A Visit To Electronic Parts Outlet In Houston
This is a special stop along the way during my Driving Across The USA series of videos. Here I stopped at Electronic Parts Outlet In Houston, a really great, old-style, electronics surplus store. I did some filming inside as I shopped for parts for my various projects. This is a great store with really friendly and helpful staff. Check it out if you are in the Houston area. Help keep places like this in business. Buy local.

"A major award" from a Christmas Story 🎄
I hope you don’t get a copyright strike.
I had forgotten about this place, mistaking it for another one on Bissonnet that went commercial and then hopefully died a slow death. This place was pretty cool back in the day. They opened around the time I was going to electronics school so it was perfect.
I wish i had something like this near me.

Hi Mike, GREAT video! That store is awesome!! Hope your video ad for them does some good. Just got 3 old oscilloscopes from an electronics hoarders house. Hoping there’s something good in them??!! Take Care, Jim
I always wondered how places like this stay in business in this day an age. Is all that inventory listed on ebay and the walk-through traffic is just a bonus? Even if the inventory cost was near zero, running a brick and mortar store is so very expensive today.
I worked there from 1985 (?) to about 1988(?) while in college. The original owners, Dan & Michelle, treated me like family. Really great people. I will never forget them!
This store is awesome. if you like ANYTHING electro-mechanical, this is IT.
This place is a Houston institution. I love going there. They even do robot wars on the side of the building every now and then.
10:48 – Looks fragile. 😉
It makes perfect sense that this place would double as a hobby shop. It looks like heaven on earth to me!
I think I saw a "flux capacitor "
They even play COOL music!
I have quite a few of those same oscilloscopes. Unfortunately nobody wants them and there’s almost nothing in them as far as precious metals. Kind of a bummer.
Very impressive inventory. Thanks for sharing
A Christmas Story 💪😎
Wouldn’t be surprised if YouTube takes this down because of the music.
Mike, did you have to say "Open Sesame" at the front door ?. That shop is like a trip back in time, amazing. Are we there yet ? 👍😁
Wow, you’d need hours just to see what was there, so glad I don’t have to do a stocktake in that place 😂😂😂
Years ago there was a surplus store like this on Queen St in Toronto. Was always a favourite destination when I went into the city. Sadly, it no longer exists. These places are disappearing and it’s a shame. I preferred being able to go to a place where you could converse with other knowledgeable people vs ordering parts online. Cool to see brother! Safe travels!
Music gonna kill your monitization on this one… and you’ll shoot your eye out kid!
When I saw you were on the road to Texas I hoped you’d come here! I love this place, hope it gets a little extra love in Houston, they’ve always treated me well and have stuff you can’t find anywhere else.
