Verizon wiped the iPhone 10 that I was going to turn in for my upgrade of $800 and while doing that the rep accidentally turned on the lost or stolen mode apparently making the “phone worthless” according to them cause it can’t be unwired. Not only did they not offer me the upgrade as a result, they charged my $85 in return fees for retuning the new iPhone I was go8ng to purchase. So now I’m out an iPhone ten and the return fees all because I wanted to upgrade my phone with Verizon. Anyone have an idea how I should deal with this

  11. Vincent Stouter on November 5, 2021 at 9:02 am

🤔 I appreciate your thoughts on having no payments on phone equipment and refusing to buy on payment plans for psychological reasons of well being. That said, if one wants new tech, a no-interest payment plan constitutes an interest-free loan so if one has the money investing the difference and choosing the no-interest both establishes a level monthly budget and allows one to earn interest.

I agree completely on avoiding credit interest payments and buying used (with some warranty). It build character to defer spending and have a “wish list”. This allows time for evaluating actual need and have the time to bargain shop.

  12. Yogesh X on November 5, 2021 at 9:05 am

having a loan is not an issue for me. I make sure I have enough money in my bank to pay it if I need to pay it full. Looks the US is full of people trying to buy things with money they dont have

  13. Isiah838 on November 5, 2021 at 9:06 am

Is there a way then to build credit?

  15. DriverSteve on November 5, 2021 at 9:08 am

Hmm… I always use the 24 month loan thru Sprint @ 0% interest and I have had this Samsung Note 8 paid for since 2 years ago and still using it today! I like using other people’s money to buy things especially if it’s at 0% interest! It has always worked out great for me!

  16. sharerofcontents 2.0 on November 5, 2021 at 9:10 am

Glad that in my country you either buy the phone at full price or just give up

  17. Josar Gor on November 5, 2021 at 9:11 am

haven’t watched the vid. going by comments i assume this is for people who don’t ahve the money to buy the phone and instead uses credit card and pay it off monthly.

  18. Brujo Hernandez on November 5, 2021 at 9:11 am

This was helpful. I went to t mobile and ask for my options for the new iPhone 13 pro. I told a rep i am just thinking about paying the phone in full on the spot. He was not happy about that. He told me to think about the plan for the phone $35 a month plan. I kept telling the rep i have no problem paying the phone in full price right now.

Any places I can put my money where it may earn intrest and I can pull it out or barrow out with no fees

  21. Luke From Texas on November 5, 2021 at 9:11 am

I upgrade my phone ever four or five years. When I know I am going to buy a new phone, I put aside $100-150 per month starting in January for the phone launch in September. Financing through carriers locks you into their system and it usually requires expensive plans.

  22. Akompliss Akompliss on November 5, 2021 at 9:12 am

I’m confused…. So I just paid off an Iphone XR. (I still have my Iphone 6+ sitting in a drawer because I couldn’t sell it…) So I own a really nice paperweight. I was paying $25 a month for the XR, that I’ve had for 3 years. Right now, I can get $800 in trade in for the XR for a $1,100 Iphone 13 pro. Then I’ll have an $8 payment for 30 something months.. I couldn’t sell this XR for $800, not even $400. The microphone is messed up and the battery isn’t great.

I’m not horrible at math but I don’t see a downside. I get the debt argument but I’m having trouble with all the conditions you put on the example I have the cash in my account to buy it outright and not wipe out my balance, but why the heck would I want to pay all that right now??

All of this is assuming you’re going to trade it in in a year and never pay it off..

  23. Kat I on November 5, 2021 at 9:13 am

I was told it would be better having monthly plan for an iPhone, which made me kind of anxious and rethink my decision of buying my iPhone outright, but I’d rather buy it full price knowing it’s mine. I’m also not the kind to buy phones every year so I’m happy with my decision. 😊

  26. Tee B on November 5, 2021 at 9:17 am

Thanks, i bought the Iphone 13 pro max knowing i dont need it, but I never purchase the latest anything…so for oncew in my life i figured, let me do it. I can afford it, but when i bought it I still find it stupid to spend all this money on a phone. A 2 3 hundred dollar phone can do the exact same thing.

  27. CHRIZTION on November 5, 2021 at 9:22 am

Lol I upgrade my phone every 3 years so technically I do own my phone. Ok I guess I’ll stop watching. Hope y’all are more responsible. Good luck!

  28. Dayon Mobley on November 5, 2021 at 9:22 am

It’s all the same money for the first 2 years. It’s what you do after you pay the lease off/pay in full. I’m debt free but when it comes to phones it really doesn’t matter because I’m not keeping no phone after 2 years. Never be penny wise and dollar foolish. Lease vs full purchase ain’t gonna move the financial informed needle.

Yeo listen up. I go to Biola University a private Christian school. Price per year is 22000 dollars per year for me. That’s with 18500 dollar scholarship already included. Here’s what I have to tell you. I have paid my college tuition myself working every summer not spending a dime and then paying it off when the bill is due. I graduate next semester with 0 dollars in debt. Work while you are in school. Save, don’t go out, DO NOT BUY A MEAL PLAN make your own food, just work hard and pay what you owe so you can be happy when your 50 and not still worried about your debt

  36. Aethan Garrett on November 5, 2021 at 9:34 am

I disagree. I always get way better deals with payment plans than paying in full price. So I’m the end it’s cheaper. So this logic is not 100% correct.

  38. AJ Ajala on November 5, 2021 at 9:35 am

Man I literally paid for 12 months financing twice and next thing I see a card and have an account number. You can’t even self finance anymore , it comes with a credit card with more credit line than you did . Never again , it’s terrible man

Awesome review. However, fractional reserve banking (deposits of others used for lending) does not exist in the modern economy. New money is put in the system through loans of private banks, making money out of thin air. It’s an interesting topic to research.

  41. Dr. Apollo on November 5, 2021 at 9:39 am

11:50 On thing I disagree with is that you should buy your house with cash because they are the cheapest loans you can get, so if you have a loan with 3% interest you could take the extra money and put it into the SMP 500, witch grows 10% a year. You would be making 7% of you money vs putting it all into you house and just having a house. You could make more money with your money or you could buy a house with it.

I actually have an issue trying to get a phone for my wife. Walmart, Best Buy, and ATT store won’t sell us an iPhone cash. I guess eBay it is.

  44. So Flo on November 5, 2021 at 9:42 am

This why ebay and Amazon the best just buy unlocked phones for the low

  45. Hs Gsgs on November 5, 2021 at 9:42 am

I actually buy my iPhone to take pictures and I saw sell of the pictures online since the cameras nowadays are pretty close to dslr standards.I even take pictures of actual models and I gain a little bit of siding come from that so

  46. Tony Ellis on November 5, 2021 at 9:43 am

What’s your opinion on this . I’m looking at switching over to att I have 2 iPhones XR and 11 they are offer $700 each for them towards a new iphone , would that be worth taking on a payment ? The $700 would be divided over a 24mth period

people can’t stop getting the latest stuff

  48. Vepxz YT on November 5, 2021 at 9:48 am

Wait so if you buy a phone with full price then you won’t have to pay monthly?

  49. Roman Reyna on November 5, 2021 at 9:49 am

Owning your device, or owning anything really, comes with the benefit of it not being taken from you. It’s overall a better financial move considering how much monthly payments can actually cost in the long run. By the time you’re finished paying off the device, 2-3 have already been released (considering you don’t get caught in the iphone forever loop) companies prey on people constantly craving to have the newest device. They make money off that consumption. Every year, releasing minor upgrades to feed that itch. Granted not everyone can buy a phone outright, but getting into debt to have a phone that works the exact same way your current one does is unnecessary.

  50. Ram Mani on November 5, 2021 at 9:49 am

I was gonna send my money down the drain to buy the new iPhone… This is exactly the kind of sitting down and talking to that I needed right now. Thank you so much.
