  2. Dusan Doroski on May 8, 2022 at 7:57 pm

I actually built a computer for €3000 without a graphic card. I went for quite a few expensive parts because I wanted an all white looker build. The motherboard and ddr5 ram cost a fortune if you want a niche product.
But then I bought i5-12600k because next gen Intel is going to be socket 1700, that’s when I’ll get i9. Also next gen proooobably 4080-equivalent (prob not top end).
Buying a GPU now is not a good idea, even though the prices are falling.

  3. Eric Blacker on May 8, 2022 at 7:59 pm

A lot of this rings so true. I started a build around Christmas with a Z690 Hero. I’m on my now 6th motherboard. First one recalled, I replaced it with a Gigabyte Aorus Master installed it, it was D.O.A., took that back for a ROG Strix F which worked great, ASUS offered to swap me back to Hero, of which a RAM channel died on in a couple of weeks, sent me another recalled Hero to replace that I caught by seeing the reversed capacitor, and then finally sent me a working Hero for the sixth board. However, I"ve just RMA’d my second set of G.Skill Trident Z5 for a third set. Not sure if it’s poor QC on the RAM or if the Hero is killing it. We’ll see on this third set. A lot of big steps in new technology are coming together and trying to work together, combined with QC issues I’ve never seen the likes of. The products were hard enough to get ahold of at inflated pricing, and they aren’t sufficiently tested. It’s like the leaps in technology are coming so fast, they are pushing to get the products out before their competitors without sufficient testing. Keep in mind I bought from top-tier manufacturers who I’ve had great history with. Beware right now, make sure you research the customer service of whatever products you buy. You may very well need it.

I bought the XfX 6700 XT 319 Qick a couple months ago. It’s a terrific card and it’s down to 600 right now. Well worth it

  5. Jacques Baril on May 8, 2022 at 8:02 pm

I just built my system around amd Rysen 9 5950X half priced on Newegg and ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 V2 OC Edition 10GB at reasonable price. I am just so happy with the result that I can say : It will be my last system, because I am old enough. Thanks Jay for your interesting comments.

  6. Brandon Johnson on May 8, 2022 at 8:03 pm

I just bought a pre-built ASUS on sale for $1500 for the first time since 2003. I put all of the parts in a cart at newegg and got $2500+. It’s a 3080 and an 11th gen, and I’m just planning on upgrading parts as prices start to come back down. I’m actually really happy with the result.

  7. The Humble Pundit on May 8, 2022 at 8:04 pm

Here’s my current issue. I could not care less about the latest greatest. I am looking at the i5-12600K, but am building to race online in Assetto Corsa Competizione. I have an amazing 1080p 32" curved monitor, and don’t even need an amazing graphics card. The one I want is absolutely NOWHERE to be found unless you buy pre-built, which I have no interest in. So why is the GTX 2060 ti so impossible to find? And not at $1K…even used!? What would be something close that I can find under $500? Any recommendations would be AMAZING. Thanks.

  8. The Great Buddha on May 8, 2022 at 8:06 pm

LoL they still got ways to go. I’m still waiting for my 3080 at 500 dollars

  9. EnriqueIglesiasBG on May 8, 2022 at 8:06 pm

Built my new pc in 10 years just 2 months back. Speaking of QC – already my led on the psu has failed lol.
    12900kf, 3080ti, asus rog thor 1200w, samsung 980 pro.
The cpu is a heater. I paired it with an air cooler and sometimes seeing temperatures 80+ in-game. Still safe, but it makes me uncomfortable.

  10. ManOfHouse on May 8, 2022 at 8:07 pm

Just rebuilt a system. I live in Japan so the yen is super weak right now. That coupled with better prices than ive seen in what seems like a long time… I just had to.

    i9 12900k
    Asus rog strix z690
    DDR5 32GB kingston hyper
    RTX 3070 Ti

    I replaced a 17 6700k and 1060.

Yea the upgrade feels like a space jump right now.

  11. Kurt on May 8, 2022 at 8:11 pm

i think waiting is fine if u are just getting a pre build pc but if not i say good luck

  12. Mr Blackkatt on May 8, 2022 at 8:12 pm

Unless it’s confirmed that graphics cards are breaking down ? It’s more likely it’s the driver if we talking about Nvidia. Their driver is absolute garbage for more than 6 months perhaps 12+ months. Just look on their forum.

  13. Jay NC on May 8, 2022 at 8:13 pm

I’m starting my PC build now. I’m ok with getting CPUs and GPUs that are almost at the end of their cycle for a decent price though.

  14. Logan the Hamster on May 8, 2022 at 8:14 pm

What about the GPUs from Intel, Jay?
Or why buy a Gaming PC anyways, when you can simply just stream nearly every single game already and therefore save a ton of money (short- and longterm).

  15. Plague Studios on May 8, 2022 at 8:16 pm

Just bought a RTX 3060ti be here on tuesday! Replacing my gtx 1650. Gonna be a glorious upgrade I hope.

  16. Mark Randolf Aguilar on May 8, 2022 at 8:18 pm

Jay, can you make a gpu review now that it’s closer to MSRP?

  17. kokumosu on May 8, 2022 at 8:19 pm

i dont know if its due to my system, but my 5800x system started to randoly stop responding to mouse and keyboard inputs for about 5 seconds.
Ive redone my chipset drivers, reinstalled windows, and the only thing that has been done is PBO TDP, EDP, and TDC caps, no undervolting.
I dont know when it started, but its annoying.

  18. Aaron Cook on May 8, 2022 at 8:23 pm

Jay – I did my first build with my 13 year old son by watching your videos, during C-19 early on.

Then I built mine with some good gear (ex a good GPU) on a 5950X about 2-3 months later.

Then came a "Bling Build" on a Ryzen 7 5700G in a Alien type case lots of RGB. That was a month or so later.

Then for my partners daughter a mini build on a 5600G in a not so small Thermaltake Tower 100 Mini Tower Racing – Green Edition.

I never finished my own as I wanted – I decided to make it a Desk Build – Currently building a Carbon Fibre (reflections materials blue or red) desk to house it – will be air cooled and have a few Noctua 200mm fans and 140 mm also.

Now I am not sure if I will wait a bit and go the AMD 5 or stick with the 4.

Anyway – Thanks for all the tips over the last 18 months.

  19. Rood67 on May 8, 2022 at 8:25 pm

Just waiting on the gen Nvidia to come out so I can buy the last gen at a better price, hopefully. My AMD Vega 8Gb is getting log in the tooth for what I need in DaVinci Resolve.

  20. ZaheenX on May 8, 2022 at 8:25 pm

Built a 5600X and an Asus 3080 Strix late last year before any sales started happening. Super happy, could have saved money but I’m happy, hopefully it will last me a long time.

  21. Some Dude on May 8, 2022 at 8:26 pm

Yeah, idk anymore. Been trying to get a new computer for way too long now.

  22. Gozew StuffNThings on May 8, 2022 at 8:28 pm

    alomst, alomst.

  23. Robert on May 8, 2022 at 8:28 pm

I just wish I could build a 5700g/5700XT desktop and get a 5700u 2-in-1 laptop. Yes I have OCD and like the matching numbers. Shutup lol.

  24. Hugo Mouteira on May 8, 2022 at 8:28 pm

Im rockin with an 18 core delidded 7980xe that I bought used from ebay for 400€ around christmas time, Im still using a 1080ti, and Im happy as hell xD

  26. rios cloud on May 8, 2022 at 8:29 pm

If you need it, and you can get it, that mean you should get it. Nothing is perfect, for example the 3090 Ti is the most powerful GPU right now, but 5 years later, it can be trash if Nvidia launch the 6090 or 7090. Technology never sleep, you shouldn’t (and you couldn’t) chase for the ultimate hi-end products, it just a bad habbit, waste of money and resources, build a good PC then don’t bother about other model, just use your PC well until it become "old", maybe at least 4 years I think, some component like PSU or SSD may last even much longer than that.

  27. Hussain Ahmed on May 8, 2022 at 8:30 pm

I’m still happy with my RX 580 & R5 2600 combo, and I think I would wait to the new gen to do any upgrades.

  28. Big Nose on May 8, 2022 at 8:31 pm

    Running a R5 3600 with a 1070. i thought of getting a 3070 a while back but just couldn’t go through with it.
My 1070 is my baby, it has served me throughout the shortage and i don’t want to replace it. <3

  29. Evacody124 on May 8, 2022 at 8:31 pm

I’m happy with my Ryzen 7 3700x and rx6700xt with 32gigs. I have a ASUS tuf b550 motherboard. I just wish I had not burned out my 5 pin header. Thankfully I’m getting s razer chroma addressable RBG controller.

So I’m happy. Though I may later just update to a Ryzen 7 5800x3D and call it a day until it’s time to do a full upgrade to go over to Windows 11.

  30. Logan Hartsel on May 8, 2022 at 8:33 pm

I RMA’d my FTW3 3090 two weeks ago because of black screening and fans at 100% then never working again. New card is supposed to be here in a few days… Had to disassemble the card itself since I had the hybrid kit on it… Really lame.

  31. Sky man on May 8, 2022 at 8:34 pm

Right now I wait with buying my parts and not only the gpu.
I probably get the gpu ad the end of the year or beginning next year.
But I also wait with the cpu. As my info is right, prices will drop very soon on the Intel 12th gen cpu’s.
My is told that Intel is announcing a new cpu that is above the i9 and that all prices drop, because the new one will be, what the i9 is now.

I can wait. My old pc still works and I can still run everything on it where I work with.

  32. Nighthearted on May 8, 2022 at 8:34 pm

The problem is the new minimum price for decent GPUs. People on the low-end like me have been stuck with the same price to performance for half a decade already.

  33. EmeryAustin on May 8, 2022 at 8:36 pm

One less person…more like one less miner with 100’s of cards…

    Jay is literally glowing?

  36. James Tyler on May 8, 2022 at 8:39 pm

So my 2080ti went to crap about a month ago. Put a hold on a 3080ti at micro center and same day went to pick it up. They had no water block for the one that I put a hold on but… they had 3090 FEs on the shelf for msrp. So now
I have a 3090 in my rig and I’m super happy with it.

  37. Donald Rump on May 8, 2022 at 8:39 pm

I’m waiting for Lovelace because leaks are saying that performance is 1.5x-2x then ampere

  38. AnotherIdiotWind on May 8, 2022 at 8:44 pm

:: Jacks up GPU MSRP :: … "hey look, we’re back to normal!"

    The new ‘normal’.

  39. Collection Goals on May 8, 2022 at 8:44 pm

I just built my first pc and it was so so so fun! Went for a 3080 and an i7 11th gen. Was an upgrade from a pc I purchased in 2015, and I was still happy with the old one! I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of this one

  40. Zack Johnston-watson on May 8, 2022 at 8:45 pm

  41. Robert Cook on May 8, 2022 at 8:46 pm

I have the new Hyte case just waiting on a build but I think I’m going to wait and get in on the ground floor of AM5. The 8700k will just have to last a little longer.

  42. animeguy10000000 on May 8, 2022 at 8:47 pm

New to the channel and to PC building altogether, and I’m currently stuck on whether to buy now, or wait.

  43. Rofino Putera on May 8, 2022 at 8:47 pm

waiting for new series to see price drop on older series. still observing old parts to finally build my first pc

  44. Hanz Joven Pajota on May 8, 2022 at 8:50 pm

Why Choose When You can Do Both XD

  45. Isaac Alonzo on May 8, 2022 at 8:50 pm

Honestly I went and got a gaming laptop, got tired to wait. Can’t wait for 40 series to launch just so I can get a cheaper 3090ti.

  46. exploiteddna on May 8, 2022 at 8:50 pm

No regrets here either; I just bought a 3080Ti for less than MSRP.. 2080Ti is being sold now, ill upgrade my 5900x/AM4 whenever I feel like it. This setup is a beast as it is. No need to stress about the upcoming launches, which are surely going to be chaotic af, like they always are. I’m happy where Im at, so I’ll just sit back watch everyone else go crazy trying to get their hands on the new products this fall/winter

  47. Revan ZeroMc on May 8, 2022 at 8:51 pm

I have my laptop with a 5800H and a 3050Ti (the downside, 4GB 3050Ti :c) but I think I can play what I want to play there for quite some time, maybe in a few years I’ll look into building, but not now that AM5 and DDR5 are coming together and well… I don’t want to be an early adopter XD

  48. Driss Houssainate on May 8, 2022 at 8:52 pm

So do I wait until the end of the mounth to get my rtx 3050 at ~270$ and wait for am5 launch and buy the new ryzen 5 X600?
    Note:650$ budget

  49. Bradon Runion on May 8, 2022 at 8:53 pm
