How To Find HS Codes, Customs Tariff Numbers EASILY For Etsy Sellers And E-Commerce Other Sites

From 1st July 2021 it is compulsory to add an HS code (customs tariff number) to your label when you are shipping items to, or within, the EU.

Etsy is working on a program to generate a suggested HS code based on your selected category and description but this is still in development. At present all Etsy sellers need to identify and put an HS code on all their parcels. This of course applies to eBay and all other selling platforms. The sites recommended produce codes suitable for all selling sites and for use in all countries worldwide.

I have some important questions. How can I find tariff numbers for items made of multiple materials? For example, if I were to sell cross wall hangings made of epoxy resin, colored dye, glitter, gold stones, silver stones or wood, how do I key in these search terms in the UK and US websites that you have suggested? Some of my cross wall hangings have wood, and the rest of my cross wall hangings are without wood. Does this mean that I have to key in multiple search terms in order to generate multiple tariff numbers? I am very confused, so it will be fantastic if you can help me out. Thank you!!

This is super helpful. I’m selling bracelets from the UK and want to sell to Europe and the rest of the world does this mean that I could use the 6 digit code for selling to both?

I know you’ve answered a similar question about a product with many things put into it, but how would you go about identifying say.. a bottle of carrier oil with multiple variations of essential oil with flowers and herbs added into the bottle? I get that essential oils in something like a carrier oil would be 3301, but what about all the other things inside of the oil? Should I just not bother with that?

Lastly, what if someone orders 2 items and they’re 2 completely different things? For example, someone orders a bottle of the carrier oil with the mixture of essential oils and herbs.. AND they order say.. a glass vial containing a mixture of different herbs – how would you code a package like that?

If one item you post is made up of different items. Let’s say plastic bracket and screws. Would that need separate tariff codes ? Please if you could let me know! Thanks 🙏

This code thing is so annoying. Grandfather recently died and my father is in the hospital and I’ve been running my etsy business through all of it. Long story short all those tragedy’s made me fall behind on orders. Now I can’t even ship some of my orders because I didn’t know this whole tariff crap was coming.

I wish Etsy didn’t spam we with random garbage emails so I could have actually seen the important one about this change.

Very good video though, your saving my life haha.

Thanks for this very helpful indeed- do you need to put the tariff code in the CN22 form by royal mail click and drop form ?

Also are there any additional codes needed if you are a sole trader and only getting starting off and is not registered yet
