Want to build a gaming computer, but also want to go to college for Architecture and Design, so want it to be able to upgrade later for it.

Workstation GPU’s are designed to crunch double precision numbers, which are more frequently used in CAD.
In Games the GPU’s that overhead is useless, which is why they’re not as suitable for that application.

They’re also more overbuilt and have more refined drivers, to ensure compatibility with CAD software.

  7. Davide Livia on December 19, 2021 at 12:13 pm

I’m looking to build my own… so I can combine the two! For 3D modelling ex. (
Revit Autodesk) and multiplayers games (Call of duty)… any suggestions that I can get would be great! Not really looking at a budget but eventually I will narrow it down to what best for both…

Could one put a GPU and a CPU together? I’m a computing student but I’m also slowly getting into PC gaming and I want to build by one set up soon.

  10. Lucas Sanchez on December 19, 2021 at 12:16 pm

    Gaming PCs are the best

  11. New England on December 19, 2021 at 12:16 pm

Both are very powerful machines but both power are designed for a specific reason.
WORKSTATION is like your 18 wheeler. Has Tons of Power. Pretty boring looking.
GAMING PC is like your Ferrari. It too has tons of power. Very pleasing to look at.

3-4 years ago i really like gaming but; Now i am in graduation and working too so i just made my pc with nvidia quadro rtx4000 and ryzen 7 3700x before that i mostly used laptops now when i work on my pc it is like super easy and not lagging even a bit. But due to lock down because of covid i play sometime with friends but not like extreme so a decent frame rate of 100-140 this setup provides me which is very much for me and now to be conclude I would suggest you to build a pc with quadro p4000 or less its same or cheaper nowadays and really you will not find anything missing. According to my work its super great. And as i said i am in graduation 2nd year work is important for me. You can take low end quadro cards and learn though them and afterwards you can switch to any other if you want later. But trust me you can barely say its not for gaming. But yes if you only do gaming its not for you.

Gaming GPUs have more Cuda cores than workstation GPUs

  25. whoofle on December 19, 2021 at 12:32 pm

And if you’re really broke you can just attach a monitor to a 9 year old laptop so you feel like you’re playing on a pc!

  26. evifnoskcaj on December 19, 2021 at 12:33 pm

Now it’s considerably cheaper to use workstations, especially refurbished ones. Workstation graphics cards are now very affordable compared to standard desktop cards.

  27. Malik Hamza on December 19, 2021 at 12:34 pm

I have dell t5400 workstation it is old. But i was able to play games at 4k quality with just 4 gb ram and gtx 960

Wow this video is very outdated. 16 GB is never overkill in this decade. It’s standard now.

    Personal story.
Since I started school, I really wanted a computer good enough to play the things I like, being at the time PS2 games….so I was trying to emulate…on the old one. As you can guess didn’t work out. I was like this for a long time….until I decided to buy something new… so I looked, and I found Workstation HP Z400, 6core intel xeon 2.67GHz,8GB RAM,Nvidia GeForce 605 1GB with shared 4GB more…some crazy stuff…. this workstation costed me 270LV(~135$)…. Never knew though the real difference between them so…thanks for the video.

  34. Inayahイナヤ on December 19, 2021 at 12:47 pm

I’m a computer science (AI) student at university, I’m a console gamer so I don’t need the PC to be good for gaming. Should I still get a gaming set up or a workspace set up? I’m not trying to break the bank here (• ▽ •;)

  38. Ranadheer Yatapolu on December 19, 2021 at 12:50 pm

  39. Jonathan Solis on December 19, 2021 at 12:51 pm

Work station is like The Bat-mobile and Gamer PC is like a Porsche, one is build to be driven hard and everywhere, and the other just fast, but the Bat-Mobile can take you on roofs 🙂

  40. Jack Kemper on December 19, 2021 at 12:51 pm

My current $2500 dual Xeon Mac pro is a toaster for gaming, so I got a new $2800 pc

  41. Dimitris on December 19, 2021 at 12:51 pm

Lol 1:00 my workstation :D. I bought it from ebay around 500 euros 4 years ago and I’m telling you guys it was the wisest decision I’ve ever made in my life . It’s a monster.
And I just realised I’m rendering a full scene at blender almost six hours now and handles everything so smooth that I totally forgot it. 10 years ago this beast cost about 15.000 dollars.
    And a little tip.
Do you see the green marks on the handles? These means you can remove it. Everything else must be done by a technician.

  42. Eldred Martin on December 19, 2021 at 12:52 pm

even in 2018, 8GB of ram was NOT enough for gaming. sure it can handle it somewhat. But not by any means is it "enough"

  43. Tech With Things on December 19, 2021 at 12:52 pm

I am also a workstation (DELL T3600) gamer. My specs are:

    Xeon E5 1620 (3.6 GHz)
    32GB RAM
    RX 560
    2TB HDD
    128GB SSD
    635W POWER SUPPLY

And runs most of the games on ultra, few of them on very high but its great in performance.

  44. Valdas Jakovlevas on December 19, 2021 at 12:54 pm

8GB of Ram aint that much now 🙂

  45. Celestia Ludenberg on December 19, 2021 at 12:59 pm

Can you play Minecraft and Roblox on a workstation well?

  46. Antonis Kouros on December 19, 2021 at 1:02 pm

    You still don’t get it!
The problem is not to help a rich gamer boy to find one more choice to spend thousands of dollars or euros for games, but to help a new/young scientist or a student or an independent designer or a small technical office to maximize the profit when he spends his litle money to buy something very good and cheap!

  47. Mr. Pakheey on December 19, 2021 at 1:03 pm

You don’t need workstation just reach the games’ recommendation

  48. Samuel G. on December 19, 2021 at 1:04 pm

It all depends on budget, I guess.

  49. MrEffectfilms on December 19, 2021 at 1:07 pm
