  13. Outer Marker on January 12, 2023 at 3:08 am

Pro tip. Want your laptop to last? Stop blocking heat vents. Put something hard and flat on the bed, couch etc then put the laptop on _that._
Better still get a simple usb cooling pad.

  14. Danner Banks on January 12, 2023 at 3:08 am

The Acer Chromebook Spin 714 … Just why. Runs Chrome OS and you may as well get a surface pro

    MacBook M2 is budget friendly?

  17. Big Wave_Dave on January 12, 2023 at 3:14 am

If you´re embarrassed about pulling your laptop out at a coffee shop 1) find a better coffee shop 2) seek mental health counseling for your vanity. Also, using a chromebook (android device) doesn´t work effectively for students using online textbooks from certain huge textbook companies. Also, students use their laptops 24/7 to run verry inefficient LMS and elearning software so don´t assume a wimpy chromebook is at all adequate–it is not. One needs a fairly large screen as the ´cram-ware´ web apps waste a lot of screen real estate due to the browser-web UIs

  18. Ilya on January 12, 2023 at 3:15 am

Are people getting laptops for the holidays?! The biggest gift I got last year was a $25 Lego set.

    Edit: No, I’m not a kid. I’m 36. Ok, yeah maybe I am still a kid though…

  19. NJ Mlimi on January 12, 2023 at 3:15 am

This should have been titled, my favourite laptops to buy in 2022. I know it’s a subjective matter but there’s definitely some better laptops for the prices he mentioned.

Overall I’d give this video a 6.6 out of 10

  20. JogBird on January 12, 2023 at 3:16 am

They were somehow making the restaurant run for years until Gordon came and made it closed in 10 months.

  33. Gerald Parker on January 12, 2023 at 3:29 am

Wtf is “budget” about any if these except that Lenovo Chromebook…

What happened to the “$300 get me through college” laptops that had an i3 or equivalent (not lower – no Celerons or “Pentium”).

They looked like crap and most everything about them was just”ok” – but they were fast enough to get plenty done and usually had 1 memory slot available when you needed to improve performance.

Everything now is soldered on and stuck at that level…

Anyway – sorry this old man is yelling at clouds again…

  34. Greg Kramer on January 12, 2023 at 3:30 am

I am still thinking coffee shop status symbol. Important for all the douchebags out there!

  38. Through The Dash Cam (Scotland) on January 12, 2023 at 3:35 am

Clearly, CNET have no idea what "budget" means.

  39. Bhavneet Singh on January 12, 2023 at 3:35 am

Macbook is a budget laptop 🤔🤐

  40. timtampa on January 12, 2023 at 3:36 am

A Chromebook is NOT a laptop, it’s a Chromebook. I consider a laptop, like most of the world, to have a file browser and the ability to install programs. If I can’t run this program or utility, game, etc, it’s a Chromebook or tablet.

A Surface Pro is a much better option, but it’s a Windows tablet. A Surface Laptop Go 2 is a budget Windows tablet.

I would like to see a better breakdown of devices. For example, these are good for kids. These models are good for your parents or grandparents. This model is good if you want to do some photo or video editing. You get the idea.

  41. Cemito on January 12, 2023 at 3:37 am

    Budget friendly? LOL good joke

  42. Jay White on January 12, 2023 at 3:37 am

    I’ve got M1 MacBook Air 💻

  43. Bruno Alexandre on January 12, 2023 at 3:38 am

I search youtube in search of "best battery duration laptops" and results are too random…and no one seem to know which laptop is the best in battery category".
As a truck driver I only charge my surface go when I get acess to wall plug which can happens 1 day per week or even 2 weeks so Im limited to 2 hours and half (easy to run, low spec) gaming.

  44. Atuhaire Santrina on January 12, 2023 at 3:41 am

    How much money

  45. Mi Box on January 12, 2023 at 3:41 am

Hey CNET these are not budget friendly. I can buy a 12 Gb 3080 for less than these "budget friendly laptops"

  46. coalie roller on January 12, 2023 at 3:46 am

laptop as a gift, extremely bad idea, what happens if the laptop doesnt fulfill the users requirement. There is so many variables on it.

  47. Mike Hog A Nator on January 12, 2023 at 3:47 am

Budget for me & most is $500 and less 🤟

  48. Cobalt Blue on January 12, 2023 at 3:49 am

This was a really good mixture of a lot of things so yes I prove this message but I would actually still recommend the M1 macbook is plenty powerful it’s cheaper and why would you spend $200 more for A1080P camera

  49. SS Bond on January 12, 2023 at 3:50 am

Chromebooks are not real laptops and neither are tablets.

  50. Andrew Johnson on January 12, 2023 at 3:51 am

The latest laptops are turning speedier. And expecting better results with newer Mediatek modems that promise up to 7.9gbps speed.
