What Appliance Brand Is The Best?
What Appliance Brand Is The Best?
What kitchen and home appliance brand is best? I wish I could give you a solid answer but the truth is that they are all suffering from poor quality in the recent years. It is not as much what brand is best as what production year is best. The older appliances are of much better quality and were actually built to last whereas the new ones look pretty and are energy efficient but are built to be replaced, the sooner the better. This applies to all of them, the refrigerator, washing machine, dryer, stove, dishwasher and the rest. In this video I review which appliance brands are good and which ones not to buy. The purpose of this video is to be more thought rather than a reference link to which model appliance you should buy. I mentioned a similar video of mine for heating and air conditioning. On year 1990 I needed washer and dryer, but had no money my brother bought it for me with credit card so I can pay later $610.00 for the set, I got both of them the chipper they had on the store PC Richard’s The name brand Roper, today 2023 I still have the gas dryer functioning like the day I got it, the washer machine I had to get rid of it because rust problems but was still working 7 years ago I got GE top loader and is a very good machine no problems yet.
Look at you tube videos you can repair most things
Thank you for your advise. I loved my Kenmores had my dishwasher for almost 20 years I think I need to replace it. I already knew I will not purchase a Samsung or LG. Was looking at the Profile since I replaced my stove with one last year but after you video not sure I want to do that.
$250 LG microwave just went out after 18 months. They offered me a 20% discount on my next one. I will never but an lg microwave again.
Thank you!
If Samsung’s main selling point is how nice they look, why dont these better quality brands just go ahead and make their products look better? Wouldn’t that push Samsung almost completely out of the market? Reminds me of the American cars in the 90s. Built well enough, but the design and styling were not good at all. Just bc something is built like tank doesn’t mean it has to look like one.
Ge top load machines with knobs are long lasting good performers….also GE front loads are anti microbial rings in washer and has an air fan that circulates fresh air after wash….top load GE have some problems if they are digital…..not all bad…..LG has excellent washer dryers….long life and few repairs….again …not perfect
LOVE your honesty! THANK YOU!!!
I like the last joke the best about the mrs ….lmao….😅
My Samsung bespoke arrived with my front Wouldn’t it be nice for the sales person to mention they don’t come with.
Bosch DW are the best as far as cleaning and likely to last 10-12 years and longer if you don’t use it daily. My Mother used her Whirlpool DW in the 70s through 1996 about 3 times a week when us kids were little. People are crazy today with cleanliness but they do all kinds of other stuff that’s dirty. So we try to be conservative and only use our dishwasher about three times a week. Maytag seems to be pretty good with wall ovens and the refrigerator that I just bought and I bought a bottom freezer refrigerator and very simple but yeah it’s a nice stainless look …..,now the fancy ones are not worth it and they will break down. but it’s true …nothing lasts 25 to 35 years anymore except a speed Queen washer and dryer that I bought. And I am hoping as they said it will last 25 years and I wash about twice a week sometimes three times a week. Truly sad. Moms old Maytag set from new in 1970 lasted 26 years on our farm
With us kids and my dad who raised livestock and it was busy in our home. Try that today …it won’t happen. The outsourcing is disgusting and this government today is horrible and I am talking Biden and rhino Republicans. I don’t care who I offend either and there is at the top the federal reserve bank that needs to go …get rid of it We know who owns us. So we seem to agree.
My brother in law changed his washer every year and a half. He did it almost for 5 cycles and I kept mine tilled today. Sometimes it is not the product fault but most of us are not handy man type and it may feel daunting to dismantle a washer or dryer. But I totally agreed with you that simple is always better.
Totally agreed!
You’re awesome! 😂
I think this is true with anything. The less electrical or computerized the better. I have always heard this from friends who are mechanics or any kind of repairmen.
thank you so much. im looking for washer and dryer and wanted the samsung ones but i have to snap back to reality lol
My LG TROMM gas dryer still run ps great. I bought it in 2004. I’m sure the washer would still be here if, I didn’t use the homemade detergent. Lesson learned. The newer washer sucks. The next one will just be standard tub and not front load. The secret is to buy a separate spinner. The clothes come out almost dry with high speed spinners.
Companies got greedy and realized they can use cheap parts they break down and you have to buy another one.
I have a Kenmore refrigerator (manufactured by Whirlpool) that I bought in 2007. It’s a simple french door with the ice maker in the freezer. I have not had one problem with it in the last 16 years.
Just spent a lot of money on g e profile kitchen products I hope they impress so far so good. I was told by repairman a long time ago to just keep old Kenmore w/d that’s done me well.😊
I’ve been working on this stuff for quite some time and all of the Samsung stuff is garbage, aside from phones and TVs. The geniuses at Samsung decided to make a dishwasher that pushes the door open at the end of the cycle (to dry faster) so if you have the old particle board style laminate countertops the steam billows out and absorbs into the wood destroying your countertop. They make everything as difficult as possible to take apart. Do not buy any of their appliances. All of them are junk. Their icemakers are junk, their dishwashers are junk, and the relays on the circuit boards on their dryers fail often.
My laundry set is 20 years old and they are fantastic
Ive had the worst of luck with Whirlpool
I have a samsung ecobubble and i have no problems with my samsung washer its still works after 2 years of using it
Good solid advice…..buying a new appliance is so stressful!
Its complicated. New tech isn’t going to last as long as older tech usually, but newer tech does sometimes offer efficiency benefits which we desperately need to slow climate change. Sadly it may genuinely be more efficient to keep some older stuff than to get something that will last five years, and will then get thrown away. We also need to remember that if nothing ever breaks, or is ever improved the economy will stagnate, and many people with less education will lose jobs as there’s less work for them to do, and a lot of unskilled labor work has gone to other countries. The profit incentive to make stuff that needs be replaced is widely recognized, and is often called the "boots theory of economics", but it doesn’t feel like anyone makes a better alternative anymore which is very problematic. More than ever I think we all need to research, and understand the products we’re buying to the best of our knowledge. Seek out alternatives if possible.
We got tired of buying used appliances that bite the dust. Just got a Samsung set with warranty and service plan from Lowes.
I avoid American appliances. I left South Africa in 2002 and left a LG washing machine there after we had it for 5 years. So it is 25 years old now. So much for LG which not good quality. I had 1 GE dishwasher and it was garbage. In all the houses i did inspections the American appliances were really bad.
I belive u
I am a general contractor and purchase about 20 appliances every year. I agree with about 80% of what you said. However I have had good luck with LG and you need to consider efficiency when holding on to old appliances. New refrigerators use much less electricity and front load washers use much less water.
If you don’t mind a few scratches or dents, Lowes Outlet or American Freight can save you a lot of money.
I have a LG front loading washer that has worked well for over five years. However the body of the washer has become a rusting hulk. I guess they didn’t make this washer waterproof.
I bought a Kenmore front loader washer 13 years ago. A few days ago I put in too large a load (heavy bath mat) and the unit started smoking during the spin cycle, so I figured I had broken it. I tried a gentle cycle smaller load this morning and it was fine. Should I be worried? I dread buying a new machine that won’t last.
Great video! Agree 100%.
Could you please do a video on large upright freezers? Purchased a Kenmore about 8 months ago and the gasket failed about 4 months in. I have several older Kenmore appliances all still running how was I to know Kenmore wasn’t what it once was?
I’m now stuck trying to make a decision. Don’t know which brand is the most reliable, don’t want to make the same mistake.
We just had our GE dishwasher break what seems to be the sensor to close the door twice in 5 months. We are done. We ordered an LG.
Never ever had a problem with an LG laundry washer, and their TV’s are legendary. We’ll see how they do with the dishwasher domain.
I do agree the more bell and whistles/iPad the worse.
Anyway, I can vouch for the LG built in laundry / dryer.
I bought a Kenmore washer and dryer in 1986. The washer died last year but the dry is still going strong and the lint filter is on the top.
THanks for the advice. I just bought a new washer , the older one quit and now have a top loader, from Home Hardware.
I bought mechanical series 5 Speed Queen washer and dryer. So happy!
Thank you so much for the advice! Our dishwasher died on us, and I was considering saving up for 6 months to try and buy a new one. But after I watched this video I found a used 1989 Whirlpool on Facebook marketplace. I got it for $71, it’s in beautiful condition. Love the blue dish racks. And it works! It’s way better than my Bosch ever was. Love this thing! It’s funny because you said to look for someone who is upgrading their appliances, and that’s what the listing for this dishwasher said. Plus they were only 10 minutes away. Thanks so much for the solid advice.
Very true and well stated!
Totally agree on the Speed Queen Washers & Bosch dishwashers🏆🏆
I learned a lot of the other things you mentioned from my Mom…go with rotary vs digital. Also the more the bells & whistles are just the more that will break sooner.
Most warranty are limited one year warranty
Well said and accurate. Thank you! Some day the manufacturers may figure out that people are onto their game but greed always wins. Great videos and info!
I can’t believe people listen to you 😂 warranties are 1 year not two year. Kenmore that you speak so highly of was also made by “Low grade” LG. I get you’re in repairs but you seem really out of touch.
I get the bashing on Samsung, but LG? I’ve got two LG appliances – fridge and DW and have "0" issues. Really happy with both. totally agree with you about the quality of appliances these days. Yes – the old units are built better, but the really old units that aren’t efficient need to replace with something less power hungry. The other part worth mentioning is the availability of parts for the older units. I had to replace my DW a few months back all I needed was a seal for the pump assembly but couldn’t find one. GE is the worst appliance ever. I’ll never by GE again in my life.
My picks: Samsung for fridges. GE Profile for stoves/ovens. LG makes the best microwaves, and Kenmore made the best washing machines. Also Frigidare makes really good dishwashers. I have a Kenmore Elite Smart Wash Quietpak 9 washer and it still runs great to this day. Can’t say the same thing about other brands. Kenmore was built to last, and so are the other brands I mentioned.
thanks for the video and the the dad jokes at the end I loveved it
Any comments about standup freezer brands to consider?…..maybe options which can go wrong – ie auto defrost vs manual defrost etc
At a friend’s place – she has a BEKO range. Advice? Just don’t. The gas stove is good, but the oven is well … not that great
I love your scripture on the cutting board. The Lord is good! Thanks for all your video’s!
