Let’s talk about Anki vs Quizlet, because when you’re talking about the best flashcard app or the best spaced repetition app, these are the two most popular names that come to mind. The Anki flashcards app has been around for a long time and many medical students, including ourselves, swear by its learning potential. Quizlet flashcards have also been around for a while, and for many students it has really brought the fun back to learning. So in this video we are going to go over the pros and cons of the Quizlet app and Anki flashcards review style.

But wait… while we are on the topic of amazing study apps, you should definitely check out a new program called Remnote. It is still in beta, but the program is a combination of digital note taking AND spaced repetition, making it an incredible and comprehensive learning tool. We are super excited to share it with you!

Check out Remnote at

**CORRECTION in the video. Anki can be used online! We forgot to mention AnkiWeb which can be accessed from a browser. However AnkiWeb lacks many of the features of the downloaded program version and is not as stable overall. Anki Developers recommend the downloaded version over the web version as mentioned here :

Is making flash cards on quizlet free?

  2. Josh H on March 2, 2022 at 12:12 am

Quizlet is better in my opinion. More intuitive and a cleaner design

  3. John Doe on March 2, 2022 at 12:12 am

The whole point of anki is spaced repetitions. If the other app doesn’t have that its barely a worthy comparison.

  4. S B on March 2, 2022 at 12:13 am

anki is a necessary evil i do it every day for 1 to 1.5 h for months at a time but it can get really sickening some time just hitting that space bar loooool

  5. ciaraeatscarrots🇮🇪 on March 2, 2022 at 12:14 am

    I love quizlet

  7. Mark P on March 2, 2022 at 12:18 am

Starting anki now. Wow, the UI is horrible. It’s ancient. Looked at quizlet and it’s much sexier and easier to get up and running. The only reason I’m gonna use anki is the image occlusion. Thanks for the video, guys

  8. Oksana OK on March 2, 2022 at 12:18 am

Great overview! I personally prefer Anki for the same reason – spaced repetition forever!

  9. Unknown User on March 2, 2022 at 12:19 am

Unlike the most of users I find Quizlet’s UI annoying with so many features I don’t need and all those distracting animations. On the other hand Anki is about the bare learning process. That’s why I prefer the latter.

there’s an add-on that allow u to have beautiful background

  11. LDouglass Bottorff on March 2, 2022 at 12:20 am

Ankidroid has this evil feature where they suspend cards you’re having difficulty with. They call the card a "leech" and they apply it at random to cards if you indicate that you want to restudy the card that session. I have wasted hours trying to figure this out. It isn’t worth it. Spaced repetition doesn’t work if they yank cards away from you because you aren’t getting it figured out fast enough.

  20. Todo lo bueno X_O on March 2, 2022 at 12:38 am

Thx! This is what I was looking for

  21. July on March 2, 2022 at 12:39 am

So I was thinking about getting Anki for the iPad as this is my main working device. I do have a windows computer but it’s really slow and I don’t really use it that often. Using AnkiWeb also isn’t really an option as it has limited features and I would have to manage my Flashcards on my computer. Then I thought that Quizlet could be an option as I had used it in the past. However, back in the day, the premium version was around 25€ annually. That price now has almost doubled so getting Anki for my iPad would be cheaper. Especially because I’m planning to use it for many years. A lot of the games that Quizlet offers just aren’t that great for the types of stuff I have to learn. And they would likely take me a lot of time compared to just simply going through my flashcards. I really don’t want to pay a lot for an app that I use for flashcards and I don’t like annual subscriptions. Anki does seem like the better option and I think I can overlook the 90‘s beta design.

  22. Majin Bustos on March 2, 2022 at 12:39 am

Brainly works better than quizlet IMO.

  23. slopcrusher on March 2, 2022 at 12:40 am

Anki is a god send. I’m taking Gen Chem 1, so there’s a lot of memorization. Molecular numbers, polyatomic compounds, acid baking, it’s so easy to just throw in a hand full of examples to study on Anki before I start learning for the day

  24. Erica Slomovitz on March 2, 2022 at 12:42 am

Is there an ETA on the iPhone app?

  25. Nevya Alya Mardhiyah on March 2, 2022 at 12:43 am

You can open anki through safari on iPad

  26. Fabian on March 2, 2022 at 12:44 am

If you have a card with one question and on the other side a very long text (hundreds of words) how can you remember all of that?
Isn’t it better to make 10 cards and just have 5-10 sentences at the back of the card?

  27. Practical Drum Concepts with Heather Higley on March 2, 2022 at 12:46 am

I liked anki… but then I think I broke it.. at a certain point it stopped syncing and although it works on my phone and not limiting me currently, I don’t understand the system set up enough to understand how or if the problem can be rectified. I’ve become afraid of the sync button for fear of it reverting to the reduced version of notes that are in ankiweb vs anki droid.
So..I started using ‘study smarter’ app as an alternative, but now the bas***ds decided to remove offline accessibility for free users… of course.. classic. After I just spent a week making packs of cards to revise on regular 2 hour train journeys.. furious is an understatement.

  28. rockstar nurse on March 2, 2022 at 12:47 am

You said what I was thinking about Anki….THE INTERFACE. Ugh! I’m a very visual person, and this whole antiquated beta look that Anki has is a massive turn off. The question is when will they overhaul the website so that it looks more professional and more up to date? Yeah, it’s just not my vibe rn….I’ll stick to Quizlet.

  29. KobeConfidence on March 2, 2022 at 12:47 am

Never heard of anki before now

  30. Sivananda Sai Chilukuri on March 2, 2022 at 12:47 am

  32. Walker Firmin on March 2, 2022 at 12:49 am

I am so glad you said that Quizlet has a better interface. Sometimes people act like they don’t even know what a nice interface is…

  38. aaayyy on March 2, 2022 at 1:06 am

I really want to love Anki – but b/c they don’t have a feature to test your knowledge and track your scores, it’s really pointless to me. If I can’t assess my knowledge and learning, and track it over time; then what good is it?

  39. Dank Memes on March 2, 2022 at 1:07 am

I got something better. Get a gym teacher or someone with gym teacher energy, a blindfold, and a lot of dodgeballs. Wear the blindfold and have the gym teacher quiz you. If you get something wrong, prepare to be pelted.

  40. 2k_M7MD on March 2, 2022 at 1:07 am

    Chegg is better

  41. Delilah Y Revels on March 2, 2022 at 1:08 am

You guys are so cute. Lol I don’t know why but this made me smile. Thank you for the review..I can be a slower learner with some things and very bright in other areas. I’m looking for ways to expand and grow the weak stuff. Bravo to you both!

Thanks for watching everyone! **Correction in the video, Anki can be used online via AnkiWeb! However it’s features are severely limited and to make use of the full workflow and study efficiency, the downloaded version is the way to go (it’s free). A word from the Anki developers about this :
If you want to check out Remnote, go to (just type it into your search browser). happy studying!

  43. Michael Shparber on March 2, 2022 at 1:09 am

Flashcards Deluxe is the best! It also has Spaced Repetition

  44. scott ulves on March 2, 2022 at 1:09 am

Does ANKI allow you to print your cards and the option to save them as a file to upload to other apps?

  45. Mikee Kuh on March 2, 2022 at 1:09 am

    ANKI FTW!!

  46. Randell Hendley on March 2, 2022 at 1:10 am

Quizlet is just missing a couple things to make it the perfect study app. I doubt we will see it improve beyond it’s current state

  47. Ivan Tavares Hernandez on March 2, 2022 at 1:11 am

    No entendi ni verga ☹

  48. ByToothandClaw on March 2, 2022 at 1:11 am

I’m a bit confused – is remnote "an app you found" or one you are a co-founder of. ref: where you say this. One implies Independence of the opinion, the other is clearly biased. You can’t become a co-founder once the product / company has been started.

  49. Aiden Brady on March 2, 2022 at 1:11 am

    I like to use chegg

  50. Sri Krishnan on March 2, 2022 at 1:11 am

Well u can’t compare remnote with anki. Remnote is really a good combo of anki and notion but image occluded is missing in remnote’s free version. The most essential feature (ATLEAST for me) is the image occlusion (addon) in anki. I can’t imagine anki without it. That being said remnote won’t be a good at flash cards for this reason
