Joust was one of my favorites. There was also an obscure one called Night Driver where you raced your car though a race course at night, and only the side markersof the road were rvisible It was a first erson viewpoint and had steering wheel and gearshift controls Missle command was another fun one and so was asteroids.

I was totally addicted to Astroids in the early 80s. I could play for hours with just a few quarters. It was one of the first converted arcade games I played on my first PC around 1984.

I was a teen in the 80s. Strange that none of these games had really caught my attention until Operation Wolf did it in the very late 80s.

I love Tron, and still love tron, including both movies

  13. Gregg Gilvin on March 7, 2023 at 6:14 am

A few of my favorites back in the ’80s were Berserk, Robotron, Qix & Vanquard. I think Ladybug or Kaos was the 1st arcade game I played.

  14. Lois Hunt on March 7, 2023 at 6:14 am

Oh wow. Thoroughly enjoyed this!! Galaga was my all time favorite. Had my initials at the top of the screen many times. Our arcade here in Logansport was Bally’s Great Escape. No clock on the wall on purpose! Lol. Anyone remember Joust and Mappy? Loved those too!

  15. HughJassle on March 7, 2023 at 6:15 am

The retro arcades by me charge 10 for an hour. I remember the Seinfeld episode with Frogger and George trying to cross the street. Lol

I went to the arcade to hustle people playing pool in the 80s and I actually won a kinda beat up 442 cutlass one night but then realized I was to young to drive so I took a 100$ and called it even.

  21. Anthony K Byars on March 7, 2023 at 6:19 am

  22. Jason Vyzer on March 7, 2023 at 6:19 am

Still think Defender has some of the best sounds ever created for a video game.

Track and field was my favorite!

  24. woefree on March 7, 2023 at 6:21 am

  25. Hrh Fish on March 7, 2023 at 6:23 am

Defender was my favourite. I spent hours playing that game. 😎

  26. SerpentStar on March 7, 2023 at 6:24 am

I was born in 1971 and I started playing arcades in ’78 or ’79. I would go to the arcades at Forum 303 Mall in Arlington, TX with my brother. We loved it. He was hooked on Space Invaders. I was hooked on either racing or Star Fire(a pre Star Wars arcade). In the 80’s I played a lot of arcades you named. Here are my favorites: Pac Man, Mrs. Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Frogger, Q-Bert, Galaxian, Galaga, Zaxxon, Super Zaxxon, Rampage, Tron, Missile Command, Spy Hunter and Star Wars(followed by Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi).

  45. Timothy Lewis on March 7, 2023 at 6:48 am

    It’s Saturday Supercade!

Played all of these except Tempest as a kid. Decades later and I’m still a huge gamer.

  46. dan porter on March 7, 2023 at 6:49 am

What happened to Astroids? Oh, and Robotron couldn’t leave the arcade until you beat 1million lol

  47. CrazyCroatian on March 7, 2023 at 6:50 am

Double Dragon and DD2.. Skating Parties..ahhh the 80s

  48. Andy Laden on March 7, 2023 at 6:51 am

Asteriods, Missile Command, Xevious, Gyruss, Joust, Burger Time just to name a few that were not on the list. The early 80’s was a timeless, priceless era. Tons and tons of bands touring to choose from, along with arcades everywhere, so much to do as a teenager. Nothing compares.

  49. TRUCKERMANN92 on March 7, 2023 at 6:52 am
