Welcome to Pan The Organizer, where you and I work together to help you improve different aspects of your life!

Cleaning your washing machine (also called washer in some countries) will help improve the performance of your washer while removing gunk, odors, mold and mildew.

For FRONT LOAD washing machines:
1) Add 2 cups (one full box) of baking soda in the washing machine.
2) Run the longest and hottest cycle possible.
3) Add 2 cups of white vinegar (with 5-10 drops of lavender essential oil) to the washing machine.
4) Run the longest and hottest cycle possible.

For TOP LOAD washers:
1) Fill your washer with hot water.
2) Add 1 quart (32 oz, or 1 liter) of chlorine bleach to the water.
3) Start the highest, largest capacity cycle and let it run for 15 minutes.
4) After 15 minutes, stop the cycle and let the mixture soak for 1 hour.
5) After 1 hour, restart the cycle and let it finish.
6) Restart steps 1 to 5 but with 1 quart of white vinegar (32 oz, or 1 liter).

If you follow these quick and easy steps, your washing machine will thank you and your clothes will smell much better! Plus you’ll lower the risks of getting mold and mildew that could have harmful effects on your family’s health!

Should vinegar be poured into the soap or bleach compartment instead of directly into the drum?

  8. Seniòr Sãbali on November 10, 2021 at 10:34 am

    Great advice. Thanks a lot

  9. Melissa Garcia on November 10, 2021 at 10:37 am

Does this stop the brown streaks from getting on your clothes?

  10. Peter Pug on November 10, 2021 at 10:39 am

Why the baking soda then another run with vinegar?? Would they work even better together at the same time!?

  11. Corey Anderson on November 10, 2021 at 10:40 am

Some jerk used the washing machine and ran an illegal substance through it. Now I am afraid to use the dang washer! And dryer, too.

  12. Mark Kunes on November 10, 2021 at 10:41 am

My son’s Miele element burnt out after only 4 years and when he took it out it was full of limescale and congealed soap – we will definitely be doing your cleaning method from now on thanks.

my washer only does cold water…. can i still wash it???

  14. Logan McRoberts on November 10, 2021 at 10:42 am

Possible stupid question: Can I use an old box of baking soda that was used to deodorize a refrigerator or should I use a fresh box?

  15. My Galaxy-365 on November 10, 2021 at 10:43 am

I’ll take my top-load back!! Hate these front loaders! Smell, mold, un-safe (need to leave door open), less water destroys cloths. The industry went backwards! It was probably regulated to use less water (environmentalist don’t care about customers health, just nature), but like everyone else says, it causes more problems. I am sure in 2030 top loaders will be the "new" thing AGAIN

Good tips but why do you have a toilet in your laundry room?🤣

  18. Faithfulness on November 10, 2021 at 10:46 am

Not related to this video. Just wanted to say that Jesus loves you all & He’s coming back to this Earth as King of kings. Every eye will see Him. He wants us to be ready. Let’s do what we can, and that can be found in Acts 2:37,38; 17:30,31. Now is the time to surrender our all to Him before our probation closes. Check out the "Nature Speaks Hope for Tomorrow" series right here on YouTube. Be encouraged. 💕

Could you use the Clean Tub feature with doing baking soda and vinegar. My machine asks to put bleach in a special compartment and push clean tub.

  20. TSC Bownaldo on November 10, 2021 at 10:48 am

Would it be worth it to also throw towels as well?

The mildew smell from towels is also removed in the same methods so it’s like two birds with a stone right?

    Thanks in advance

  21. Jo Phillips on November 10, 2021 at 10:50 am

If the detergent and bleach you put in your washing machine don’t clean your washing machine then something’s wrong.

  22. Ashley Rossi on November 10, 2021 at 10:50 am

Do I put the baking soda and white vinegar in together at the same time?

  23. Emma Deveto on November 10, 2021 at 10:51 am

    Thank u

  24. Felicia Pardo on November 10, 2021 at 10:52 am

I heard using powder soap helps to less build up than liquid soap on the rubber washer. I wash towels, sheets snd bathroom carpets with powder soap.

Bisell 3 in 1 steam mop with hand tool option or the Bisell spot steamer works great for cleaning the door seal.

My washer and/or dryer both were putting rust on clothes from me not knowing I needed to clean the gaskets! I had been leaving the washer open all the time, but now I leave the dryer open too. It collects moisture too. It is not easy to get all the rust off.. I don’t see a filter on my machine. Thank you!

You need to pour that in via the soap tray to clean the gunk mix of soap+ clothes softener that’s built up in the tube connecting to the washing tub. This can be the source of a red light alarm.

  45. Raven S on November 10, 2021 at 11:11 am

Probably a stupid question to ask but do top load washers have filters & if so, where are they located? Ty. 😊

  46. Maxime Veilleux on November 10, 2021 at 11:15 am

I’m almost certain my washing machine starts off with a short draining action. How’s that working with the vinegar?

  47. Shamair Anderson on November 10, 2021 at 11:17 am

This my first time its been a 1yr since I have my washer and dryer

The trays and the a lot the trays go into get so dirty so fast

  50. Themattinator 86 on November 10, 2021 at 11:21 am

Every time I go to check the filter water gushes out and floods my laundry room. Even if the washer hasn’t been used in 4 days. Has this happened to anyone else?
