What I have had success with in the past is dry corn meal. Just sprinkle it where ants will find it, door sills, by pavement cracks where you see them, anywhere where one of their scent trails might cross the corn meal. I pour a thin line at my door sill, by a furnace vent, etc. Leave it a few days, long enough for the ants to find it and carry off a good portion, then vacuum up when I get tired of looking at it. How it works is they will gladly take it as a food source back to their nest. When they start eating it, the ingested corn meal crumb mixes with their body digestive fluid, it swells and bursts them from the inside out. Voilà! Old time solution from long before household chemicals were widely available. Don’t know if it works on all varieties of ants, but it sure worked well on what I had around my kitchen.

Yesterday, 7/5/22, I awoke to thousands of ants in my kitchen. I have not seen even one before that. I used a bug bomb and everyone died. There were no more ants for the remainder of the day. Then, this morning there were hundreds of ants, all dead. I am going to try this method, but it is strange, no ants during the day. Will they die in the kitchen or return to the nest? Thank you for this hint.

It doesn’t get rid of ants. It kills those that eat it, but it attracts thousands more — so you’re even worse off than before!

I buy a huge Baking Soda Bag at Costco .. much cheaper this way. Use it for a LOT of things. Brushing teeth, deodorant, cleaning produce, cleaning toilet & appliances, and now I know to use on ants!

Ants hate ordinary talc powder. Watch to see where the ants are getting in and sprinkle the talc filling any gaps and holes. Works wonders and is kind to all.
