"50% of "black people" want more cops in their neighborhoods" if you list *literally no other alternatives* in your poll. and even then you still just barely break the halfway mark. dwell on that one for a minute

  5. Moist Nugget on August 31, 2021 at 10:36 pm

Not a native speaker so maybe i got this confused. The point of the video was to give reasons why to keep his statues. Then they said he violently ended a slave uprising and argued against black peoples right to vote? and this is a pro argument how? wtf is this?

I really like the historical context Hasan gives

They should keep the statue of the poor warhorse

  9. Dennis on August 31, 2021 at 10:41 pm

I know a lot of filthy, diseased hearts would like to believe otherwise, but there is nothing pro-slavery about this and this was part of a whole series (now deleted) called "Who Was ____". They were poorly written and mixed random facts with actual virtues of the people they talked about in a confusing way (like one in which made it sound like we should venerate Thomas Jefferson because he liked ballroom dancing). This video came right on the heels of "Who Was Ulysses S. Grant" and "Who Was Abraham Lincoln", the latter of which called Lincoln’s defeat of Lee "his most crowning achievement." Lincoln himself called John Brown a "misguided fanatic."

    Prajer U? Don’t you mean Prager U?

  15. Eden Elvis on August 31, 2021 at 10:44 pm

Reasons R. E. Lee was a great guy and we should leave his statues up (according to pragerU):
    1. He is tangentially related to George Washington, and lived near where Washington used to live.
    2. He nobly crushed a treasonous rebellion by slaves and ‘radical abolitionists’
    3. He thought that slavery was so bad for white people that it was bad overall despite being good for black people.
    4. He OPPOSED secession by taking up arms for the Confederacy and becoming the de facto commander of the entire Eastern theatre.
    5. He became an icon for reconciliation by supporting education for black people but opposing their right to vote?
    6. He died and was buried near his horse? (The horse fabled to "buck any black person who tried to ride it?)

  16. Jacob Besser on August 31, 2021 at 10:45 pm

I haven’t watched the video but I imagine this will be the Aristotle argument that slaves worked closely with individuals who were extremely accomplished and so they were able to inherit those values from them. Today what we might have called slaves then now work under policies and programs regurgitated by manager drones. That’s the Aristotle argument.

I watch enough Atun-Shei Films to see through this shit.

  20. slugoo on August 31, 2021 at 10:50 pm

Robert E Lee didn’t want to separate. Back then people were more loyal to their state, and he said he would go wherever Virginia went. And he was an incredible general. He did own a small number of slaves. He was a good man by the past’s standard. A bad guy by today’s standards, but it’s unfair to judge him by today’s standards.

  21. Smoke Potion on August 31, 2021 at 10:50 pm

i like how they mention Lee’s home is now Arlington Cemetary, like that wasn’t done purposefully to spite the man and his legacy after the war.

  22. EtherealStars on August 31, 2021 at 10:50 pm

"Blacks are immeasurably better off here than in Africa."
How fucking hard is it to conceptualize a humane past-present progression as an alternative to literal violation of freedom and rape of the African continent and people?
How hard is it to imagine the moral alternative, where instead of slavery, the people of Africa were either left alone, or supported in flourishing to the point where they could travel to America of their own accord? And this completely ignores the happiness of the free people in Africa who are happy regardless of the development of their respective country, some of which are greatly developed/developing.

^ Easy debunk for the confederately indoctrinated.

  23. Jesus Flores on August 31, 2021 at 10:51 pm

I mean, idiot leftists love Stalin statues & think that "communist is cool bruh" so a robert e lee statue doesn’t have to "offend anyone. Is history, not a "hate symbol".

My gut reaction to this pro slavery bs: "bruh…seriously?"

  29. Brendan Drislane on August 31, 2021 at 11:00 pm

There is some weird psychological phenomenon where people fall in love with their ancestors, despite their faults. They cannot see them as people but instead see them as icons. Its some sort of Stockholm syndrome, where you end up admiring someone you should not. I wonder if these people ever consider how these ancestors indirectly hurt them by influencing them to embrace twisted ideologies.

While Lee may be an interesting historic figure to study, he is certainly no role model or hero for anyone. He represented a political entity that was literally fighting for slavery. Its utterly bizarre that this country would have a single statue – anywhere – of this man. That PragerU video is utter nonsense. I cannot imagine who it was meant for.

  30. UPTHECHELS on August 31, 2021 at 11:02 pm

Wouldn’t say he got he’s shit pushed in he always had a lesser army but still won most battles and was definitely one of the best American generals of all time

  31. Abby Lehrke on August 31, 2021 at 11:02 pm

Lmao "It’s the site of Arlington national cemetery now" yeah they did that on purpose!! They seized his shit and razed it to put a cemetery they filled with the dudes he killed!!!

  32. Graham George on August 31, 2021 at 11:03 pm

the worst thing is that this isn’t even far off from our history textbooks, my classes have called john brown a dangerous radical abolitionist and went into great detail of lee’s warpath and strategy.

  33. Noelle Novak on August 31, 2021 at 11:04 pm

I love how their first point is just that REL was gud because everyone was fucking their cousins. AMERICA: Family First.

  34. Bridger Parker on August 31, 2021 at 11:05 pm

Yo, Lee’s Great Great Great Great Great nephew or something here, don’t celebrate the confederacy. Cool

  35. Sparkle Pawz on August 31, 2021 at 11:05 pm

So basically on why Lee’s statues should be kept up despite him not wanting any:

-His dad saw George Washington once.
-His house was close to Washington’s house.
-Said that slavery bad but also ehhh not really.
    -He betrayed his country.
    -Was against civil rights.

  36. Vidal Rodriguez on August 31, 2021 at 11:06 pm

Tbf, if the Union kept Robert E. Lee as their top general, the rebellion would’ve been put down much more sooner than it did in our TL👀
Although who knows how Americans would move forward if the war has very little impact to most of them with less casualties…maybe there’s less of a push to free slaves, as horrible as that sounds, the America of the past should never surprise us with their apathy and violence toward anyone that wasn’t white back then…

  37. teeny on August 31, 2021 at 11:08 pm

Praeger U makes a video about why Robert Lee’s statues shouldnt be taken down by presenting reasons for his statue being taken down.

    Amazing

  38. Sawyer Starnes on August 31, 2021 at 11:08 pm

  41. Ollie No on August 31, 2021 at 11:10 pm

It’s funny how conservatives are like “the party switch was a lie!! Democrats were pro slavery and republicans were against it!!!” And then they support confederate slavery leaders and literally defend slavery lmao

  42. Rhys Grealish on August 31, 2021 at 11:12 pm

It’s not just the South. People in my home state of Indiana drive around with Confederate flags hanging off their pick-up trucks.

  43. ENDOR CORE on August 31, 2021 at 11:12 pm

I love how all leftist act like they would have been just as against slavery back then as they are now😂😂 news flash everyone would like to think that buts it’s unfortunately not true.

  44. Genevieve Roy on August 31, 2021 at 11:13 pm

why is dying of a stroke a reason to have a statue again???

  45. Eli Crowe on August 31, 2021 at 11:16 pm

I just love how people talk about John Brown’s raid but nobody ever says anything about Southerners attacking and taking forts before the South attempted to secede.

  46. King of Rivia on August 31, 2021 at 11:18 pm

Welllll robert e lee wasnt a good guy but he himself wasnt evil he was just a general fighitng for his state. I get statues of him and dont mind since he was a great american general, but we all now a lot of people use it to justify racism and thats just not justifieable.

  47. Southern Gentleman on August 31, 2021 at 11:18 pm

“In this enlightened age, there are few I believe, but what will acknowledge, that slavery as an institution, is a moral & political evil in any Country.” – Robert E Lee 1856

“While we see the Course of the final abolition of human slavery is onward, & we give it the aid of our prayers & all justifiable means in our power we must leave the progress as well as the result in his hands who Sees the end” – Robert E Lee 1856

“I am rejoiced that slavery is abolished. I believe it will be greatly for the interests of the South. So fully am I satisfied of this, as regards Virginia especially, that I would cheerfully have lost all I have lost by the war, and have suffered all I have suffered, to have this object attained.” – Robert E Lee 1865

“I have always been in favor of Emancipation.” – Robert E Lee

  48. Timediamond on August 31, 2021 at 11:21 pm

Fun fact, slavery is not totally gone in the US.
Thirteenth amendmend Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, *except as a punishment for crime* whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
not really great to say *BUT* at the end of "slavery is illegal"

  49. Rastaman on August 31, 2021 at 11:23 pm

Police don’t make black people uncomfortable. Cops not from our neighborhoods and cops that don’t know how to relate with people of color make us uncomfortable. Cops need to learn how not to harass to get their point across, it’s called protect and serve not beat and accuse until innocent

  50. Josh Downer on August 31, 2021 at 11:24 pm

I just realized – they ended on the horse in hopes viewers would be sympathetic to that instead of paying attention to everything that was said before that.
