and ended up watching a guy replace bearings –HELP! Not a skill I had. Today I thought the 6 up-down might work but this time the clothes were still wet but when it should have gone into spin it made a low growling noise. I thought from what you said that maybe whatever caused the tinny noise cut the belt but my mind is boggling – I don’t know if I should buy a new one (I have a leaky home so it is an expense I don’t need) or get this one fixed but the expense may be just as bad to have it fixed. This is the second comment I have typed out -the first was more detailed and this one probably needs editing but I am running out of time. I should mention it is a Baumatic Electronic BK6EL/6kg and I really liked it. Wish me luck. Sonja

My new washer has legs that my saleswoman never told me before purchasing, I came back home from a weekend fri-sun camping with fam and friends, and she was gone. Unboxed, that was my next project after camping.

  32. Tammie Turner on October 23, 2021 at 9:33 am

Thank you for this helpful list. My problem still eludes me though. My top-loading whirlpool washer was agitating in one direction so the clothes got wound up and the machine got very noisy. I unwrapped the clothes and skipped to the drain and spin cycle. I replaced the agitator dogs and the capacitor, but the same problem persists. I am almost ready to buy a new machine but I have come so far with my self-taught repair work…. any further suggestions?

  33. Rachel Gerber on October 23, 2021 at 9:34 am

What a well done video. I love that you have sectioned each problem out and given it a title. Great job explaining in layman’s terms. Very helpful.

Can a clogged drain filter cause my Maytag front loader to leak water out of the top vent tube. Tube has no holes

  35. Michael Fury on October 23, 2021 at 9:37 am

    Amazing

  36. Norman Beaulieu on October 23, 2021 at 9:38 am

I have one for you. I have an older top load washer. In the last few months it has not been spinning at the end. When I go and look into it. The clothes are socked but it did drain. Now here is the catch! If I take the drum and I grab it and shake it then put it on a spin cycle it will finally go threw and spin and the clothes finally turn out fine. Also this doesn’t happen all the time. There are times I can get 4 or 5 loads and it runs perfectly but then this happens. On top of that it doesn’t matter how much I put into a load. Do you might know what it could be??

  37. Virgilio Bautista on October 23, 2021 at 9:41 am

Kenmore no wash no water coming up is bad leadswitch

  38. Randy Torboli on October 23, 2021 at 9:42 am

I had a strange problem with my washing machine a few months ago because it had a stuck lid switch and it would work for 2 consecutive wash cycles then it would stop working until you unplugged the power cord or turned off the breaker but I got it fixed now. Mine is the model with the status lights

What your doing is awesome, thank you. I have a Kenmore washer with sensor lights and sensors the water level. The lights wont light as of yesterday and it won’t fill, just hummus. Would appreciate any help as I try to fix all my own things but I’m lost. Don’t have to touch anything, just plug it in and it starts humming after a few seconds.Thank you.

If you were buying a new top loading machine today what brand would it be? All the ones I look up for recommendations seems to have major complaints.

    The new washers are garbage

  47. Blairtronica on October 23, 2021 at 9:47 am

Be prepared to replace a washer or dryer every ten years or so. Edit: I got lucky & was able to repair my ten YO Whirlpool Duet washer. The hot water inlet valve was the problem. I replaced it (Amazon). Also replaced the pump (Amazon), for better drain and spin cycles.
