Stackable Washer Dryer – 6 Tips Before You Buy

Stackable Washer Dryer – 6 Tips Before You Buy

Purchasing a stackable washer and dryer is a common choice for many consumers because they solve two common issues when it comes to laundry – lack of space or wanting to maximize space. Many brands offer full size and compact sets, which can sometimes make the buying process a bit confusing. In this video, we will give you 6 important tips to consider while shopping for your next stackable washer and dryer set:

1. Measure your space – height, width, and depth to avoid installation and delivery issues
2. Double-check height to make sure short folks in your house can reach the high buttons
3. Know your dryer – whether gas or electric – each one gives different drying results
4. Get prepared with all the supplies you need before installation
5. Don’t forget the hinges and where your washer and dryer doors will swing open
6. Lose the pedestals if you had them for your side by side unit

Hi, I need to install stackable washer and dryer in the hallway closet. 1. What is the depth and width (rear and side space required between dryer and closet) 2. do i need a special ventilation? What models are vented?

  4. Celine Segel on December 25, 2021 at 1:35 pm

Very instructive video. What was the Miele stackable that didn’t require vent, do you have a model number?

My washer is 56cm x 60cm; would these 4cm be an issue in istalling the kit and a 60cm x 60cm dryer ?

thank you for the video, very good info. I have a Samsung washer/dryer and need to replace the washer. If I get a 27" wide any brand washer, can I still use the stacking kit? this is my major hurdle right now, would appreciate your assistance.

You are missing the most important reason. Short women can’t reach the controls on top. That’s why I got the LG Washtower

How many inches do I need to leave on each side/top/behind the stacked washer and dryer? The door is 28" wide and the washing machine is 27" wide, but the door blocks part of the opening, so there is really only 27" open space to get the machines into the laundry closet. There’s no space for someone to stand inside the laundry closet. Also, the washing machine door would be on the same side as the laundry room door. The height may be an issue too because the door height is 6’8" and the stacked washer/dryer would be at least 6’6". Would the installer be able to stack the machines, hook them up, and then slide them into the laundry closet with very little wiggle room on the sides and top of the machines? What about space behind the machines for hoses, ducts, cords, pipes, etc.?

We will be remodeling my laundry room in about a year and we decided we needed double appliances due to our family size. However, I am needing to buy at least one washer machine now because my existing one broke and I am finding out that the stand is not recommended on stackables. I see a lot of bending and back ache in my future….😥 I might just have to get 4 machines side by side…

My laundry has room for side by side washer dryer. I’m looking to stack so I can utilize additional space for laundry sink.
