Great video. I like that you talked about the things that can go wrong. I hate those how to videos that go perfect when it never seems to go perfect for me.

Thanks a million but the ground wire on the strain relief was a bit confusing can you explain further? Can it go under the green screw if hardwired?

The bare copper conductor should be bonded to the frame of the appliance not bent back over the screw for the Connector. That’s why the manufacturer supplies the green screw in the splice box.

Great video, really helpful. I think I’m going to have a world of hurt because of the cork flooring installed after the dishwasher. I don’t know how I’m going to get the replacement dishwasher in 🙁 I guess I’ll keep googling for a solution.

Well this didn’t help with anything.

  22. Brian Bryant on August 12, 2021 at 10:10 pm

Always wrap electrical tape around those wire nuts. Extra bit of protection to prevent the wires from coming out as the dishwasher vibrates and things do tend to come lose.

thanks appliance assistant, it worked fine.

  27. caleb productions on August 12, 2021 at 10:20 pm

If only new dishwashers were like the old ones they actually got your dishes clean instead of just being a sterilizing tool. It’s really sad they are all made of nice shiny plastic and have no power in the motor whatsoever and take twice as long to wash dishes with very little water and run twice as long where is the green in that? The government regulations are killing appliances there is no water shortage there is no power shortage wake up people

Thank you very much for this video. My waterline cracked or dislodged during our recent polar vortex cold snap and I’m in the process of removing the dishwasher to do any repairs and your video has filled the gaps in my ignorance towards the subject!

Good tip on just turning off the main water line to avoid messing with the sink shutoff especially on a older house.

GREAT explanation! Got most everything I needed to know. But, would like to see a bit more about connecting the hose adapter between drain & dishwasher.  Have an old one that developed a pinhole leak so my handyman replaced it with a 1” to ⅝” adapter.  When connected, it still leaked a bit at the small (dishwasher) side hose clamp connection.  Are dishwasher hose adapters an industry “1-size-fits-all” standard or to they come in different sizes like a 1” to ½” adapter?

Aren’t you supposed to use ground wire to run to the green bolt and white to white and black to black ?

  40. RGF RGF on August 12, 2021 at 10:39 pm

Ok so what happens to the water line now and the drain hole to the side of your garbage disposal? Will water leak if I turn it back on? More info please

  41. Rana Gainer on August 12, 2021 at 10:39 pm

Which water line do you connect the dishwasher to? Hot or cold? You didn’t specify.

Several very helpful tips that no one else mention on Dishwasher replacement. The dry napkin test, square cutting the copper pipe, and loosing the feet ahead of time were very helpful. Thanks!

I bought a dishwasher second-hand and unlike the old one there was no apparent ground wire to connect to the electical supply ground wire… should i screw it into the box with a screw?
