Hamza some ppl have a beer every few weeks like myself. Some ppl wake up and drink 🍸 til they go to sleep. Some ppl play video games healthily. Calm down. But it is def true that young men are sinking their whole lives into the virtual world is way more dangerous than the few disciplined ppl who can manage their gaming habits or habits in general.

I agree with a lot of what you’re saying. Personally gaming has had a lot of destructive sides to me and a lot of times simply been a distraction from making more important things. And I’m working on minimalizing it because I realize it’s too much. But honestly, some of my best memories in life has been when me and my friends used to play Nintendo together and we played like it was between life and death. We were just living in the moment and having fun.

How you’re comparing gaming to porn though is pretty absurd. As someone who’s had a serious porn addiction, porn gives you crippling anxiety and shame that no video game can even come close to giving. It completely messes up your mind and body in a very more destructive way. They’re both bad bud porn addiction is waaaaaay worse.

  10. IgnitedBread on July 24, 2022 at 12:46 am

Hamza has great points, and I can see his view, in fact I believe anyone can, but games it depends, I think a small amount of time just so you can enjoy your childhood is good enough. Tetris, Super Mario, Wii Sports, XBOX 360 Sports (I’m 100% sure I got this name wrong but it’s basically Xbox but you move around), those games I believe cannot grows toxicism nor hatred. CSGO, COD, GTA Online, etc. I believe games can be the most shittiest thing ever, limiting your time is good but no one fucking does that, Hamza’s points in this video are valid as fuck, "Then go do real sports." he’s right.

Do real sports, get active, but I think children should enjoy their childhood, until they’re around the age of 13, then they should either eliminate video games or set a limit to it.

Hamza you’re amazing, and I love your points, but I think that children should enjoy their childhood but should limit to some games that could prove toxicity, or make sure the child is mature enough and is smart enough to realize how dumb toxicity is and how dumb the community is, but after 13 I think all of Hamza’s rules should be applied to the teen.

I actually do play for an hour a day from 8-9pm but I can feel it effecting my neurochemistry as I’m playing. I gave it up for NYE and I felt so much more productive in every other aspect of my life. I keep going back to it as a form of comfort but deep down I know I need to get rid. I’ve wasted so much time and effectively turned myself into more of a loser than I could’ve been if I never played games, I used to play all day everyday so I have made progress but I am coming ever closed to the point that I sell all of my games and consoles and never look back.

  12. Jeylon on July 24, 2022 at 12:47 am

Im 15 and I’ve played a lot of video games in my childhood. Hard to stop it but i agree with you Hamza. Getting a Nintendo 3DS at 7 Probably started my addiction and Minecraft. Have a lot of memories from them and i look back to them, since I’ve mainly played with my irl friends and spent time with them without video games too as you should. Thanks Hamza i like your videos.

1:50 this is so true, unfortunately i discoverd it the hard way, i was a leader of a massive guild with sooooo many "friends", that we did stuff together every minute of the day.. that just vanished as soon as i dropped the game couple weeks due to severe depression…non reach out to me.. or even asked ..

  14. froge on July 24, 2022 at 12:51 am

it hurts to hear but you’re right about everything. i spent too much of my teens and early 20s playing videos games, and as a result my social life, studies, career, ended up being very mediocre. i didn’t even mention dating or romance because there was zero of that.

i’m almost 30 and just recently started realizing how much valuable time i was wasting. i think there is good in video games as an artform. some games i played have truly touched me in ways that only the most beautiful art can. but those experiences were a tiny percentage of my total time spent on games. the vast majority was spent grinding my way up a pointless ladder in ranked games for a sense of accomplishment, mindlessly filling out checkboxes in open world games while listening to podcasts to feel less lonely at night, pretending to be invested in a mediocre video game story that didn’t come close to quality of writing in good books and films.

you are being a bit harsh in this video, and people in the comments are getting upset. but i recognize the truth in what you’re saying so i don’t take it as personal insult, and neither should anyone else. hell, i probably won’t ever quit video games completely just because i know what video games as a true artform can accomplish, and i don’t want to miss out on those. but what i am done with is the mindless repetitive grind for meaningless accomplishments and big budget games that take up multiple movies worth of time while containing less than a fraction of the artistic value.

i do hope this video gets through to some younger guys who might be playing video games for the escape or sense of accomplishment like i was. do better with that time and you’ll be happier in the future. i don’t think you need to quit completely, but be mindful of why you play games and think carefully before you invest that time into games.

  15. CG on July 24, 2022 at 12:51 am

I should make a video on why I hate video games. I feel like my effort is for nothing, I got into it by my friend’s son, who insisted I play. And yesterday I just had a realization that all the effort I am putting in is absolutely for nothing, because my friend’s son will probably loot my account once I leave. Out of politeness and deference (because after all he is a child), I don’t dare change my password, which he knows. It feels greedy and mean, you know. So I know all my effort til now has been wasted and going to someone else’s profit :/ Which is a reason why I hate the time spend in such things. On the good side, it is pointing me towards more personally rewarding tasks.
Previous to this I had to leave another heinous game: Neopets. I would describe it as a capitalist sect disguised as petcare page. And a hacker’s testing ground. Very stressful. The page owners knew this and did nothing to better the page’s security, especially when people could pay money to play, then lose accounts. So I had to leave for good.

Playing tetris for 1 hour a day for entertainment after work and sport is a bad thing?
And its not about being succesfull its about experience and entertainment.
So someone is a loser if they entertain themselves with video games?
    Stupid man talks to camera.

  41. DumbDead on July 24, 2022 at 1:28 am

Ok before I start my rant I wanna say this. I actually do like I lot of your videos and tips for self improvement, but your points on videos game garbage and here’s why.

First off your title is shit, generalizing all gamers as loser with no self control sounds like something a 5 year old would do. I hope this title is clickbait because if you genuinely hate all gamers you need fucking therapy because there something seriously wrong with you.

Next you need to realize that people can enjoy something without being completely addicted and becoming a slave to it, despite what you say most people can control themselves to not be addicted to 1 thing.

Next you need to understand there’s nothing wrong with having a hobby. Self improvement is important yes but life isn’t always about self improving. It’s ok to have fun doing something unproductive that you love.

Another thing is you heavily use the straw man argument so much it’s painful. When someone makes a point you have no counter argument towards you just say “Stfu bro” which is the most immature argument ever.

Finally games are art. Games can change your world view for the better. They can make people genuinely change people lives.

TLDR: I do genuinely appreciate what you are trying to do for young men in today’s society. A lot of people need this wake up call. But your points on videos games and gamers are toxic and douchy. I also recommend watching this video by the ActMan. He goes into way more depth then me about this topic https://youtu.be/Me5hRJPtnFU

  42. French Toast on July 24, 2022 at 1:28 am

I agree in general, when someone IS addicted to video games it is literally hell (coming from experience) but lately I’ve only been playing for less than an hour a day and instead of raging like I used to im training my mind to look at what I did wrong in a game and apply into the next one or the next round or whatever.

It’s helping my impulse control A LOT and I use this habit in my day to day life to be more self aware of what I can be improving on whilst being in the present.

This is big for me, it feels like progress when I was once a rager, im actually improving and looking at myself critically and doing all this for less than an hour a day. To me it’s fine.

  44. neko from the future on July 24, 2022 at 1:30 am

not all video games are very addictive and kinda shitty man there is just not so much fun video games like cod and other pvp games, its okay to hate on video games its your own opinion but you have to understand that some video games are a way for people to have fun and socialize especially to those people who have problems talking to people irl and those people who have social anxiety and shit, video games is not always bad there is some good points to it and its not those "hand coordinations" "fast reactions", its a quick way for people like me who has social anxiety to have fun and sometimes meet some nice people online

you see man video games has become a need in this era/generation and alot of people have been becoming rich just by making video games, video games is a form of art and dont give me the "oh but if video games is art why is there toxic people, why is there simple fights because of a video game" its multiplayer games that does those try looking into singleplayer games like superliminal.

i agree with you that video games is bad but not always bad like for me as a teen i get pressured alot in school and stuff and video games is my way to get peace and to bond with my friends who i cant meet anymore its a way for teens like me to have fun and i know its bad for us but atleast its better than doing parties out at 12am going home at 5am completely drunk and just planely doing heroin or cocaine then getting addicted. video games will be very bad tho if for example youre a 21 years old obese guy with a neck beard living in your mother’s basement, stinking up the place not taking a bath and completely trashing it and just shouting "YOURE TRASH YOURE DOGWATER" at 1am

  47. Decoded on July 24, 2022 at 1:33 am

Moderation is the key. If you play video games, watch TV, read comics, listen to music every day for hours on end, then it is wasted time. Just the odd hour(s) now and then is harmless. The video does give good advice though and I’m glad he is trying to help people stop ruining their life on worthless things. Life goes fast so don’t waste it !!

  48. BrainDeadOtaku on July 24, 2022 at 1:33 am

I stopped playing video games for the past 3 years, and personally it’s done nothing for me different, in fact it’s only cut off interactions from freinds who I use to play video games online with, this video just feels really dumb for me, Video games are the same as any entertainment, TV, reading, browsing web, YouTube, it’s all the same to me. So why hate on just video games, might as well hate all forms of entertainment, my point is you need entertainment to live life can’t just be work all the time.

I had covid recently and while it had to quarantine in my room 24/7, I fell back into the addiction of playing games. It got to the point where I start off playing 2-3 hours a day and then I realized I’ve been wasting the entire day, practically 7-8 hours sitting on my computer playing video games. Even though I no longer have to quarantine now, I’ve still been playing video games all day. Today I uninstalled the game and while I have urges to go back, this video really helped me.
