Want to control these amps wirelessly through an app? Watch this: https://youtu.be/hH6FbcZpnsA

Stay tuned for more on this whole home amp as well as a comparison of this and the dayton audio dax66 amplifier. Also stay tuned for my 2018 smart home install!

https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=10761 This is a VERY good whole home audio amplifier. For the money and quality it is superb over other systems. It’s ease of installation puts it up high on the list, and unfortunately not many know about this kind of a system. Similar systems like this can easily be 2x or 3x in cost, maybe even more.

I forgot to talk more about my ceiling speakers, these are the indoor ceiling speakers that i used, and i would recommend them. Amazing sound quality!! They are by dayton audio — Many people recommend them. https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-cs620c-6-1-2-2-way-ceiling-speaker-pair–300-402

For my outdoor speakers i also used dayton audio — https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-io655b-6-1-2-2-way-indoor-outdoor-speaker-pair-black–310-012

The speaker wire i used (i’d recommend the 14 guage though):https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=2817

The cat 6 cable i used in my parents (i used regular cat5e though, it doesnt really matter): https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=8103

The RG6 cable that i used for cable tv runs, and my RCA runs: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Southwire-500-ft-18-RG6-Quad-Shield-CU-CATV-CM-CL2-Coaxial-Cable-in-Black-56918445/202316309

Keystone Wall plate (you can get ones with more or less holes): https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=6727

Keystone wall jacks (you can get any kind of wall jacks including hdmi, ethernet etc…): https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=6550

All in all, i spent roughtly $850 to install this system. Labor was free since i did it all myself, however if you’ve never gotten up in the attic and know how to run wire, this type of a job would be a little challenging, but not impossible. I was able to save a little money due to the fact that i already had speaker wire from another install that i did.

I’m trying to figure out what kind of imput the TV would use. Can I go HDMI to digital optical? Or is it best to just run the rca?

  8. Austin Georgenson on November 20, 2021 at 11:09 am

Very informative video. I am looking to do this to my house. So how are the wall controllers wired to the amplifier/receiver? I got the Ethernet cable but confused how that all connects to the amplifier.

We have been enjoying our monoprice whole house setup for over a year now with a massive thanks to yourself with your video and guidance but have hit a problem which I hope is minor. Just upgraded from the iPhone X to the 13pro and with the contract package I get free Apple Music but for some reason I’m unable to see chrome cast on the AirPlay options and simultaneously cannot find the chrome cast audio app or even find it in the App Store. Any ideas what my options might be?

How does the input in each keypad work ? Is it 3.5mm ? Will the input play on the zone the keypad is configured right after you plug it in ? I’m asking because I see that you added RCA to one of your walls. What not use the keypad instead ?

  21. Portland Local Church on November 20, 2021 at 11:23 am

How high do you mount the touchpads? I would guess up at eye level or close to that??

  22. Victor Rodriguez on November 20, 2021 at 11:25 am

Hey man, I just ordered the monoprice audio amplifier and the soundavo 8 inch speakers to pair with them thanks for the discount code btw. Am I going to have to bridge the amplifier to be able to use the speakers with the monoprice amp? or can I run the 2 8 inch speakers on the 4 ohm 50 w left and right for one zone? The soundavo say they are 8 ohm 60 w. Also how can I get audio from my tv to amplifier without a rca out of the tv? I am currently using arc to my soundbar for audio out at the moment. Would I have to change the audio out of the tv to like optical out and run a optical cable to amp so I can hear tv that way through my speakers?

  24. Rey Reyna on November 20, 2021 at 11:27 am

Great video… my home has speakers in every room also wall plate with just mic and volume control.. i dont think i can change zones… all wiring goes to 1 closet just dont know what amplifier or reciever to use..

  25. Dr Champ on November 20, 2021 at 11:27 am

I like your set up, i’m thinking about doing something similar. One question, in the main room, i want to run a home theater set of speakers and I was thinking using the Monoprice controller that you have and feed Zone 1/ Source 1/Music into my home theatre receiver where it will route the sound to all 5.1 speakers in the main room. The other rooms, those stereo speakers can just connect directly to this controller. Does this Monoprice have the line out? Would that work? Does the keypad control the line out volume as well? Thanks

Will you still recommend this amp and speaker or is there a newer one you would recommend? Your video is awesome, by the way!!!!

Because all my speaker wires are in a tight spot & my AVR doesn’t fit ? So do I half to rewrite all of it ??

  35. Jerry Howard on November 20, 2021 at 11:40 am

I like this but having to go to each panel in each zone seems very outdated when a smart amp could do this from an app wirelessly.

How does stereo sound work when you have two speakers on one channel?

  39. Adrian Colin on November 20, 2021 at 11:45 am

Hi, very thorough and informative videos. I watched your whole amp and pre-wired journey. I want to set up something similar and want to ask if you know if it’s possible to multipurpose 5 ceiling speakers that are already wired to a 5.1 surround sound receiver and use them through zone 1 on an amp through the receiver while watching TV, but also use them independently through a different zone in which they are directly wired to the amp on a different zone. I guess I would do to sets of wiring, one from speaker to receiver and the other one from the speaker to the amp. Can that be done? Is there a better way? Is there a risk with double powering the speakers?

  40. Aldin A on November 20, 2021 at 11:47 am

Can you please explain how the coaxial cables terminate at the source end? How do you go from coaxial to the red and white RCA input. I’ve been much research but can’t find out what you did here. Thanks

Shouldve made a video on you doing this instead of just showing us how it works. That’s the real reason most people are here. Looks good though, nice work.
