I have a macbook air m1 which is a very very good laptop BUT. Programmimg in Visual Studio in C++, python, java…yeah not happening. VirtualBox is not supported on M1 macs either…so yeah…selling it and buying a windows laptop with dual boot to linux soon. Will save me a lot of trouble and compatibility issues.

The newest 16 inch macbook is probably the best the performance is so nuts it will do anything but it’s up to you if you want to pay 2.6k for a laptop

11:20 I dont want to start a discussion but linux have change so much in the last years and its not that you neet you Terminal to running Linux f.ex. apps you can easily downlaod in the app store on some distros ( f.ex. popos, ubuntu,…). And it maybe seems like difficult but it isnt, if you using linux for less then a month ou already know everthing you neet for using linux for everthing.

When you list LTT while saying reviewers don’t stress test. I’d say LTT is one of the best sources for stress test and technical info not found on a spec list

This video is better than 90% content out there. Truly calm, paced, multi-faceted, deeply analysed, data driven recommendation. Much Appreciated.

  16. Unknown on September 21, 2022 at 4:36 am

Hey, what kind of computer specs do I need to have for android development and to run IDE’s ( specifically IntellJ IDEA) smoothly? I should mention I’m on a small budget… And, my current computer processor is a AMD 2C + 6Gpu that will not run it smoothly without it locking up. Also, can you tell me if a AMD A12 9800E processer would work better?

  24. Rob Oo on September 21, 2022 at 4:44 am

for iOS/iPadOS app development, is the new M2 Macbook air with 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD sufficient? or will I need more RAM or more SSD space? I plan to use Xcode/swift for app development. Any suggestions? should I go for the much more expensive 16" M1 pro macbook pro?? is 16" necessary or can I program with 13.6" screen size? What do I not know that might hurt me later on?

  28. Self Made-J Tekken on September 21, 2022 at 4:47 am

Lol no disrespect to Mac as i use iPhone 13pm and i love it but when it comes to IT stuff Windows is the king of the Jungle. You feels much free and Mobile when it comes to windows Mac just ties you.
Yet again the battery of the Mac is just broken cracked and better

  29. Prabhu Madipalli on September 21, 2022 at 4:49 am

I am not saying that you said Windows is bad for programming but, windows had become great platform for Developing because of WSL & WSLg and you should have mentioned this….

  35. Anna Nikolayan on September 21, 2022 at 4:55 am

    What about HP laptops 🙄🙄🙄

  36. Anja on September 21, 2022 at 4:56 am

If you are a game programmer you will need a good GPU for light baking because it runs a lot faster compared to baking on the CPU. It can get the process from an hour down to a few minutes. And you want to be able to test your game at a reasonable frame rate.

  37. adtc on September 21, 2022 at 4:56 am

"unless you touch type"? Touch typing should be MANDATORY for programmers! The optional thing shouldn’t be touch typing, it should be "which layout". My personal choice is the Dvorak layout.

  40. jp dwmkryft on September 21, 2022 at 5:00 am

The answer is simple: something old and rugged at a good price.

  41. Jo Sch on September 21, 2022 at 5:00 am

    Hello,
For a hardware developer (FPGA), the needs are not the same as for software developers. Synthesis tools use massively parallelism and massively complex data structures. In this case, the priorities are first a powerful CPU with enough cores and a lot of RAM. This order is also valid when you have to produce the whole software part of an embedded system (OS, applications etc…). The operating system is also important, since the main manufacturers (Xilinx and Intel FPGA) do not edit their software for Mac.
    Kind regards.
    Jo

  45. Moises The Entrepreneur on September 21, 2022 at 5:04 am

I own a hp envy x360 with amd 7nm cpu 8 cores 16 threads it’s a beast nice screen also ips panel with good colors. I see alot of devs having apple laptops I think they are garbage honestly & so unreliable also using intels power-hungry cpus with alot of high thermal then you get throttled

  46. 3dgar 7eandro on September 21, 2022 at 5:05 am

Is very nice to see Oliver Queen is also a full time programmer as Felicity😎 😂😂👏👌👌

Hey guys! I have a ThinkPad T460 with a i7-6600U @ 2.60GHz, 16GB ram (@1600) and 512GB SSD; until now, Zero issues. Do you think that It could last for at least a couple of years more? or Do you recommend a renewal? I just use my laptop for working and programming stuff – no video editing or gaming. waiting for your comments! THANK YOU!
