Bought their “JVC Kaboom” clone. Disappointed with the sound. Gave it away.

  2. DvdXploitr on June 17, 2022 at 10:46 pm

That POS should have never left the factory. It’s looks so cheap. Defective tape deck out of the box and that tuning is so sensitive, it changed stations just by moving it.

  3. seand67 on June 17, 2022 at 10:50 pm

Looks so cheap…..Something to place in a child’s room

  4. Chris Blackburn on June 17, 2022 at 10:50 pm

Great show. Always enjoy watching. Happy Father’s Day to you and all the Dad’s watching. 😎👍

Reminds me of a Sony unit I had in mid 90s with detachable speakers.

  6. matroncia on June 17, 2022 at 10:51 pm

hi i just bought portable record player in a suitcase but when i turn it of and try to play a vinyl record it doesnt spin, some guy said to take of the plate/platter, but i don’t know how to do it on the portable ones can you help me with it please?

  7. AbsintheDream on June 17, 2022 at 10:52 pm

I’d be thrifting for an all in one it’s cheaper, the build quality/components on name brands in the 90’s & early 2000’s is much better than this sort of junk plus it’s easy enough & cheap to add bluetooth to anything with an AUX channel.

  8. Steve's Stuff on June 17, 2022 at 10:54 pm

That was a pretty decent looking boombox until you got to the tape deck; though seeing the printed specs for it, it wouldn’t have sounded too good anyway…!! 😉
A shame though, as it was nice to see the cassette deck as part of the boombox…

  9. Rover Steve on June 17, 2022 at 10:55 pm

It’s a shame , when you first turned it on had Awesome sound pity the tape deck let the unit down 😢.

  10. raloria9173 on June 17, 2022 at 10:56 pm

That’s a shame about the tape deck. I’m from the 80s & 90s (as I believe you are) and we always bought Sony products and they worked perfectly every single time out of the box.

    HAPPY FATHERS DAY BROTHER

  12. Tech_Memes on June 17, 2022 at 10:59 pm

Looks like my durabrand boombox kinda.

  13. Jeffrey Hickman on June 17, 2022 at 11:01 pm

Got one of those in 2012, from Fry’s Electronics. Shut the CD 💿 player once, or twice. Voila!! It busted. Think it was only $39.99, or whatever. Yours is A LOT fancier than mine. Your friend, Jeff.

  14. TorontoJon on June 17, 2022 at 11:02 pm

LIKE 97. Boy, was I late to the party. Thanks for your noble sacrifice, Recordology. It’s always a bummer when a tech company fails us or their products are not up to scratch or one aspect of their product is not working properly. Dang it!

  15. plan7a on June 17, 2022 at 11:05 pm

It’s got to be a belt issue, as surely it would have been tested before it was dispatched? I hope the company sees the video and arranges a collection for it and sends a replacement unit with extras! I’d like to hope it is a mistake otherwise they’ll end up losing a lot of custom, I’d think! (Sadly, it seems like you’ll end up with a Frankenstein device at this rate. Bits from here and from there to make a monster of a unit… Just saying!).

  16. Viperfet on June 17, 2022 at 11:07 pm

Can’t manage Tuner or volume on the control, has a cassette player??? 80’s tech on a 2020 device. My mom bought this, but after install I was so disappointed.

  17. Chris's Channel Of Technology on June 17, 2022 at 11:09 pm

    Return it

  18. Retro Andy 1977 on June 17, 2022 at 11:10 pm

And something not working when new is unacceptable in my book
    Return it mr recordology !

  19. Odessia 2021 on June 17, 2022 at 11:11 pm

How much you paid for this

  20. New Groove Magazine on June 17, 2022 at 11:11 pm

The box screams I am plastic junk.
    Great vid.

  21. Flat Goods on June 17, 2022 at 11:11 pm

Funny how you don’t recommend this unit due to the poor tape mechanism when it’s the *exact same* mechanism used in all those awful Victrola & Crosley all-in-ones you rave about.

  22. Saint Michael on June 17, 2022 at 11:12 pm

Bummer. I bought from Amazon, about two years ago, a set of headphones. It was a company called OneOdio. Made in China. Fifty bucks. I looked at the positive reviews, and they were good, (but I now think they a lot of them were fake, especially the one that said he was a front man for various rock groups). They were crap. Now I go to the negative reviews first when I am buying gear. I didn’t want to send them back because it was a hassle, so I gave them to my brother who is not an audio buff. I’ll keep my Philips HP which I bought in the ’90s. Now I buy only buy things from reputable companies. Audio Technica, Sony, TEAC. (I can’t afford Technics!) Anyways, I hope your Father’s Day was good.

  23. Retro Andy 1977 on June 17, 2022 at 11:13 pm

Happy Father’s Day for yesterday mr R
I’m blessed with a daughter who I love with all my heart and means the world to me and always will .good show

  24. Larry Larry on June 17, 2022 at 11:14 pm

Bummer. Return it and try another? Or move on? It does have the 1980s 1990s vibe. Great video!

  25. Chris'tronics & Derek Eats on June 17, 2022 at 11:15 pm

I wonder if it being out in the heat made the belts real soft and flimsy and now there’s not enough torque. Cause I think I heard you say that it was still a bit warm when testing it.

  26. Mac Rodríguez on June 17, 2022 at 11:15 pm

This NAXA brand is well known to be very crappy.

  27. Jason J on June 17, 2022 at 11:15 pm

A couple of years ago I acquired a pallet of similar stereo systems, boom boxes etc, all customer returns from a large electronics chain in the UK.

The number that had failed due to stupid, fundamental problems in the factory (screws driven through cables, internal plugs hanging half-out with the glue still intact, components not fully soldered to boards etc) was staggering. I even had one where the solder blob protecting the CD laser had not been removed – this item clearly had not been tested before being thrown out the door.

The quality control in some of these Chinese factories is pathetic – you expect such errors when buying eBay specials but not when they’re being made for large corporations.

  28. Qorax on June 17, 2022 at 11:17 pm

Looks like you need to turn it in for a replacement, see if it was just bad luck?

  29. CoyoteMontana on June 17, 2022 at 11:20 pm

I have a question. Do this and other CD Cassette players and other CD player without Cassette can be plunged in without batteries?

  30. Bob Riemersma on June 17, 2022 at 11:23 pm

Lots and lots of plastic, same guts as a cheap pocket radio/player.

  31. андефайнед андефайнедофф on June 17, 2022 at 11:23 pm

    смешно, в стране с типичной зарплатой в 5000 долл обзирать "аппаратуру" за 50 долл…..

  32. Nick Bitten on June 17, 2022 at 11:23 pm

You don’t seem to have much luck with these " all in one" systems at present. Your wife is spot on comment-wise. At least you have a good excuse now to buy some separates again. Oh well, keep smiling and best wishes.

  33. Qorax on June 17, 2022 at 11:24 pm

    Nice cowboy music!
    Yee haw!

  34. TEAC Fan on June 17, 2022 at 11:24 pm

I remember back at Christmas 1998, my uncle bought his wife an RCA boombox, cassette/radio/CD player. Put a CD in it, but the CD lid wouldn’t stay down, it was suppose to click shut. It would play if you held the lid down and the sound was fantastic. My uncle was a bit upset it had a defect out of the box. The cheapness had already started.

  35. tim faracy on June 17, 2022 at 11:24 pm

You felt foggy-headed due to your shot? You sound normal , return the appliance as soon as you can.

  36. R66F on June 17, 2022 at 11:27 pm

I would replace the drive belts in it.

  37. Theresa Coxfield on June 17, 2022 at 11:27 pm

Great video as always!!! Sorry you got a dud. I have an older model of the Naxa unit same design and functionality that I purchased from Amazon in 2014 and it performs well to this day. The tape player works extremely well no tape hiss. CD player and radio both clear. Volume settings and remote work well. Overall I am pleased with my purchase. Maybe it’s an issue with newer models?

  38. Danny’s Vinyl Rainbow on June 17, 2022 at 11:28 pm

Happy Papas day to you and all dad viewers! Ive always had low volume issues with this brand boomboxes. Tried 3 times

  39. Al Mueller on June 17, 2022 at 11:29 pm

I bought a portable CD player with Bluetooth and had everything I was looking for so I can connect to my speakers and I bought it from Walmart and got it in the mail and it didn’t work it was a total disaster so it just sits in my drawer sometimes you just get stuff that doesn’t work Happy Father’s Day by the way take care

  40. TorontoJon on June 17, 2022 at 11:31 pm

Happy belated Father’s Day, Recordology. All the best, of course. 🙂

  41. glitchmaker on June 17, 2022 at 11:32 pm

Thanks for taking one for the team. Just to satisfy some curiosity… do you think the sepeaker’s tweeters are real or justo for show? Greetings from Portugal!

  42. Xmc X on June 17, 2022 at 11:33 pm

I’ll stick with my old JVC. Dual tape decks, digital tuner, CD and auxiliary inputs.

  43. Maximilian Fischer on June 17, 2022 at 11:34 pm

The belts of the tape player could be shot, because you left it in the heat for too long, because you said it was very hot

  44. ADRIAN and KATRINA Dove on June 17, 2022 at 11:36 pm

This unit will be brilliant for someone who is looking to not play their tapes…ideally someone with a large E J collection,on tape. The issue with the speakers not being attached, can easily be resolved by either not attaching them,or if you want them attached, just attach them….(May be glue?)…Hope this helps ?

  45. jackelofnar on June 17, 2022 at 11:36 pm

I don’t understand why would would not just get a used Mini systems from the 2000s over crappy plastic systems like this.

  46. Badescu Andi on June 17, 2022 at 11:36 pm
