Ultimate PC/Mac Hybrid Setup:

A couple of weeks ago I made a video about my “Ultimate PC/ Mac Setup” and you guys seemed to really like it, but one of the questions that I kept getting was: “How did you get the Mac and PC to show up on one screen?”

Well in this video I will be going over step by step exactly how I accomplished this, and hopefully after watching this video you will be able to implement some of these things into your setup!

  10. First Ranger on February 23, 2023 at 5:23 am

You don’t have to name it exactly as it is on your mac lol. This is just name, nothing more.

  11. Hzleyes708 on February 23, 2023 at 5:25 am

My monitor doesn’t have data input so I had to you an hdmi splitter in order to work between Mac and pc

logitech keyboard and mouse with logitech flow, it’s the easiest way to do this and you’ll still be able to copy files between the two computers.

  15. Aron Reis on February 23, 2023 at 5:30 am

What wood panel do you use on your desk to support the monitor+ergotron weight?

  16. helloworld on February 23, 2023 at 5:30 am

1:57 You can’t merge two outputs like this. This is like shorting. One driver could be trying to raise the voltage (that’s how speaker outputs work, by dialing voltage up and down at audible frequencies) and the other could be actively trying to pull it low. This causes a tug of war between the two and they may even burn each other off. You have to use a mux chip to do this properly. There could be some product that uses a mux chip, use that instead.

Switching between Mac and Windows can be done with a hardware device called a KVM switch.

Does M1 Macbook Pro work with this Anker Tunderbolt device?

  21. Austin Woitte on February 23, 2023 at 5:33 am

Why don’t you run all of your windows cables into the docking station as well, instead of only cables for the MacBook?

  22. Robert W. on February 23, 2023 at 5:35 am

Hope you can help me. I recently bought the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 Ultrawide. I have it connected to my MacBook Pro M1 13" through a CalDigit TS4 dock. Thunderbolt from Mac to dock, display-port cable from dock to screen. My problem is, when I’m doing my online seminars, I use MS Teams. I wish to split my screen (two 27" screens in effect), one screen showing my participants, and the other screen showing the content e.g. my virtual white board which I wish to share with the group. The problem is the MacBook Pro M1 won’t support two screens apparently, something I only found out later. Do you know how I can manage this? I can’t even use the Macbook screen at the same time. If I don’t put in in clam-shell mode, the Samsung won’t receive the content from my Mac. Please help 🙏

Hi there! Can I use a magic track pad instead a mouse and works for both Mac and PC?

  24. Robert F on February 23, 2023 at 5:40 am

At the point where I am waiting to see new pros with M2 this spring and trying decide to jump ship to apple totally or buy Asus zenbook duo. My spectre from 2018 is aged though I was fox it’s issues. This setup is very appealing.

  29. Raymond Siu on February 23, 2023 at 5:48 am

Listen people you don’t need any of this crap!!! Just buy a monitor you like with 2 hdmi imputs. Plug 1 hdmi from your mac mini to imput 1 of your monitor and plus the other hdmi cable from your desktop pc to imput 2 of the monitor. DONE!!! I don’t understand this guy makes it so freaking complicated when is soooo freaking simple!

Thanks for the information and LOVE Synergy!!!!!! Game changer!!

  36. eM on February 23, 2023 at 6:00 am

Do you have a solution for splitting multiple usb devices between a Mac and a pc? I do have a basic 4 port hub split between 2 computers. In order to expand the 4 port hub I was going to daisy chain additional hubs behind it so that when switching the automagic transfer of 10+ usb devices, this would include my digital mixer, I use the usb interface for the sound and would prefer that it switches between both Mac and PC rather than using a separate audio cable.

  37. Gregor Ostanek on February 23, 2023 at 6:01 am

Does anyone try something lite this on Dell C3422WE? Monitor has integrated KVM. I want to use Macbook M1(USB C) and Lenovo (HDMI) laptop side by side to one monitor (with same keyboard and mouse connected to monitor). Do you think it will work? Thank you.

  38. One Zero on February 23, 2023 at 6:01 am

I know it’s a pretty old video, but maybe I’ll get a answer. When using this synergy and the PC is the server, are mouse and keyboard working for the macbook when the PC is off or does it always have to be turned on? Btw great video

  39. Daniel Deboer on February 23, 2023 at 6:02 am

hey Jesse, very nice video dude!

I’m wondering how did you check if your ultrawide monitor has this possibility to split both cables connected?
I’m trying to this in my ultrawide LG monitor 29WK600 and apparently it doesn’t work..

So, I’m not sure If this monitor hasn’t the software necessary installed or it is because I’m using 2x HDMI cables instead of 1x HDMI and 1x Displayport as you did..

    Do you have any idea?

    kudos from Brazil!

hi does anyone know if this would work connecting my pc via ethernet and my MacBook via Wi-Fi. It is the same internet though. I’m curious as I don’t think it would work but I hope so

  42. Ever Contreras on February 23, 2023 at 6:04 am

How can I make this work when my monitors only have one hdmi input?

  43. aweitz225 on February 23, 2023 at 6:06 am

Thanks for posting this video. I’m going for a similar set-up. Do you think the Samsung – 34” Odyssey G5 1000R Curved can support syncing two computers to it like you did for the LG?

  44. Ramon Martinez on February 23, 2023 at 6:06 am

What would be a good way to connect audio from both computers to a universal audio Apollo interface?

  47. Bridget Hieronymus on February 23, 2023 at 6:07 am

Will Synergy work with a workplace issued PC that has a firewall?

  48. JAY on February 23, 2023 at 6:09 am
