Michael Moore Presents: Planet of the Humans | Full Documentary | Directed by Jeff Gibbs

Michael Moore presents Planet of the Humans, a documentary that dares to say what no one else will — that we are losing the battle to stop climate change on planet earth because we are following leaders who have taken us down the wrong road — selling out the green movement to wealthy interests and corporate America. This film is the wake-up call to the reality we are afraid to face: that in the midst of a human-caused extinction event, the environmental movement’s answer is to push for techno-fixes and band-aids. It’s too little, too late.

Removed from the debate is the only thing that MIGHT save us: getting a grip on our out-of-control human presence and consumption. Why is this not THE issue? Because that would be bad for profits, bad for business. Have we environmentalists fallen for illusions, “green” illusions, that are anything but green, because we’re scared that this is the end—and we’ve pinned all our hopes on biomass, wind turbines, and electric cars?

No amount of batteries are going to save us, warns director Jeff Gibbs (lifelong environmentalist and co-producer of “Fahrenheit 9/11” and “Bowling for Columbine”). This urgent, must-see movie, a full-frontal assault on our sacred cows, is guaranteed to generate anger, debate, and, hopefully, a willingness to see our survival in a new way—before it’s too late.

We are sitting on a big ball of energy. The earth’s core with hot springs and volcanoes enough energy to run the earth. It’s thermal. And the seas tides and waves are continuous energy powered by the moons gravity pull on the earth. Earth is our answer to energy.

Why can’t plastic packets be made out of cellulose the sticky stuff that glues plant cells together the same thing that’s used to make medication capsules. That could be a renewable crop for farmers and why isn’t paper and cardboard made from Pandanous the same way the Egyptians did or made from rice or Hemp or Flax which can be grown as crops in existing farm land. And make trees and forests more valuable than cleared land. Educate Farmers that trees give rain to the atmosphere and cool the land from heat and hold our precious soils. Sugar Cane has many uses and straw can and is now used to make pressed composite building boards for housing this will save virgin forests. Also why isn’t insects and larvae farmed to feed fish farms instead of feeding farmed fish with pellets made from stuff that pollutes the ocean. Insect farming could then be an industry of employment and wouldn’t take up a lot of space. Also in Switzerland they use filters in their Wood fired chimneys to filter carbon, why can’t these be made from cellulose and used all over the World to incinerate our rubbish and filter the smoke. The ashes can then be used in people’s gardens and the only thing going to recycle would be cans. And why not use glass bottles again that can be sterilised and reused by the company’s. New suburbs now have underground power cables why aren’t big canopy street trees planted to cool cities from radiant heat. Those chimney stack filters are biodegradable. And imagine the mulch people would have for their gardens with large trees and ash and charcoal for chickens and gardens. Back to some sort of self sufficiency, that leads to neighbourhoods trading and bartering eggs, fruits and vegetables. Why isn’t this happening.

We have Super volcanoes which are building up enormous energy that could explode and end destroy us. Why can’t scientists work out a way to siphon that energy like a valve release to ease the Volcanoes energy and use the energy in our power grids.

Thank you for exposing the lier’s & lies.

It’s sad that greed is the major factor for the earths destruction.
Green energy is energy that uses more fossil fuels to produce the green energy it self, than the green energy itself can ever produce so it’s true that these billionaire companies are playing pretend purely & simply do it for the greed of making more money while fooling people.

Basically if you cut down one tree you should plant 100 to make burning wood renewable.
Clear cutting thousands of acres of forest is unsustainable.
But selective tree cutting & replanting leaving trees coverage for protection of the replanted trees may be sustainable .

We as humans need to learn how to use less & produce more carbon catching & conversion technologies like cleaner burning coal, cleaner burning natural gas , clean burning methane gas, clean burning biofuels made from used plant oils & all other reusable materials etcetera developed the technologies for it.
    Carbon reducing technology.
Every thing can be recycled & reused.

Why aren’t we making fuel from single use plastics there are billions of tons of it in landfills & in the oceans.

I guess we’ve got to leave it to the experts now or eventually our species will vanish along with the rest of the earths creatures.

Population growth is a farce! Majority of western countries have negative growth – peak human is about 11B and then it declines with Africa being the last continent to have positive population growth mostly due to child mortality rates, as soon as they get beyond that and more westernized then it too will drop drastically. There is more adult diapers produced these days then infants within ~25yrs the baby-boomers will be gone and thus a larger percentage of consumers overall.

  34. Sharath Bhaskar on November 26, 2021 at 12:25 pm

So basically biomass energy is us Easter Islanding ourselves?

  35. Tupan666 on November 26, 2021 at 12:26 pm

Very enlightening documentary. However, it has the traditional “first world” fallacy of overpopulation being the cause of all the problems. For a start, overconsumption is highly biased towards “developed” countries, which are in fact governed by the same corporations pointed out here, and not by representatives of the people. These corporations are, in their majority, headed by baby boomers who know of their own mortality and want to hoard as many financial as possible before their passing. A small group of perhaps 1000 old gentlemen possess over 50% of real assets of the planet. These same gentlemen produce materials (being them cars, solar mirrors, clothes or appliances) using the immoral ideology of planned obsolescence. These topics are not approached in this documentary, which is a terrible flaw.

Regarding “overpopulation”, there is a general trend of under-replacing the population already, especially among millennials and zoomers, because they cannot afford housing or a family. There are anti-natalists movements, childless guilds, and population reduction in many areas, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to this, it’s been known for decades that the best way to avoid excessive breeding in humans is to provide education for women, and sexual education for children. To push the idea that “breeding workers” are the source of all these problems while ignoring planned obsolescence and the obscene hoarding of wealth by a minuscule portion of old white “first-world” top hats verges on hypocrisy.

Meanwhile, politicians paid for by corporations will hinder ANY efforts to change food production from the disgraceful “industrial monocultures” used today to family agriculture, which provide food variety and soil health, or to stop the criminal practices of creating disposable gadgets, clothes and equipments so they will have better sales in the next quarter.

One middle-class American individual, with their air-conditioned big house and their three gas-guzzlers, who replaces their mobile phone every year and flies everywhere, has a larger “carbon footprint” then 20 families from rural Africa or South America. The families, however, provide food security for their villages as long as Monsanto or any mining company doesn’t go there to “secure better return for our stockholders”.

So we’re still being fed up a lie, as long as the top ones continue there. Live simpler lives.

from UK: the biggest problem we face apart from population is greed. The vast projects to produce energy is destroying us on a mammoth scale driven by technology which in its turn is driven by profit for the giant corporations. A return to the land to restore it requires education and a humility in the face of what we face! only the mobilisation of the people to engage in that restoration without chemicals and advanced technology can possibly mitigate the climate disaster. Half the land of the planet is now carbon emitters instead of carbon absorption. It all needs to be restored with restorative farming that has developed in recent years and with recent discoveries can turn desert into viable healthy soil in only a few years and leaves communities viable producing food in a sustainable long term way….

We may initially have to use the current energy source to make large enough bore drills to harvest thermal energy. But once 1/10 of the infrastructure is up a running that thermal energy can be used to make the remainder and then its all self supported energy.

  43. Michael Lee on November 26, 2021 at 12:39 pm

Not only would you have to build a solar array that consisted of 3×5 miles of solar panels to support Lansing. But also the array would have to be completely unmounted and new panels would have to be bought and reinstalled app. every10 years and thats if indeed those were the more high quality ones. Take it from an industrial electrician whose has build two very large solar arrays in south Georgia. These solar arrays that I built were the size of 20 or so football fields and after completion hired app a handful of people to operate it. So not only is it unsustainable as far as power supply but the amount of jobs that these places steal in a local community are catastrophic when considering say the amount of people that run a coal plant. The Megawatts produced by these farms are not only unsustainable because of cloudy skies, debris suck as bird poop, dust, tornadoes, hurricanes, lightning, nighttime ect. They are very expensive to maintain and as well as wind turbine farms A laughable replacement for coal, hydro and nuclear power generators on levels that most have no idea. If we replaced our current energy providers with these new green replacements your future would consist of extremely high power bills and many instances of grid downtime that is unpredictable and unreliable at best! The demand for power is A constant need that can not be meet by using non constant unreliable means. Such as wind or solar arrays on A consistent basis and anyone with A basic understanding of power consumption should understand that. Believe me I want nothing more than to clean up the environment and for us to lives that we can insure for future generations. Although this new green garbage is A disaster waiting to happen. Global warming is their chief lie which is just that and many scientists have disproven it to many degrees. I consider myself A relatively intelligent person whom found out the global warming push doesn’t hold water and their impulsive replacements for our energy needs are unsustainable that will drive energy through the roof as well as fuel prices and car prices. Batteries which are highly implemented in these new green energy expansions are far from being viable alternative for A cleaner environment as well and the wheel of lies these green initiatives and global warming nazis continues to spin.

IS MICHAEL MOORE PAID BY OIL INDUSTRY? They had numerous studies about LIFECYCLE CO2 EMISSION. Solar takes up only about 15% of COAL

  45. Laurie Anderson on November 26, 2021 at 12:44 pm

It’s ironic, that the oil we use is made out of dead dinasours & dead plant matter that is millions of years old & long extinct. How crazy to to think that their remains we use to fuel our planet may cause our own extinction. It’s scary, yet humbling. Asteroids destroyed most of the life way back then, except for alligators, Crocodiles, some Sharks, Turtles, deep depth marine life & yes, cockroaches. We have asteroids flying around Earth all the time, & eventually, we WILL BE HIT AGAIN. It would exterminate most of humanity, & the Earth would eventually recover quite quickly & happily without us.

Nothing lasts forever you would think.
To truly escape death you must first become biologically immortal.
Then leave this planet when its time has come and the oceans have evaporated.
Now you will need to find a new planet around a new star.
Repeat this process for a long time until every star has burned out.
At this point you really need to find a new Universe.
And you must do all this without getting killed.
    Good luck on your journey.
