I ran a GameStop for four years. My district manager was an ass. My store was always understaffed. Most of the time, my payroll budget was so garbage that I could only have one person open and two people close.
Three months after I quit, I was informed the district manager and regional manager got fired. These guys were absolute yes-men to the company, but all of a sudden agreed with everything I’ve ever said about the company when they got fired.
I don’t even want to use social media anymore, why would I ever want the metaverse?! And I know there’s many people that agree with that.
Venom was a great/fun movie. The sequel was a complete TURD!
My brother and I are from an era where grinding in MMORPGs was commonplace. I personally don’t mind grinding for hours on end without spending a red cent on gear or items. Anyone silly enough to spend $100,000 on virtual gear needs to seriously reflect on their life.
As someone from the UK I’ve had to look up baseball season and all I can say is, too long lol. Does Pat have any idea how long the season for Football (what you’ll call scoccer) is in Europe? We stop club football for June, July, some of August and usually in that ‘stop’, International football tournaments are held. That changed this year as the World Cup is to be held in Qatar in Winter but I believe that means club seasons are just starting earlier in August.
19:55 Basically a free promotion. Pat really wants that Raid Shadow Legends sponsorship. YouTubers are so fucking fake and gross now.
Pat, Garfield is owned by Nickelodeon. They bought the IP a few years ago
I was not a fan of baseball until I went to a game. It’s a lot of fun.
The “It’s Morbin Time” and Morbius memes are just a joke. Sony didn’t realize they’re laughing AT them, not WITH them.
39:44 For the gamestop walk out. Fuck the rest of the video, it’s boring.
OMG. 43:30. Ian still thinks trickledown economics exists 😂😂😂. Ian – it was a term a journalist made up and no economist has ever thought it was a good idea. If you want to believe in it though, we are currently experiencing what would be considered the opposite, trickle up economics, and look where we are now with rent, gas, food, etc.
Edit – I love the show and what the GameStop employees did, it was a good thing. Just needed to get the pet peeve of people who think trickle down economics even existed off my chest.
This nickelodeon game is free this month on ps plus in case someone was interested and didn’t kno
That 100,000 dollar number for diablo immortal was calculated based on that person having really really good luck. In reality with more average luck you’re talking north of 200,000 dollars or with bad luck potentially half a million.
Also, I want everyone to take a step back and look at those numbers. The question shouldn’t be is this normal, it should be holy fucking shit there are games where you can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars. The fact that so many people just shrug their shoulders at this makes my eyes go crossed and my ears start to bleed. This industry is sick.
Metaverse and vr will be a thing but not in any of our lifetimes. For wide availability and cheap, will probly be like 2 or 3 hundred years.
What’s screwed up about the Ni No Kuni thing is all the YouTube ads I’ve gotten are clearly aimed at children. They’ve got people who sound about 15 iirc, talking like they’re on a discord call discovering cool and cute things about the game.
i love these videos.
SEGE is coming up in the world baby! Look forward seeing you at our "local" game convention
It’s WB it’s never makes sense btw I’m also a Tom and Jerry fan
Is that Ian singing The theme song at the beginning? Its the CU Podcast 🎵
Pat: Sega doesn’t have the money to do an open world game
Yakuza: exist
Why can’t Sega just make a proper Phantasy Star game using the Unreal Engine 4 ffs
The Metaverse is just marketing blah blah for things that have long existed. I’m 100% glad corporate America’s version of the metaverse is not taking hold.
Also sesaon over. God hates the Mets and no amount of billions will fix that. 🙁
I may be painting a target on myself here
So far I installed and have played up to level 20 something monk and I really enjoyed it
After a long shit weekend I was so stoked to play and now I’m bummed
If I can’t just play and play the story quest etc what’s the point paused it to catch up with my YouTube
why can’t we just,.. a real game!!!!???? ÷
PC shit out this weekend phone was lost cat knocked a soda on my Xbox hshdhwiwhdh
Maybe I’ll hang in there and see what happens
How the fuck can you be overworked at Gamestop? Starbucks or some fast food place sure, but what do ppl even do at Gamestop! Deal with some dumb customers at a reasonable pace? Push stupid crossover promotion BS? No one is getting overworked at Gamestop.
You guys sure get off on talking shit about falling movies, IP’s etc. Bully much? Maybe book some therapy appointments. Your unresolved childhood traumas are very prevalent and very unresolved.
Are you going to mention your BAD TAKE regarding Diablo immortal?
I don’t support mass walkouts, fuck those employees. I hope they get blacklisted by all retailers because I know I sure as hell would never hire someone who walked out of their job like that
"its weird Patrick"! lol XD
You guys said the Sonic Frontiers gameplay looked like an older build, but that’s what EVERY Sonic game looks and plays like to me. Like I mean the finished, retail games all feel like unfinished alpha builds. Sonic Adventure felt like that back in the early 2000s when I first played it; at the time it struck me as being on the same level of quality as an amateur, work in progress mod for another game or something.
People constantly tell me the first 3 Sonic games on the Genesis are good but they also seem completely broken to me. Other 2d platformers from that era like like Ristar, Rocket Knight, Pulseman, ect seem like properly finished and polished games by comparison. I didn’t grow up with video games, I didn’t have any until I was a teenager and then it was PC rather than any console, so I’m speaking as an outsider as far as the 16 bit era goes. The only Sonic game I’ve ever tried that seems like a finished, polished, fully playable game is Tails Adventure
I am sure Gamestop isn’t very good or satisfying at this period of time but I just saw the phrasing in my Google feed and as someone who has been overworked for years at a retail department store, that just set me off.
Also every Gamestop I’ve been to there are 2/3 people chilling out or working doing things at their leisure. That must be a extremely bad area.
VR still has a lot of potential if the right company brought it out with the right games at the right price, but as a video game platform, as has been the case since headsets started coming out. There was never any potential for it to "reinvent our lives" as I imagine most metaverse companies would probably say. And I think Facebook is certainly neither the right company nor have they had the right games.
Game Stop is trash.
venom was fun. don’t get mad at venom because of morbius.
Ok, so….. many years ago I went to see X-Men The Last Stand and at the exact appropriate moment, even though I didn’t know it was coming, I stood up in the theater and yelled "Don’t you know who I am? I’m the juggernaut, Bitch!"
My friend who I was at the movie with was all "how did you know?" The internet, bud.
Point is, memes have been in and come from movies for ages, and money people don’t know anything, are completely out of touch with reality and don’t understand memes or people or anything except that they like making money and will take every perceived opportunity to do so.
So, it’s no surprise to see Morbius fail twice in the theaters. Money people make those decisions.
And just to be clear, I’m not talking about accountants…. I’m talking about the people accountants work for.
60 bucks sounds reasonable to me
I love how Intellivision always release their statements right after you record. You really live rent-free in their heads!
Baseball is not too long, just impatient people
Fyre Island Festival comes to mind with the "influencers" scamming people.
Jake Paul might very well be f*ckin’ with the wrong company with these NFTs.
I was a shift manager at auto zone when I was younger. Each week I would have more sales numbers than the other two shift managers combined. They were both working 40+ hours a week and I was working about 30 because I was in school. The store manager would still give me a hard time for not pushing the stupid crap on people. People would come in and ask for me all the time and the other guys got chapped by that. I’m the end my manager was giving me a hard time about a pointless checklist and I had enough. I was supposed to be there at 6 am to help set up the store with him because the regional manager was coming that day. I didn’t go or answer his multiple phone calls and turned my store key in later that day. He was really mad to say the least, he had to work a 16 hour day because of it. Well deserved!
This podcast is so fetch!
Hello Everybody!
The thing with Blizzard games is, I have to wonder who is still playing those anymore. They’re so irrelevant with the younger generation, and their core fanbase left long ago.
Ian – you are looking better bro! love you guys
Listening to this podcast while working my shitty second job Thursday nights is a highlight of the week. I love what you both do Pat and Ian.❤️
Its clear you don’t do homework for movies. Jurassic worlds not out till the 10th. Nice of you to tell everyone you don’t like it before it’s out. Excellent reporting as always
Gamestop employees walking out is THE HEADLINE of the fucking video, yet it doesn’t come up for 39 MINUTES. Don’t support these slimy fuck tactics.
I worked a bunch of corporate retail jobs, and Ian is right: it’s always the district managers that are THE WORST. I have vivid memories of working for Barnes and Noble and the DM was a Ken-doll-looking demon from hell.
Last game I bought at GameStop was titanfall 2
LOL
When pixel Ian popped up I was just thinking darn he is getting Lil thicker must be eating good
