The Demise of Fry's Electronics

The Demise of Fry's Electronics

Fry’s Electronics was THE place to go if you needed to rebuild your computer back in the day. The had great deals on all sorts of electronics and appliances. In the world of electronics, they sold everything. When I heard they were closing permanently, I was definitely bummed out, but at the same time, what did I expect? I abandoned Fry’s for Amazon just like the majority of their patrons. The prices were right, but their refund policy was difficult to say the least. Let’s just say you needed to make sure you definitely wanted something from Fry’s before purchasing because returning it was going to take an act of congress. However, at the end of the day, I truly enjoyed shopping at Fry’s Electronics and I will miss them.

Fry’s sold me a "refurbished" "smart" TV that was dumb as hell. Probably the reason why whoever first bought it, returned it. Did Fry’s"refurbish" the TV?! 🤷🏾‍♂️ Who knows… Returned to store but manager gave me a hard time and kept trying to sell me another TV, a more expensive one! Never went back!

Businesses start out with a mission statement. Most start out with lowest prices, good customer service, etc., but then prices suddenly aren’t the lowest, customer service with an attitude, etc., and they wonder why their business wanes…. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Fry’s return policy gave you 30 days to return nearly anything you bought. You can buy a motherboard, ram and cpu and return them before 15 days even after you have used them.

What killed Fry’s is nobody wanted to supply them with products to sell.
A Fry’s executive was imprisoned for embezzlement.
Fry’s would pay their distributors late ALL THE TIME.
Many of the distributors refused to send Fry’s any products to sell unless Fry’s fully pays for them first.
Fry’s thought they were hot shit and dug their heels in the sand and said "Our way or the highway". Distributors told Fry’s to eat shit.

Brick and mortar stores are not dying. Look at Micro Center and Best Buy. They are still around despite Amazon.

Amazon prices are also not the lowest. Often times Micro Center have better prices than Amazon.

Fry’s was managed by people who are so full of themselves and thought the world revolved around them. They often abused their employees and didn’t pay overtime when they should have. Fry’s was managed by idiots. It’s sad how many of their hard working employees went down with them.
