What Is The Origin Of The S Rank?

Being ranked in a game is very important. One of the biggest examples is the milestone of ‘S rank’. But where did that come from? Falcon breaks it down.

Hehe just started a replay couple of weeks ago of MGSV going through trying to S-rank all the missions, without a guide. I’m taking my time with it though but I enjoy setting myself the challenge, sit down for a quiet evening and try and figure a mission out, playing around with all the gadgets trying different strategies, Feels pretty good when you get that end screen and BOOM did it.

That off-the-rails philosophical "competition within the community" argument though.
    Too deep.

‘S’ means ‘Super’. As simple as it is. You are ‘Superior than ‘A’ or the highest ranking. Why make this so complicated?

  7. Kringus on October 22, 2021 at 9:01 am

Cuphead the best for s rank. Not only did you get that perfect score no no no, you did it on the expert difficulty not only making the fight harder but making you beat the game to achieve it. And that’s why I like s rank in cuphead

S will ALWAYS stand for super
Just like how there’s mario bros, but there’s also SUPER mario bros, or the Nintendo but also the SUPER Nintendo
(Nes, *S*nes) despite the fact that these examples are always from Nintendo and the S rank is something I will always associate with sonic

  29. Carewolf on October 22, 2021 at 9:24 am

The old grading system used in Denmark had a top grade called 13, which was above A which was 11. It was removed because many American and English university couldn’t understand why no Danish student ever had a clean slate of top grade, since our top grade was so much higher than A that no one could ever get full 13s.

  36. gameranx on October 22, 2021 at 9:34 am

It would be more realistic if ‘S’ stood for ‘sad’

  37. Chainedpillow6 on October 22, 2021 at 9:36 am

  40. Maldito Ping on October 22, 2021 at 9:43 am

‘I didnt say she stole my money’.
