My grandma gave my parents her Buick back in the early 90’s (probably 93 or so) and it still had the car phone in it. I was about 8 years old and fascinated with that thing, and the idea that you could basically take a phone anywhere that wasn’t wired to your house.

Me and my cousin thought we was all that with the car phone he would drive his mom’s car and we had a car phone built in. But this was like in the later 90s when people were still using pagers and landlines as well.

The first cell phone I had was a company owned flip phone back in 1996 all out going calls were free but incoming calls were like 1.99 a minute. When my mom found out I was using a cell phone back then she thought I was selling drugs or something lol
Those cell phones gave you brain cancer

I got my first cell phone in ’98 or’99, after a payphone kept eating my quarters. It was the SAMSUNG SCH-8500.
