Hi, you seem to have lots of knowledge for battery / custom system… i have 12.6kw with 7.6kw string inverter. What and how can i add battery backup (to use at night ) looking for good system to add to this tesla solar

  2. Keith Mc on August 26, 2022 at 2:53 am

Would it be proper when the sun is not available, to use a 12 volt 10 amp car charger attached to the input of your solar charge controller to charge a 12 volt 100 amp hour lithium iron phosphate battery? My reasoning is to store electricity during a power company blackout when my solar capacity is not enough.

  3. Edward Villarreal on August 26, 2022 at 2:55 am

How well would EG4 LiFePO4 Server Rack Battery’s fit on the Dewalt rack? Could you add bus bars to the rack?

  4. Tom cat on August 26, 2022 at 2:56 am

you build very nice clean systems

  5. Tensai on August 26, 2022 at 2:57 am

i have a question, no one answered me, but i believe you can help me.
i am a collage student planning to live in a caravan, i have my gaming pc, and i calculated that i need 5kwh worth of energy to run it for 1.5 days.
since the pc takes AC voltage, and i need 5kwh capacity, do i need a 5kwh battery? or since the battery is in DC the Wh will change?
and for power efficiency not price, should i use 48v battery or 24v or 12v?

Hello from Sacramento CA. And yes 5pm to 8 pm highest peak rate then 3to5 8to10. So yes would be interested in that kind of system and not having any issues doing the wiring. Thanks again Will

Hello, where i can buy that fuse?

  14. Bryan Family on August 26, 2022 at 3:10 am

You could put them in the truck of your Tesla and then double your range… LOL

  15. Jose Peixoto on August 26, 2022 at 3:10 am

Do you ever get your money back for that, or is it just a toy, those batteries are expensive?

what is the wattage of the array? i missed it if you mentioned, sorry. also do you have multiple arrays set up for each system or is it one array going to each?

  18. Mike Broom on August 26, 2022 at 3:17 am

I’ll keep preaching zero export till our laws here are fixed.

  19. KiltedSkipper on August 26, 2022 at 3:17 am

Hello. Love all the information in your videos. I have a question from a little bit older video.

Can you use only 3 leads on a 4s BMS without having a problem?

  20. Below Average Joe on August 26, 2022 at 3:17 am

Zero? Why not down to 80 or 90% DoD? Don’t you get significantly more cycles out of the cells that way?

  21. Rupesh Rathod on August 26, 2022 at 3:18 am

hello, did you connect bms also to down shelves ? or you had used only 1 bms to both shelves ?

  22. GoTellJesusSaves on August 26, 2022 at 3:19 am

    Genius application. Thanks!

  23. theMekanik on August 26, 2022 at 3:21 am

So is it less expensive to build it this way with out rack mount batteries??

  24. Anita Hamlin on August 26, 2022 at 3:21 am

I love that your success has made this possible. You are amazing Will!

  25. iiinsaiii on August 26, 2022 at 3:21 am

Question ☝️ how long does it take to full charge those batteries from empty with solar?

  26. Center Right Proud American on August 26, 2022 at 3:21 am

Will, at 1:40 of the video you mention that you use a NEMA 6-50. The Nema 6-50 has no neutral so what did you do for neutral? Since you only have a 240V load on the back-up, did you leave the neutral in and out unconnected?

  27. Tyler Baldwin on August 26, 2022 at 3:23 am

If only you knew how much harm they did to the earth and people mining the minerals to make that lithium battery 😂 but what do people like you know abou mining and other large industries absolutely nothing hahaha have fun with all your dead batterys In a couple years haha any lithium battery these days maybe lasts 2-3 years in optimum conditions. 100% junk!

  28. Energie&Hobby on August 26, 2022 at 3:24 am

In the event of a blackout… nothing works anymore!
Nothing? no… one tesla is still driving =)

I can understand you… 30kwh in the basement as a "reserve" is very reassuring.

  29. Saviour Laferla on August 26, 2022 at 3:24 am

Can I connect it with a 36 volts battery? Thanks and keep it up.

  30. imRikkiBobbi on August 26, 2022 at 3:24 am

Will, I really love all the info you put out. If you get a moment, i’m at the top of the waitlist for the Toyota BV4X and if you could recommend which precise videos and the order to watch to build a solar system and battery storage to recharge the Bv4x versus using the grid. I’m looking at a pergola in my back yard later this year with solar panels for the overhead covering as well as on the side of my house as a quasi shed that will be an overhead parking roof for my SeaDoo and ev lawnmower. All in all i’m looking at having over 10 panels depending on their width/length. The side of the house is 6 feet wide and 24 feet long and gets sun from Noon to 7p daily. The pergola roof will get sun from around 10-11am till sundown as the sun sets facing my backyard.

  31. Gary Smith on August 26, 2022 at 3:26 am

I bet you got a video on li fe po batteries on life expectancy and depth of charge and discharge ! Can I get a link ? Awesome vid !

  32. Alexandre Esquenet on August 26, 2022 at 3:27 am

This week end I change my autonomous station 24V to 48V, 15kWh to 20 kWh. I’m already charging my EV car everyday for last 3 years with it (85 000 km), lifeypo4 Winston cells, no capacity degradation so far.

  33. zodiacfml on August 26, 2022 at 3:27 am

30kwh is a dream and a system that looks as small and simple as this vs cylindrical battery systems just a few years ago.

  34. J K on August 26, 2022 at 3:27 am

QUESTION: Can a dual Bluetti AC300 system be used to connect to an electric vehicle charging system and charge your tesla or other ev?

I think you tried this on eco flow and it had an issue.

  35. GlossyFPV on August 26, 2022 at 3:27 am

Really surprised after all the improvements in batteries over the years how expensive solar really still is. Its not even close to feasible for the average homeowner. I would need at least 100kwh worth of lifepo4 a day. Looking at $15k alone just for batteries. Been planning to go off grid for at least 5-8 years now and was hoping that by now things would have gotten better..

  36. Rob Lewis on August 26, 2022 at 3:28 am

Low voltage who cares? Functionality is what counts.

  37. HighTechLab on August 26, 2022 at 3:29 am

That’s a really nice 6048 you got there

  38. Lou Cinci on August 26, 2022 at 3:29 am

Simply config. Good solution and use of gear. Thanks for sharing

  39. Ray Downs on August 26, 2022 at 3:30 am

Great video Will. I would like to be able to charge my Tesla from my RV, is that even possible? I have about 30′ x 8′ of roof.

  40. SailorGolf on August 26, 2022 at 3:31 am

VERY interested in seeing the time degradation of Grade B vs. Grade A cells. However, don’t know how much you’ll be cycling them if only a ‘backup’ system?? Maybe try using them First when charging EV and then check back in 1-2&3 years and let’s see how LiFePo4 is going to hold up over time !! Should tell all of us other users what’s really going on inside our own batteries !!! Thanks Will for all you do !!

  41. Solai Mari on August 26, 2022 at 3:31 am

how many backups for your battery working 1 charge

  42. John Brewer on August 26, 2022 at 3:31 am

If the grid is down and his backup solar is down, this probably would be down too, because he just got hit with an EMP!! LOL, JK

  43. George Murillo on August 26, 2022 at 3:34 am

Hey your videos are great I love your detailed explanations. What’s your opinion on Delta Eco flow systems as a generator or a whole home solar system for off grid living.

  44. Thylacine on August 26, 2022 at 3:35 am

    You seem smart…

  45. Jason J. Taylor on August 26, 2022 at 3:40 am

Question. Can you have a different battery bank with different voltages tie to different inverters then to same 120 vac output?

  46. Jimmy Call on August 26, 2022 at 3:42 am

Finally your constructions are looking good, not dodgy.

  47. Omkar Teli on August 26, 2022 at 3:48 am

Good to see the testing that you are doing. You have shown so many battery packs we are started to understand what’s inside. There is one popular E dirt bike Sur Ron. I feel that is a reliable battery pack. Can show us what’s different in it. Can you make up a tear-down video of SurRon’s battery pack?

  48. CJAX-CJAX on August 26, 2022 at 3:48 am

Will… my company is on the hunt for a consultant for a short term project that will require a higher storage/output than this, but very similar industrial setup. If you’re available or have a good recommendation of someone else, then please DM me. Thanks – CJAX

  49. The Family Farm Homestead on August 26, 2022 at 3:48 am

Could you do a video and building a solar system to produce 440V 60HZ 3 phase system parts needed and such? I am not asking you to design one for me as I would most likely modify it anyway. I know how to hook up DC voltage as well as 120, 240 volts single phase and 220, 440, 660, and 880 3 phase. I use to work as an electrician at a shipyard. Solar is something new to me but I am learning.

  50. cdoublejj on August 26, 2022 at 3:50 am

i’m looking at that little $750 all in one yellow unit (2) for a beginner baby setup. it owuld be cool if you oculd run more than 2 though to buy more as you go 6k watts is enough to run centeral air …i think… and for sure a fridge and tv
