I have an astro a40 mix amp in my cupboard and im wondering if i can plug my new corsair virtuoso XT into the mix amp and i will benefit the same way i would plugging the astro a40 in?

Is there a budget friendly one?

  4. Teabag on February 2, 2023 at 4:07 am

I have to admit: the Astro gaming amp is very good. But the Dolby Atmos option on it – SUCKS. I have noticed that it leaves a distorted echo sound when it is on the Dolby Atmos setting. I thought it was because of the equalizers I use (the equalizer on the amp itself and the external equalizer I use which I have set to my custom happy face setting to create surround sound – if you don’t know what that is you can just look it up; its in standard use and it sounds great when you do this correctly). I also thought that it was the equalizer on the amp itself (I have it set to the bottom dot because this heavily increases the clarity). But noooooo – it was coming from the Dolby Atmos audio output on the amp itself. This is more than likely what you have experienced with it. So I switched it to regular stereo and this problem went away. Now I can enjoy movie theater quality sound on the two hundred plus movies I purchased from Google and all of the movies and shows that are on HBO Max. Today’s crappy movies that are being released ain’t got shit on me. Lol.

    Hey @randomfrankp,
with the ALC1220 Audiochip in "newer" Motherboards, Port-D (Front Panel Audio and Mic) is actually preferred.
With ALC1220 the Front Panel Mic Connector has better signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). 120 dB to 110 from the 1200. It also comes with impedence Detection.
This headphone amplifier at port D has a high output voltage of up to 2.1 Vrms and can drive high impedance headphones (up to 600 Ω), which is not possible with the ALC1200.

TlDr; if u have a Motherboard with ALC1220 Audiochip, Front Panel is probably better, espacially if u have high Impedance headphones.

Hi, does all these DAC work for wireless headset?

  9. Prodigy on February 2, 2023 at 4:15 am

Good video, but it should be noted that first and foremost you would want an additional PreAmp like that because you have demanding studio-quality/hifi headphones. Usually those are in the realm of 250 OHM and up. None of the DACs shown here provide that much power (usually they provide up to 150), so the money is kinda wasted in that case. Guess not a problem for most gamers with consumer headphones, but if you want better audio quality and are willing to spent the extra, and want good headphones or have an upgrade option, please make sure that DAC / AMP has the juice to power them, or else it will be just a fancy control unit that adds nothing else.

  11. NorthernLaw on February 2, 2023 at 4:20 am

Another good way to do this is to just buy an Audio Mixer like the GOXLR or Rodecaster Pro.
Of course this is not for everyone, and the price is significantly more but it’s another option if you have no idea about audio but want to get into it with top quality and production value.

  12. Abrar Khan on February 2, 2023 at 4:21 am

    Do they support Dolby Atmos?

which one is good to connect to go xlr for competitive gaming?

  16. Jason G on February 2, 2023 at 4:26 am

Hi I just got my prebuilt and obviously the audio is waayyyy different than my series x. I currently have a pair of steelseries 9 and I am having difficulty changing between game audio and discord audio. I do not know anything about this stuff but I want tot learn. So my question is, Will one of these act as an external volume setting for both discord chat and game audio??

  17. SARIN THE GAMER on February 2, 2023 at 4:26 am

Blasterx is really good trust me, the front plugs are good in my opinion because otherwise you’re bending audio cables if you’re running them in the back, the blaster has optical in the back which is fine and headphone jack in the front is awesome and you have a shooter eq for shooter game it’s awesome and it has software too

  18. BasJon on February 2, 2023 at 4:31 am

Great review can I ask please which one is best for music too improve volume and bass thanks

  21. GigaChard on February 2, 2023 at 4:34 am

You can cue a portion of the video with numbers on your num pad. You should make the part of the video where you do the standard audio on one of those numbers. Or better yet make your own keybinds so you could hear each to compare 🤯

  22. Umbhaki on February 2, 2023 at 4:34 am

Nice info, what about the GSX300? Worth it? Looking to improve sound quality, im not interested in fake surround sound, dont like it…I
have an asus z97 using the onboard sound, its ok but hoping something like the Epos GSX300 in stereo mode will make a noticeable improvement….

  23. Mr. Handsome Studios on February 2, 2023 at 4:35 am

I intend to buy a Drop + Sennheiser PC38X to play PS4/PS5 and would like to know which Gaming Amp is the best for this?

  25. vishnu riddhi on February 2, 2023 at 4:35 am

What did you use to mount the g6?

  26. Alexandru Savu on February 2, 2023 at 4:36 am

Buy sennheiser dac if u don t want to hear any footsteps in games 🙂 and g6 to have stuffy software with useless sound quality .

  27. Jacob Drummond on February 2, 2023 at 4:36 am

What do you prefer personally, we have the same headset

I wish astro would switch to USB-C already…

  31. Rodrigo Marques on February 2, 2023 at 4:44 am

What I’d like to know is if it’s worth it for me. Because I have an acer nitro i7 that uses a built-in Realtek ALC295 @ Intel Comet Lake PCH-LP – cAVS card.

Will Creative Sound BlasterX G6 be far superior to Realtek ALC295? What do you think? My interest is only movies and music, mp3 and flac.

Hello people I need some help here, wich DAC is fully compatible with Xbox series? (I mean mic and audio compatible)
    Thanks 👍🏼

Curious if SteelSeries Gamedac’s Chatmix still works if I use other headset connect via included 3.5mm adapter to SteelSeries Gamedac.

  34. Roca T on February 2, 2023 at 4:45 am

Very cool and well explained video! i just have a question. —-> Will the PC38x use its full power with the astro mixamp?

  35. BrobaFett on February 2, 2023 at 4:46 am

I just want to control my game volume and my discord chat volume. Which would be best?

  36. xXmobiusXx1 on February 2, 2023 at 4:46 am

I have tested The G6 and the Sennheiser 1200 pro myself, found out after a deep dive the 1200 uses USB 1.1 interface which limits the bitrate of the mic AND 7.1 mode ( 16 bit 48khz ) while the G6 is USB 2.0 or early 3.0 which allows high bitrate across the board.

  37. W O on February 2, 2023 at 4:48 am

    do these work on xbox?

  38. vishnu riddhi on February 2, 2023 at 4:50 am

Just realised I have bluetooth headsets, damn

  40. D J on February 2, 2023 at 4:52 am

As an Astro user who also has friends using them I can confirm this ”roll-off” occurs when using their own headsets also.

  41. Mr. Slippery on February 2, 2023 at 4:53 am

Are there any Amp/DAC combos that have multiple headphone jacks? I want to invest in a Amp/DAC combo but would really like the option of multiple headphone outputs so wife and friends can listen in as well. I feel like something simple like a headphone splitter wouldnt give me the quality. Is it better to do PC – DAC – Amp (with multiple outputs) – Headphones or is there a better way?

  42. Taylor Lynn on February 2, 2023 at 4:54 am

Hey bro I have googled everything and can’t find a fix. I would love you forever if you could give me advice.

I have the DT 990 Pro limited edition 250 OHM headphones and the sound blaster g6

I am very disappointed in the sound. I feel like its very underwhelming. My wired iPhone ear buds sound better. Is there something wrong with that combo?

  45. Ghdude on February 2, 2023 at 4:57 am

Ended up getting the Astro one with the A40 headset for $60 total from a resale shop. Really liking them both so far, just wishing I could do two outputs simultaneously that are controlled by the volume knob, since the stream output is a set volume by faders in the software

  46. NorthernLaw on February 2, 2023 at 4:59 am

It’s really amazing how little people understand audio.
Yes to be fair most headset mics are garbage, but you can’t say it’s bad when you are literally plugging it into your front IO. At least plug it into the back, I have never once in my life on my own computer plugged anything into the front of my PC.

  47. Jose Gonzalez on February 2, 2023 at 4:59 am

I bought that Astro Mixamp like 2 years ago and I’m salty about it lol
That thing sounds so bad and I didn’t realize it for months until I plugged in a much cheaper SoundBlaster G3 that I’d bought for my Switch. I’ve tried EQing the Mixamp a couple times but I think the low rate that I couldn’t find a way to raise is the issue. There’s just whole layer of sound missing (not sure how to word that better)

  48. Wobinwoods on February 2, 2023 at 5:00 am

I remember purchasing the Astro MixAmp Pro TR about a month ago with my Astro A40 tr’s. I remember the mix Amp made no difference even with hours of tweaking, tutorials and messing around. I’m just concerned with purchasing stuff just in case my ears are messed up or this is all a scam but my astros alone sound so bad for gaming and music. I don’t know what to do :/

I’ve also purchased the Bose noise cancelling headphones 700 in the last year. for £300 They sounded exactly the same, I returned them straight away. I guess you have to spend 1000s just for a tiny difference? What do you guys think?

Currently I swap between Astro a40s and the earphones that came with my phone because they both sound EXACTLY the same, I feel like I’m crazy.

Just a frame of reference; I’ve been using various kinds of headsets for years. Steel series, turtle beach, razor, beyerdynamic. never experienced any kinds of differences other than comfort. 🙁

  49. Slimbo on February 2, 2023 at 5:01 am

I’m looking for the loudest and clearest sound for footsteps and obviously what direction because my hearing isn’t the best so not sure which would be the best, and I’m going to pull my hair out if people keep sneaking up on me lol.
