The 16" MacBook Pro Can GAME! + Everything You Need To Know About Mac Gaming

You’ve probably heard that Macs aren’t made for gaming. We’ll, it’s true that they aren’t made specifically for dedicated gaming. I bought this 16″ MacBook Pro to be a video editing machine (which it’s great at, by the way) but it turns out it can do some legit gaming. In this video I’ll show you how to find the best games to play on the Mac (hint: don’t look in the Mac app store), do some game demos and show the settings I’m playing at for games like Apex Legends, Fortnite, Rise Of The Tomb Raider and more, talk about the specs of my machine and why it makes a decent gaming laptop, unbox some awesome gear from Twitch and end with a Mac gaming Q&A answering some of your questions.

You can buy me a coffee as a thank you if you appreciate the channel:

1:23 – why this Mac can game
2:33 – my specs
3:22 – finding Mac games worth playing
3:44 – Windows and bootcamp
5:07 – Mac App Store games
5:56 – steam
6:36 – Nvidia GeForce now
7:29 – download straight from developers
8:08 – Game play demos
8:27 – rise of the tomb raider
10:06 – fortnite
11:57 – Apex legends
13:46 – battlefront 2
14:35 – Twitch unboxing
16:34 – Q&A

I wonder what’ll happen when game developers start optimism better and when the 16 inch receives an Apple CPU to replace Intel.

  11. Mahmudul Arefin on August 24, 2021 at 10:21 pm

    Should have included fps counters.

  12. BMLMZ on August 24, 2021 at 10:21 pm

Your opinion of what is very playable would make your average console peasant puke. Thats got to be 15fps what you are looking at there. Not playable at all, even for an old LCD handheld paceman game…

Would you rather hackintosh a gaming laptop or bootcamp a macbook 16?

  19. Fred's Aquariums and electronics on August 24, 2021 at 10:31 pm

I just bought the I9 macbook pro and have a couple questions if anyone can help. I played a couple matches of Pokemon TCGO and each time my macbook has given me the spinning loading wheel between matches whereas my OLD 2012 macbook air doesn’t do this. Mine also gets decently hot just browsing the internet. I have turned on the Dedicated graphics and it doesn’t help. Is this actually normal or is mine just messed up? Thanks 😀

  20. PRIME on August 24, 2021 at 10:32 pm

Dude is playing Apex legends with settings WAY higher than I play on my desktop with a GTX 1070, and it looks noticeably better, bro why?

  21. Castle Lavender on August 24, 2021 at 10:32 pm

This video is actually a big help. My daughter just purchased a 16" Mac Book Pro for graphic design for college and is bummed she cant play her PC games. She is so upset about the fact she spent $3300 on a laptop and cant play her games. And of course cant find a suitable for Mac game. lol Thanks

Can u reverse boot camp tho

  26. Albin Alm on August 24, 2021 at 10:39 pm

But, do you have 4 or 8gb of VRAM?

  27. Meridias Watchtower on August 24, 2021 at 10:40 pm

Eh, I tried playing Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic on my 2019 13” base model and while it ran buttery smooth, the integrated graphics made the fans kick on a wee bit. Granted, it’s an old game and can run on a toaster from 1980, but I’ll stick to lighter stuff like Stardew Valley and let my gaming rig do the heavy lifting.

(I do like how the Steam Cloud can sync saves between operating systems. I tested it the other day and it worked like a dream)

  28. LOST ANARCHIST on August 24, 2021 at 10:41 pm

My 2011 15” MacBook Pro can play GTA IV perfectly

  33. Wietick on August 24, 2021 at 10:48 pm

I’m totally gonna save for this

  34. Blagovest Karakashev on August 24, 2021 at 10:48 pm

Very poorly done video. I am saying that because you are not showing or saying what resolution you are running on what FPS you are getting nothing specific. Great idea this video could have been great however is missing very important and critical information in my opinion. Also you show all your MacBook Pro spec but you didn’t say what video card you have…I guess you have the 5500m.

  35. Mohammed Thanseer on August 24, 2021 at 10:49 pm

What will happen if we play heavy games on macbook

  36. Jeff Koons on August 24, 2021 at 10:52 pm

Really enjoyed this video! I’m at the point that I want to replace my 2013 MBP (especially while they still have Intel chips), and I have been debating as to whether to ditch Mac and go with something like Razor or go with the MBP16. This video helps me a lot. Thanks!

  37. Amirsadra 213 on August 24, 2021 at 10:55 pm

do you have to have the microsoft boot camp in order to directly download steam games on the macbook pro? or can I just directly download them with the mac book pro itself

  41. Brass Tax on August 24, 2021 at 11:00 pm

How do dudes like this have tech channels?
*Apex clearly lagging and struggling to run smoothly*
“Let’s go into the settings and turn everything up to the highest settings”

    This video helps nobody.

  45. YEET MC SKEET on August 24, 2021 at 11:05 pm

It’s kinda annoying you put all settings max and say “wow this is so playable” and never changes the settings to all normal or medium or low 🤦‍♂️

  46. Dave OsBeatz on August 24, 2021 at 11:06 pm
