The Controversial Scene that took 'The Beverly Hillbillies' off the Air
The Beverly Hillbillies is an American sitcom television series broadcast on CBS from 1962 to 1971. The show had an ensemble cast featuring Buddy Ebsen, Irene Ryan, Donna Douglas, and Max Baer Jr. as the Clampetts, a poor backwoods family from the Ozarks region of Arkansas[1] who move to posh Beverly Hills, California after striking oil on their land. The show was produced by Filmways and was created by writer Paul Henning. It was followed by two other Henning-inspired “country cousin” series on CBS: Petticoat Junction and its spin-off Green Acres, which reversed the rags-to-riches, the country-to-city model of The Beverly Hillbillies.
The Beverly Hillbillies ranked among the top 20 most-watched programs on television for eight of its nine seasons, twice ranking as the number one series of the year, with 16 episodes that remain among the 100 most-watched television episodes in history. It accumulated seven Emmy nominations during its run. The series remains in syndicated reruns, and its ongoing popularity spawned a 1993 film remake by 20th Century Fox.

The headline is a lie! No one likes liars…bye bye 🇬🇧
I rarely criticise any work without having seen, read, or heard it first, but in this case, given the comments, I’m prepared to make an exception. Bye-bye!
that’s absurd — of COURSE they shot the show on a soundstage — even most of the exteriors! They did use a real house for some establishing shots, but they would never have made in a real location – they didn’t do that in those days.
When you get a deceptive video title like this one, click on those 3 dots next to the thumbnail and select "Don’t Recommend Channel". Problem solved. This will be the last FactsVerse video recommended to me. Huzzah!
Wow. Just about everyone on planet earth knows it was OIL and not gold. Geez
Note to self, block anything from Facts Verse. Totally misleading and any real fan knew everything in this video.
What a pile of shit! There is no "controversial scene". Facts Verse must be run by the Russian State Disinformation Service.
Reported for misleading text in the title. How do I block this pos (pretty old storyteller) channel?
fk off with your jrkoff headlines
b.s. story – the show was simply not renewed as its ratings started falling and two of the main cast wanted to move on
They struck oil not gold. Why do you lie in the headline?
I was thinking for awhile seeing this video on the recommended list and ignoring it. There is no one scene that would not Controversial In fact that s kind of what made the show what it was There are many scenes that could be called Controversial however to me at least those are the same type people that get upset over Starbucks Christmas cups or Christmas lights on too early or that neighbor that painted their house a colour not the same as everyone else did people that think everyone should be offended by some dumb little details this show is almost having some Controversial scenes each episode and I think others would agree it is in part those same scenes that made it what it was and still is a tv classic
Some people also thought that the show was making of southerners and hill people I don’t think it was I have respect for all people of all nationalities we loved this show growing and other shows like it like green acres or petty coat junction and these shows ended up being connected in storylines people and critics can say what they want but I think it was a good show and unique in its own way
Seth MacFarlane was Jethro!!?? 😉
They didnt strike gold asshat, they struck oil !
F’s worse 😡👎
How do you talk about all the characters on the Beverly hillbillies and leave out Mr. Drysdale ?
Loved the show and the 1993 movie. Scene with Jethro and wall mounted intercom was funniest in movie history
Another sucker deal
The title of this video is very misleading! There is NOTHING "controversial" about it. BAD FORM!
Struck OIL not gold. Fact ✔️
It was oil not gold the Clampetts discovered.
Ever get tired of smart mouthed, high minded twits pretending they are going to tell you something NOBODY knows, then telling you stuff EVERYONE knows?
You ought to be ashamed! Not one word about any "controversial" episode."
They didn’t strike gold! They struck oil!!!! Black Gold!!! Texas Tea!!!!
You don’t say what scene got them taken off the air!!!

Make no mistake – when critics use the harshest, vulgar criticism they can conjure up against something overwhelmingly popular with the public, that criticism is simply unspoken condemnation toward that same public they consider to be stupid, uncultured, and uneducated, whose purpose is for exploitation by them, the Godless “elite” class.
Stop enriching those who would snatch God from His throne and kill Him if they could.
i really wish you would
Another interesting fact: there was a second Manson Family victim on the show: Donald "Shorty" Shea was a stuntman credited with appearances on the Beverly Hillbillies. He had lived and worked on the Spahn Movie Ranch where the Manson Family lived. He was apparently murdered on Charlie Manson’s ordered his followers to kill him in August 1969, the same month Sharon Tate was murdered. His body was found in the desert in 1977.
"Flatt" and Scruggs … not "Flats" …
I always love this show id like to see another one like it
Ah… they didn’t ‘strike gold’… they struck OIL! 😉
Tennessee not Arkansas
Well I will be blocking this channel there’s eight minutes of my life that I just pissed away
Bait and switch!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where is The Controversial Scene, or episode?????????? Lir!
So the "controversial scene" wasn’t even a scene. Thanks for wasting my time, facts verse. unsubscribed.
That’s 8 minutes and 49 seconds I’ll never get back.
Hey Narrator guy, they struck oil not gold
My favorite 2 characters are Jethro and granny. They are hilarious
A bit corny at times but still a classic >>> Unlike most of today’s "sitcom" shows where the prime objective is trying to get laid !!!
Absolutely brilliant video I used to watch reruns in the 70s as a kid, as I started watching I thought I’m going to subscribe to this channel, only to find in the end you tricked people into watching by saying the thing that got it cancelled. I don’t understand why such a talented producer of videos has to do this, so I’m giving you a thumbs down you fool 👎
So what was the scene? Disapointing
Black gold.. Texas Tea
Spoiler ALERT there’s NO such scene. Producer lied .wasn’t one scene , it was too many country shows running that got this favorite one pulled in 71.
