Maybe 90% towards the UV range but with those but will slope towards 40-50%at actual blue range. It’s technically not false advertising but is misleading

  2. BuggyFanatic on April 25, 2022 at 6:51 pm

Actually the J+S blocks out 52% of the blue light, they claim it blocks out 90% of "harmful " blue light. And you’re right the percentage of blue light blocking it goes along the color of the lens with some red lens being able to block up to 100% of blue light.

In one of your other videos I thought you explained the difference between blue light filtering glasses and computer glasses. Since computer glasses have magnification and these do not, would they not just be considered standard blue light filtering glasses?

Speaking of cleaning lenses, my regular Rx glasses set smudged frequently. I found using the provided lens wipe just smeared dirt around and then got dirty itself.
I have since been cleaning them under the faucet with dish detergent. Is that bad? Am I ruining my lenses? What is the best way to clean them?

Any recommendations for decent, affordable wear over or clip-on computer glasses (to wear over prescription glasses)?

  8. PixelPusha on April 25, 2022 at 6:56 pm

This was super helpful and well done, well organized. Much appreciated!

  9. Dirt Nassty on April 25, 2022 at 6:57 pm

I have owned and worn the j&s for almost 2 years now absolutely love them they are exteeeeemwly comfortable I honestly forget they’re even on my head! I’m not very careful with them either and they still look and feel exactly like they did the say I opened them! Worth every penny of 25 bucks I paid for them

  10. Hundre on April 25, 2022 at 6:57 pm

I bought the gammarays, and personally think that it’s crap. One lens blocks blue, the other purple.
Also, shouldn’t the lenses circle around your complete eye sight, or shouldn’t the glasses somehow close off the sides? I’m asking because the lenses aren’t blocking from just one side, but both. Which means the light that is coming in from the sides and rear are also being filtered, and the blue light is now concentrated from the cambered lenses and being shot straight into your eyes. So whats the point of these "normal" shaped glasses? The only scenario where these would work is in a pitch black room.

Hey Oliver, thank you so much for your videos. They are most helpful!

I wanted to ask what your opinion would be on the Barner Computer Glasses. They are currently crowdfunding for their second edition of computer glasses. Their first release seems to have done well and fetched some good reviews. Link to their current campaign can be found here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/edugaya/barner-20-the-ultimate-computer-glasses/updates

I am working at a computer all day and have developed eye strain and a little bit of dryness, so I’m looking for a solution for everyday use. I too tried out the Flux program but I’m not an avid fan of the tint as it interferes with the true monitor colour when I’m painting.

What drew me to the Barner brand specifically was the design/colour range and sunglasses clip-on option as well as the lack of obvious yellow tint. As you’ve mentioned about other brands, Barner also doesn’t talk about magnificaiton and I don’t know how to find out if they have it or not.

    Thank you for your time,
    Toni

Are you able to do actual tests on different computer glasses/blue light filter glasses to see how much they actually reduce blue light compared to what they claim

  20. Lainie Landry on April 25, 2022 at 7:12 pm

  23. D Odle on April 25, 2022 at 7:15 pm

Thanks for the videos – nice to have someone do all the research for us 🙂
I am a graphic artist and need a pair, hopefully sub-$100, and need a large frame. You mentioned in one of your videos that Gunnars weren’t big enough for you? Is there a brand or frame option you suggest? I was settled on Gunnar until I heard you mention (in another video) that they were too small for you. Thanks in advance!

  25. Byynx on April 25, 2022 at 7:19 pm

But these 3 glasses only blocks blue light, or do they have those computer glasses characteristics like centered "optical center" with some magnification ?

  26. Prometh on April 25, 2022 at 7:20 pm

    Hi Oliver
I previously bought a pair of gunnar glasses and they actually cause me to have a bit of eye discomfort. I have slight astigmatism in both my eyes but so slight that I still maintain 20/20 vision and as a result never worn prescription glasses all my life. I also tried the uvex skyper, they worked great with no discomfort , however, the color distortion was just too much for me to use at work. I want to give the glasses in the video a try but I am afraid of what happened with the gunnars, I suspect my problems with the gunnars were because of their .25x magnification. Could you tell me if the glasses in the video have magnification? If not, did you test them like you did with the gunnars? thanks you!

Hey man great videos. I watched most of your videos and they educated me a lot. I’m liking the felixgray but they don’t have my size. My size is 55-17-140 what do you recommend since felixgray does not go up to my size. I’m more interested in the computer glasses. Please advise thank you so much.

  38. Rusty Nail on April 25, 2022 at 7:34 pm

Great review! I will say I’ve been using the Gama Ray’s for over a year and you’re dead on with the smudging!! But..They’re really good glasses! You learn not to touch the lenses after you wipe them down. These glasses have all but eliminated my eye strain which lead to dry tired eyes. The frames are OK nothing special and the comfort is really good. They’re build quality is actually good. I myself recommend the Gama Rays.

  39. SAVAGEPANDA_9106 on April 25, 2022 at 7:35 pm

Which is better for 4hrs of gaming j+s HD or LCD

  40. Keyaan Mantah on April 25, 2022 at 7:35 pm

  42. Cotivity on April 25, 2022 at 7:40 pm

  43. RaceHead on April 25, 2022 at 7:43 pm

    What about for RX?

  44. THEmemeguy on April 25, 2022 at 7:44 pm

So we know that the blue light is between 380-500 and the harmfull part is from 415 to 455 can we block the harmfull part for a safer work?. cuz I want to learn programing and I’m afraid about my only eye (the other is lazy)?

  45. Gobzz Blendzz on April 25, 2022 at 7:44 pm

For everyone who has the J&S they do block 90% but he has the wrong ones.. I have both pairs. The one in the vid is for reading (low) and the the ones that block 90% are for gaming and they do have an amber tint on them. You have to select the correct pair for 90% (HD and they’re only like 5 buck more on amazon) they last about a year had mine for 8months of heavy usage before I saw a real downgrade not too bad imo and I’ve only had the HD ones for a couple days but they seem way better hope this is helpful
