Oppo Find N2 Flip (Global) Review: Samsung's Monopoly on Foldables Ends!

Oppo Find N2 Flip (Global) Review: Samsung's Monopoly on Foldables Ends!

Oppo’s Find N2 Flip has launched “internationally” (meaning outside China). In the UK where it will first on sale, the phone can be had for £849, which is a bit over US$1,000. This price is competitive with what the Galaxy Z Flip 4 costs. And Oppo’s clamshell foldable does a few things better (but a few things worse, too).

Great video! The outer screen is such a great design improvement on the Z flip 4; love Oppo’s implementation of foldable phones, they seem to really consider the convenience of use aspect more than the other brands.

I still think the Huawei flip was the best looking one to launch over the last year. In terms of actual usability though I think this large cover screen is probably the best. Though it looks like in this iteration they didn’t give much access to actually using the front display.

Ben Meizu 20 will be releasing next month. It is their 20th anniversary. Would love to see a review on it. Apparently a folding phone also. Loved your coverage of Meizu over the years. Would be great if you can cover it 🙏🙏💯💯

the big screen in the back is genius, wish Apple implement this feature, they have such good cameras in the back already

Does the software take advantage of the folding capabilities like in the ZFlip?

  10. Undomesticated on February 19, 2023 at 5:09 am

Kinda funny how all these companies just ride the bandwagon of Samsung. Kinda hoping they start becoming "innovative"

Good to see Oppo doing a better job. If Oppo can release a lite version, for cheaper. You know not many of us can afford the original version. Might as well give us a budget friendly options.

  12. a9udn9u on February 19, 2023 at 5:13 am

The crease on the z flip is outrageous. The moment I saw it at bestbuy I know I’ll never want to own one

  13. Duy Bách Vũ on February 19, 2023 at 5:14 am

just a theory, but perhaps book-style foldables require more optimization from the developers, the os maker (Google) and the OEMs themselves; so a clamshell foldable is way less risky for chinese brands to launch internationally.

Your reviews are very good. While you are presenting, can you write the phone’s features on a corner of the screen? 🙂 Thanks..

  15. Mustafa Hameed on February 19, 2023 at 5:18 am

I think the idea of having a sample screen is not to fall in the trap of using your phone, that’s why it’s limited to a certain things

  16. Ma Es on February 19, 2023 at 5:19 am

Hi ben i think zflip5 with optimazed software will win again i dont understand why outside screen in inusable with any social applicarions

Hi Ben, I hope you will make a video on the Huawei Mate x3 when it comes out. I am thinking of buying it, but I would like to see your opinion on it, as well, as what you generally think about Huawei Fold quality. That’s the most important part for me, as I don’t want to have to bring it in for repairs, even if they are cheap or good. I just want it to work. If you think, that’s impossible, I will go for a small tablet.

I hate monopoly so much. It is good to have options. Samsung may want to bribe the the US to ban oppo.

    Good Job !

  32. Mohammad Zein on February 19, 2023 at 5:33 am

The Find N2 folds flat and has a barely noticeable crease. Also you get a bigger battery capicity in a similar form factor to the Z flip 4. The outside screen alone, completely won me over! You can’t help but wonder why Samsung is trailing in terms of hardware on their 4th iteration with the Z flip 4.
Thank you for the review Sir Ben of this great device !✌✌And I agree we need more foldables! 👌

  33. romidontplaythat! on February 19, 2023 at 5:33 am

Damn. Not only is that outer display large, it’s also in the proper orientation. One of my biggest gripes with my Flip2/Flip3 was how annoying the orientation was for the outer display and how it should follow the orientation of the inner display.

  34. Peizxcv on February 19, 2023 at 5:34 am

    Is that Frankie?

  35. Rolins on February 19, 2023 at 5:34 am

Currently, the Flip 4 can be found everywhere around $700, and everyone knows the advantages of the Flip 4 over this Oppo Find N2 Flip.

The only real advantages of the Oppo are supposed to be the fact that there is no visible crease (which is not true) and its much larger outer screen, but which in the end is not really very functional and loses a lot of its interest when you realize that interactions with applications are very limited and that you cannot respond to your notifications directly from the external screen, WHY?!!!

This external screen is 2 – 3 times larger than that of 99% of smartwatches, which nevertheless offer the possibility of responding to notifications with a keyboard.

    Frankly Oppo WHY ?!

Ps: it’s true that at the software level it’s not great, but on the other hand it’s clearly the best hardware integration for an external Flip screen, and I think that even the Folds should have this kind of screen on the back for better selfies, but especially for vloggers.

Z flip 4 is now only $679 in my country

  39. CactuarKnight on February 19, 2023 at 5:37 am

Like, I Respect your views and recommendations Ben, but there’s no way this device will come anywhere near Samsung’s foldable sales. No software updates, no IP rating, no special offers for screen repair… Yeah Oppo has a great device here, but 99% of the people will never touch Oppo with a 10 inch pole outside of China

  40. Javier Hidalgo on February 19, 2023 at 5:39 am

This looks like a solid phone but I don’t get why the N2 isn’t coming Global. I feel like it would sell

  41. Joel O on February 19, 2023 at 5:40 am

Good implementation of the form factor and crease, good to have a competition it will drive Samsung to work on their flips folds better
