Playing NES Games Online With The Nintendo Switch

Playing NES Games Online With The Nintendo Switch

The paid online service is now out and part of the service includes access to a bunch of NES games that can also be played online. Today myself and Dreamcastguy will try out the different games and features that include network play across the different 8 bit games.

They need to allow you to change the controls so Y=B and B=A like on the SNES. Nintendo have known this since at least 1993 when Super Mario All-Stars was released; I don’t know why they keep forgetting this.

I’m loving it. I’ve beaten two games already and am playing the hell out of Gradius. I never realized how the weapon system worked. Been playing two player local two. Haven’t tried online yet, but what I’m seeing from you guys looks awesome! I’m going to grab a friend and play some online.

  5. Ronnie Ruiz on August 6, 2021 at 9:40 pm

I noticed a little lag but overall had fun the couple times I played the NES games online.

  8. Grant Loxley on August 6, 2021 at 9:43 pm

I am pretty sure that Double Dragons was a one player game. Double Dragons 2 was when nintendo brought co-op to double dragons.

  9. CALLAHAN WELSH on August 6, 2021 at 9:43 pm

  11. Daniel Arce on August 6, 2021 at 9:45 pm

    Do you need nintendo online

  12. XTRAordinaryZG on August 6, 2021 at 9:48 pm

I got a better idea. How about if you buy one month. You get access to only NES Titles. If you buy 3 months. You get Access to NES & N64 Titles. If you buy an entire year. You get access to NES, N64, AND GAAAMECUUUUUBE!!! (Didn’t add SNES because I wanted to see Gamecube more. But I mean if you buy 3 Months then you should get NES, SNES, And N64.) Isn’t this a better system? Because you’d be paying for more games technically insted of only playing online and playing NES games.

  17. Sir Winston on August 6, 2021 at 9:51 pm

The addition of more classic solid titles is literally all its going to take for me to buy the switch. I could care less about newer games

  18. AlwaysLearning60 on August 6, 2021 at 9:51 pm

I’m really confused. I am under the impression that you can play nes classic games while offline as long as you connect every 7 days. I played on Sunday, but on Tuesday I can’t open the Nintendo online app at all without an Internet connection. Please help!

NESFLIX-coined and added to the zeitgeist. I will be using that from this day foward. I thought you Dreamcast Guy grew up playing games. How did you not know the Nes version of Double Dragon was incapable of having two players at once. The Sega Master System at the time was the only machine capable of displaying 2 simultaneous players in Double Dragon…with tons of flicker.

I cannot believe you Dreamcast Guy and other…guy, not remembering everything about a game that is clearly over 30 years old, for shame…;)

I am not actually serious at all, it is a freaking miracle that I remembered it.
