I have the same yale lock. I found it to be unreliable when reporting it’s state. Several times I will walk by and see it is unlocked while the app says it is locked…
The nest app was amazing? Bruh, not sure how much you use this app but I have been living with it for 4 years and it’s a terrible app! As far as easy use of a thermostat, it does NOT keep accurate temperature.
Bro this and a Tesla and I’m set for life
Can’t wait for uber air next year and flying cars are on the market now 😀what a crazy time to be alive
This is my motivation to buy a whole smart home
Thanks for this!
I just upgraded to the eero WiFi 6E Pro and I’m pulling 900Mbps as well, iPhone and iPad. Changes the home game, no buffers anywhere 🙂
Make a video about which platform is the best. Apple, Google, or Amazon? These seem fine to me, but I’m using Apple stuff…
Why the fuq did I think a doorbell would increase bandwidth 😂
No Japanese bath techs, Sadge
You mentioned the main systems to setup a smart home with (Google, Apple, Alexa). Isn’t Samsung SmartThings a equivalent option?
There’s so little smart gadgets really worth having. So far it’s mostly just something to brag about to friends, nothing really useful. I hope that will change.
Smart home tech will take off when smart home tech companies start selling tech we want and not the proprietary trojan horses they want.
I mean, people have shown that they _are_ willing to endure obscene levels of privacy invasion and vendor lock-in, but not when that means the products are rendered dysfunctional and unreliable by design, just to leave us having to either liter our spaces with ugly e-waste or practically remodel our homes to replace dead tech every two years. Also, physical home spaces are the last bastion for expectation of privacy. Even the privacy-ignorant are going to start balking at that point.
The cellphone industry’s rapid cycle of short-lived overpriced e-waste is thankfully a one-hit wonder, and we need to extinguish that dumpster fire, not start more of them.
I work in home automation and control4 and savant are pretty neat systems. You need some pieces of hardware but I feel as though home automation is all about how convenient you want things and what you want simplified
How do you know you turnded off the oven if you don’t have a smart oven?
Simple, proper and pain-free smart home setup, unlike Linus’s 🤣
I’m surprised by how simple your door lock was.
I mean, there are plenty of models in the market with many authentications, like tags, fingerprint, bluetooth, proximity, voice, face recognition. And yours only use… code number.
Is there a reason to choose this one?
I’m trying to understand why this guy doesn’t live in a mega mansion? There’s no way this is his main house
Why is the exercise bike blurred out?
Anyone who doesn’t have a hardwired camera is just special.
Can’t wait till you get Home Assistant installed.
One word: raspberry pie
That Stealth in the background is pretty high tech.
The orbits is great. I tried switching to nest Wi-Fi pro and one of my points would not connect where I get 300 mb at the location with orbi
@mkbhd what’s the tech you use for smart shades?
Separate video on your solar set up please. Doing my part to like and comment.
Those weren’t the 3 options, unless you don’t actually understand tech. Because those are the options for people who "don’t want to figure it out" you forget there are a ton of DIY options
Something that you could try is the Google nest minis they are great
I am in the process of building a new house. I want to eventually add a bunch of smart stuff to it. I just have no idea where to start. I would also prefer someone to do it so that I can call someone if there are issues.
I have switched all my core over to HomeKit. What’s your stance on privacy with Google?
Smart shade recommendations?
Smart room.
No Samsung SmartThings? It’s definitely not amazing and gets no attention. I have all my lights switches in the house as smart Zwave ones. The most practical ones are for the exterior lights. I have them on a routine, they turn on 30 mins before sunset and off at 11pm. Also all smart door locks so at 11pm all doors lock too, which is great if we forgot to manually lock them.
This was kind of underwhelming to watch.
Google home is great and awful, it constantly has issues on android. I’m not sure if they’ll ever make it great. Since i develop stuff, it sickens me that they don’t test features they change.
Ugh I feel you about the nest app, I had to downgrade back to my original nest thermostat bc I couldn’t get the schedule to work on just the home app
Google or alexa better?
I’m sorry Dave, I’m afraid I can’t do that🔴
Marki… braunli…
👍🏼
Not a huge fan of Orbi personally as I have been part of Best Buy Geek Squad as an in home installer and have consistently replaced them with Amazon’s Eero mesh system. Hands down a much more painless and user friendly mesh network system. I would definitely check them out as I have been installing Eero mesh systems for the past 7 months.
Can the nest cameras trigger lights to switch on when detection?
Wiz light bulbs which are also owned by Philips are better for lamps than smart outlets
Dammit, I just got bamboozled into watching a 10min best buy ad
I dislike saying "ok Google" to activate assistant. I prefer "Alexa" much smoother
at least you love sharing your private info with google but no thanks. A further path to obesity and be f"cking lazy
yeah Hue lights arent worth it unless you have the hub and can voice control them from your Alexa/Google Home IMO. Been using em for a few years now.
Can you do one using motion/contact sensors etc. Using zigbee?
Funny, I have the same setup except for lights I use Lutron switches with normal LEDs and wired Nest Camera. Orbi is pretty awesome!
🔥
What do you think about the Wyze Products?
