I’m an inform buyer and it pisses me off when I see sales reps ripping off people, especially older folks. I have seem them telling lies “you need a new phone because that one is not supported”, “that used phone from your friend is not good”, “I can only transfer your number to a post paid plan”, “you get more benefits with this plan”. Regular d##m sales reps would tell me lies as well, but I don’t buy their crap! Normally experience managers just approach me and get me what I want, because they can see that I know what they are doing to other people. I know pay attention to everything I buy and have saved thousands.

GUYS KEEP THIS IN MIND…THESE EMPLOYEES ARE SALESMAN SO IF YOU GO INTO A STORE…EXPECT TO BE SOLD ON MORE STUFF BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT CLERKS…DEY ARE TRYING TO GET PAID SO YOU CANT BLAME THEM FOR HUSTLING YOU BUT AT THE SAME TIME THE GAME CAN GET REAL DIRTY WITH THESE TACTICS TO THE POINT YOUR FUCKED IN THE END…LIKE HE SAID…BUY ONLINE…DO YOUR RESEARCH…BUY ONLINE…IF YOU DONT NEED IT…DONT FALL FOR IT…YOU CAN GO INTO A STORE AND JUST BUY THE PHONE YOU NEED WITHOUT HAVING TO GET ANYTHING ELSE LIKE ACCESSORIES AND TABLETS…BUNDLES ARE JUST THE SALESMAN WAY OF INCREASING THE PROFIT MARGIN…VERIZON MAKES YOU PAY THE SALES TAX OFF TOTAL PRICE OF THE PHONE DEPENDING ON WHAT STATE YOU LIVE…BUY YOUR ACCESSORIES BEFORE YOU GET THE PHONE IF YOU GO INTO A STORE….DONT LET ANYONE MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU YOUR MAKING A BAD PURCHASE…NOW IF YOU HAVE ADDITIONAL MONEY DUE LIKE A DOWNPAYMENT THEN DATS CUZ OF YOUR CREDIT…MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHY THE COST IS THE WAY IT IS AND NOT JUST CUZ DEY SAY IT IS

So if I buy an unlocked phone and then go to Verizon to activate it can I also get insurance???

  7. Chad Davis on November 1, 2021 at 8:21 am

I’m a General Manager of a Verizon store. Let me know where I can go so that way I can step down and not be responsible for a entire location and make $100k as a Sales Rep because as a General Manager of a Verizon Store that sells over 200 phones a month I don’t make that much.

  8. Average Joe on November 1, 2021 at 8:23 am

The only way to get an upgrade(NOT early upgrade) is to pay in full. If your phone is paid off, an upgrade doesn’t do ANYTHING for you. When you get a new phone, you LOSE your upgrade hahaha. You have to share it with another line on your plan to get value( can upgrade DIFFERENT line, ANYTIME, NO MORE PAYMENTS, KEEP or TRADE IN for $$$).

15 year former employee here. While it had been years since I saw employees making more than $65k, this is 100% accurate. Verizon often made sure we knew what we should be saying to customers, they encouraged double speak and subterfuge directly as times, but almost always by looking the other way or pressuring reps to hit their numbers.

  10. Grenalis on November 1, 2021 at 8:24 am

There is a reason to go into a store. To hold the phones, to find the one that you like in your hand the best.

I commend you on your approach. I worked for a Sprint dealer and always followed the same approach and remember the owner saying, "I believe you are the most requested employee I have ever had and I’ve been open a long time." And I just told him, "there’s no science behind it, treat everyone like family". Respect always ran both ways. That’s just good business

How exactly do you get a phone for $50????

  16. d n on November 1, 2021 at 8:35 am

We bought two iPhone 8 pluses two years ago with a buy one get one free for 1000, but I noticed that on the bill it’s $100 extra on the bill and that’s more than two grand savings my ass. And accessories they charge you an arm and a leg with payment system like 20% interest with they are monthly payment bullshit.

  17. Zelenka Maarit on November 1, 2021 at 8:35 am

Switched from a shared plan to an unlimited plan and added a few lines and got the iphone 8 plus this past october to this day,i haven’t been getting the credits for the one line and they have the phones under the wrong number on my plan.i have called support multiple times and they all said "we see the issues and we are going to fill out a form and get this corrected".But to this day nothing has changed. How can i this issue resolved? i really don’t want to keep calling suport because nothing is happening.Any advice would help.

Bro , u r not being 100 percent transparent. Yes I understand there are unethical sales reps out there but cell companies do have bundle deals . For example Verizon right now have free iPhone 12 offer or buy one get one offer . People can legit get great deals . Yes Verizon can be a bit expensive but it’s Verizon . They have the largest as most reliable coverage. So obviously u gotta have to pay if u wanna get great service. Lol

I just went to Verizon because I recently got out of cricket. So I unlocked my phone and went to the Verizon so I can use my own phone with them and they said my phone is not compatible which is bull because I know that it will work with Verizon they just want me to buy a phone directly from them.

I pay far less than I did at Verizon. Yes, I love the service, but paying $25 a month with Visible gives me similar service (but slower) and unlimited hotspot. I no longer pay this bill where I finance multiple devices like an iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch, etc. I buy my devices outright now.

Hey! I just purchased a refurbished Note 9 from Amazon that is for Verizon. What is the next step I need to take in activating my new phone. I’m switching over from a Note 5 to a Note 9. Do I need to go to the store to purchase a sim chip?

  35. Chandler Misener on November 1, 2021 at 9:00 am

You werent a sales rep, you were an order taker.

Take the time to learn about the customer, and base your recommendations for additional product/services on what you discover. Dont ever lie to a customer, ever! However there’s no moral dilemma with pitching more than the bare minimum

I worked at a clothing store back in Hawaii and I absolutely loved working there. The people, the atmosphere and the customers were all great. But what I hated the most was how corporate always looked at the bottom line. You could give great customer service but if you never tried to “add on” to the customer transaction corporate seen it as not doing your job. They use to push adding on so much that it was ridiculous!! My philosophy was always giving great customer service and getting the customer what they wanted and not to make them feel pressured into getting something that they didn’t want in the first place. Because if I was in the customers shoes and got “wallet raped” at a store that I was set on just getting certain items I wouldn’t be a return customer. I use to tell all my sells associates that I would rather have 1 repeat customer than 5 new ones. Repeat customers is what makes a business strive in the long run.

Sounds like a disgruntled employee who couldn’t actually perform at his job. Most sales professional are not in it to rip people off it’s about building relationships with each customer or client, finding and fixing the needs they have.

  46. CrispyCruiser on November 1, 2021 at 9:09 am

I worked for Verizon and ATT. I agree with everything he said EXCEPT the salaries: I was making 45k as an average retail employee in 2014. Top of the top reps made 65k.

When I worked Verizon call center there were 1 or 2 people out of 1,200 that made 100k, but what they didn’t tell you is they worked 80 hours a week. Verizon call center started sales reps at $11 an hour or 22k a year. So you needed to make 60k a year in commission to hit your goal. Can you imagine that level of stress every day? Its not worth it. An older rep in her 50s told me in the late 90s they could make 80k no problem but it’s not like that anymore. These corporations are trying to cut salaries and benefits every quarter year over year.

An average rep can expect to make 45-50k in 2020. But he’s right the tactics they use are despicable

  47. Marc De guzman on November 1, 2021 at 9:09 am

you will only spend $50-$80 if your payment record /credit history/credit standing whatever BS you call it is not fcked up, this advise still stands today ( specially now ) since most store reps will tell you not to worry about the freaking upgrade fee since they will be notating or informing corporate or will be taking advantage of some promotion so that it will be waived – NEVER EVER BELIEVE THAT SHT EVER
