#MonsterParty Monster Party NES – ULTIMATE GUIDE – ALL Rounds, ALL Bosses, 100%

Monster Party is one of the weirdest games for the NES! This game probably has the most unique bosses on the system – in total, you’ll battle 21 of them! Most of them are spooky characters from the worlds of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy…. but some of them are weird things like a tempura appetizer platter, a cat in a box, and a wishing well that throws coins back at you!

It was published by Bandai, a Japanese toy company that owned licenses for properties like Dragonball, but they actually published a lot of great NES games. Without Bandai, we may have never gotten home ports of awesome arcade games like Galaga!

So how did this game get made, and maybe more interestingly – what had to be cut from the final version? In this week’s episode we’ll find out, then we’ll dive deep into the gameplay where we’ll learn:

* The BEST places to find Health and Pill power ups! After watching this, you’ll always know where to look!

* Which DOORS to enter, and which to AVOID!

* The east way through the complex HAUNTED HOUSE MAZE in Round Six!

* How to ensure you don’t LOSE YOUR KEY in Round 7!

* The best strategies for defeating ALL 21 BOSSES… even THE DARK WORLD MASTER himself!

Thanks for watching!

I realize it’s too late in the month now for Halloween, but I’d love to see a video to help me beat Famicom’s Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti.

IGN does’ nt know anything about great games.

  4. Rem Lezar on October 23, 2021 at 9:06 am

Another weird one you could look at is Dr. Chaos which was the NES’ attempt at a Lovecraftian vibe. Tough as nails, not very intuitive and some some really weird nonsense in that game. I eventually beat it as a kid but man, it took me ages.
Edit: The weird umbrella monsters are a Japanese trope as well. They are called "Kasa-obake" and are featured in a bunch of games but most prominently in Nioh.
Double Edit: The "Giant Cat" boss was initially a Mogwai that turned into a Gremlin (removed for copyright issues)

  13. Juan Garcia on October 23, 2021 at 9:15 am

Although it’s a short game think you can do a video for Splatter house for Turbo graphics? It does match the spooky themed

That dead boss in level one that the manual calls a "Giant Spider" is actually based on a weird Japanese model kit called a Torigaran. It’s supposed to be some kind of chicken creature cradling a painfully bloated stomach.

I learned this from watching UnPlayedAThing do a full playthrough of the final release of Monster Party, followed by a trip through the prototype cartridge while pausing to explain where most of the different enemies, bosses, and level ideas came from.

Had this game, beat it. Was not easy but fun. And you missed a Bandai game for teh NES – Dynowarz. Had that, too, and beat it.

Do you always talk that slow and well punctuated or do you only do this when reading a script for a video?
I rarely get to hear such a clear sounding speech manner.

As we are in October, how about doing the Addams Family NES game from Ocean?

  22. Rob_The_BroBot on October 23, 2021 at 9:31 am

You may seriously be Bob Ross resurrected as a gamer. Your voice is so goddamn soothing and you describe beating a game like you’re painting a picture. I’m glad I stumbled on your channel and subscribed!

Nostalgia City with this one. I absolutely loved this game as a young lad back in the day. It was (and still is) so strange, but it’s oddly satisfying and a blast to play 👍

  24. Dj E.DGain on October 23, 2021 at 9:37 am

I love this game… so unique and cool

  25. Rob Bert on October 23, 2021 at 9:37 am

Traded TMNT for this game as a kid. Never traded back. Never beat it either… still has the kids name on it.

  26. sonicteam2k1 on October 23, 2021 at 9:37 am

You don’t know what this video means to me. Me and my brother used to play this all the time, he took his own life last year. I miss him so much. Thank you for this video. It’s a good memory of him.

A+ for that Ancient Aliens reference. LOL

  28. Firecrest on October 23, 2021 at 9:39 am

My whole life playing NES games and the solution seems to be rapid attack at full life to kill boss. It was your fear of death more then actually dying from damage.

  29. MOTA on October 23, 2021 at 9:40 am

Great show . Can you do an episode with alien soldier?

  30. Kevin O'Brien on October 23, 2021 at 9:41 am

First saw this game at a birthday party when I was a little kid. I remember thinking it was really weird when the game world turned half way through the first level. I also distinctly recall eating way too much birthday cake, and ralphing four times while desperately running for the bathroom. I was good and empty before I got there. Oops.

  31. Brandon Savitski on October 23, 2021 at 9:41 am

Play and beat "Infiltrator" on NES. I have never seen that game beaten and I probably never will. You are my last hope You Can Beat Video Games. There are no videos on YouTube of anyone beating that game.

  32. Sonic the Hedgehog on October 23, 2021 at 9:41 am

if memory serves, the key in round 7 disappears because the original japanese version had two bosses, but the english version has three. the coding was never updated to reflect this, so the game is only looking for if you’ve beaten two bosses. once you beat three, the game sees you haven’t beaten two, and thus must not have cleared round, and removes the key

  33. Brock Hard on October 23, 2021 at 9:42 am

The game is easier than I once thought. Once you get past the first level, it’s not that bad but man, if you screw up on the rotation on the last boss or loose Burt power….your screwed.

  34. Kouhei Coppola on October 23, 2021 at 9:43 am

I absolutely loved this game growing up and it still stands as a very competent platformer/puzzle game (with the rooms in the one area being the puzzle). I often wonder why this game was so underrated.

  35. GlassVial on October 23, 2021 at 9:43 am

Never heard of this game, but if it dropped at the same time as TMNT, it’s no surprise.

  36. Ken Ess on October 23, 2021 at 9:45 am

You went full Burt…. Never go full Burt.

  37. pointedspider on October 23, 2021 at 9:46 am

  40. A putrid pile of b-movies on October 23, 2021 at 9:48 am

One of the best least known kooky offbeat NES games ever, and one of the ones most in need of a skillful faithful remake. The main really disheartening flaw in this game is that in the going-upwards "tower" level, if you accidentally fight a specific boss, you LOSE the key. The other disheartening flaw is the choice to only put 1 boss in the doors-maze level.

  41. Matthew Rusche on October 23, 2021 at 9:48 am

Monster Party has always been my favorite Nes game. I loved watching this. Obviously I knew everything already, and you mentioned every detail. Your videos are incredibly entertaining, and I appreciate each one.

  44. NES ADDICT on October 23, 2021 at 9:51 am

I beat this game a few years back. I’m happy to say I figured out the maze level with out help. I was getting close to busting out a YouTube video though!

  45. LEXICON DEVIL on October 23, 2021 at 9:52 am

Please do Krusty’s Fun House for Sega it’s so difficult for a puzzle platform game. I’ve always wanted to see the impossible as the puzzles get really hard.

  46. CJ on October 23, 2021 at 9:52 am

Can you please do Ghostbusters for NES??? That game seems unbeatable

I remember renting this when I was a kid, but I never beat round 7. Now I know why, the game cheated! Excellent video as always.

I would love to see a video about Dr. Chaos, another game that always evaded my attempts to beat it.
